I believe YJ front lines are 3" longer than MJ/XJ ones.

Go Lions! Go far far away from here...

Short AALs tend to ride harsher than the long ones.

There are rear disks on my Dad's 06 Libby. It's a Limited though, so I can't say they are all disks. -
Question on rear axle upgrade

I ask because there are some changes in the brakes in the axles over the year. But even so, I still recommend a junkyard front axle. Regearing on one axle can cost $250-300 or more to accomplish. -
Seriously. I hate this. Try as I might to figure out what to do, the players I play suddenly turn into feeble idiots, the players I bench have record games. It doesn't matter what I do, for it will be wrong. I can't even win against a team that hasn't changed since day 1 and has a benched lame QB "on the field". :hateputers: At least the lions play again next week....

That's a tiny, tiny pic. :redX: My input is to take more pics. :D Lots and lots of them. People looking to buy an MJ really like to see pics. Show the underside, any damaged areas, the engine bay, interior etc.

Don't "find" a rollbar, make a rollbar. Something that'll save you head in the event of a roll over. This is the only shot I have of the trimming underneath. It's dark outside, so anything better will have to wait til tomorrow.

How recently have you done the brakes on your Dana 30? You can find Dana 30s in the junkyards with 4.10s already in them. -

I thought WJs had the wrong wheel bolt pattern? -
Are you asking what tool I used? Probably a cutoff wheel on the air grinder or electric grinder. I hacked at them with a sawzall likely. I just sliced the vertical cuts and pounded the sheetmetal up out of the way. Crude, I know, but once I realized that my truck was going to rust out from underneath me eventually, cleanliness of cuts tends to go by the wayside. :( They are bent 1/4" plate. A local fab shop cut the steel from plate and bent it at a right angle to my specs. I used cardboard and the old bracket piece to mock up what I wanted, then clamped the 2 brackets together (they are mirror images after all) and drilled the holes. I belive this is the front bumper, but the concept is the same. Once I had everything mocked up in steel and tacked together, I hauled it off to a pro for final welding. Absofeakinlutely. Admittedly my rear bumper is tied into the rollbar, but I swear you could grab the rear bumper with a crane and twirl the truck around like a toy. :D It's also important to note that I added that ginormous bolt that goes through the existing hole in the outer frame wall and through a hole I drilled in the inner frame wall. I've got very little confidence in the stock bumper bolts when it comes to yanking my butt out of the mud. Oh, and kiss your tailgate goodbye unless you do it slightly different. :(

Question on rear axle upgrade

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than 100, maybe 150 for one in good shape. For disks, I believe it's the Grand Cherokee that is the best fit? Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong. -
The discussion was brought up before with guys on both sides of the fence (the allow-politics, don't-allow-politics fence), and I thought it'd be a fair compromise to allow discussion if it was kept civil. :dunno: I know it's only a matter of time before it breaks down to be a "your candidate sucks", "no your candidate sucks" discussion, but whatever. No one reads the rules anyways.

If it's for an XJ, then it'll only give half of 2.5" when installed in an MJ due to the different leaf arches of the 2 Jeeps. Will it match the front 3.5" coils if you add a small shackle lift to it? Maybe.

The 97+ have 29 spline axleshafts and are stronger. But the 8.35 in the earlier 27 spline count version is still a bit better than the Dana 35. If this gets you a better gear ratio, I'd do it and then score the junkyards for a disk brake swap. :D -
True that. Everyone saw what they wanted to see in that debate. I doubt it changed anyone's mind.

Adding vent windows is easy. Go to junkyard, remove vent windows from any MJ or XJ that has them, install in your truck. They are a bit of a pain to install, but not that bad. The big thing is to make sure the ones you buy are in good shape. The pivot holes in the top and bottom are known to wallow out and cause the window to leak and/or whistle. Getting a good pair is paramount.

What to do if your hood release cable breaks
Pete M replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
86 MJs have a single hood latch in the middle. 87+ have 2 latches, located in the corners of the hood. They are notorious for sticking and a real pain to grab hold of (especially if you have the skid plate or E-fan). -
Technically, I believe that's JohnQ's daughter. :D

Glad to hear it wasn't more serious than the gasket.

I'm actually working on that right now. It's been a problem getting the right image to blow up bigger than the business card size and still look good. Should know later this week if I can do it with the images I already have. Cards will go out to Mini and jt next chance I get.

Bastard packs for XJs are easy. Stock XJ leafs are pretty flat to begin with (being SOA and all). MJ leafs on the other hand (SUA), are very arched, and finding junkyard leafs that add even more is tough. :(

Yup, I hate this. Got all of 49 points so far (except for one wide receiver that plays monday). the other team has 48 already with 3 games not quite finished and their defense play late tonight. Damn I hate my team.
