It appears it was a minor glitch in the old forum. He needed to be an admin and, while I did make him an admin, the forum wouldn't recognize it. :dunno: Not sure what happened there, but it happened late and he wasn't able to get ahold of me. Right now I'm just waiting for him to wake up. I've sent him my info and it should only take a few more minutes of work. The new forum structure went together fine so at least we have that going for us. LOTS of new aspects and features in the new stuff. At least for the admin. :D I haven't explored the user side of it yet.

Single stage. No clear, no prime (except on the bare metal I just added today), no sanding except for scuffing up the current paint to help adhesion. Think of it more like a spray-on bedliner than regular paint. :brows: Supposed to be tough as nails when it cures.

That I will certainly do. Especially with this paint. It's not like ordinary paint. Kinda like a mix between paint and bed liner. Today I swapped on my new fender and patched holes. Tomorrow I'll be sanding and masking and using the old fender as practice. Oh, and I was unable to find red scotchbrite, so I bought 120 grit sanding sponges instead. :dunno:

If you can find a set of decent condition 4x4 MJ coils/leafs, they will boost you up by an inch. Maybe more if your truck is sagging. Don't forget that any change in height will tweak you alignment.

Ahhh, the discussion about what constitutes disrespect, and what shows pride in their country. Everyone has their own opinions on car flags, and paint jobs, and , um, bikinis and such. There's such a fuzzy line dividing "respectful" from "tasteless" and it's mostly in the eye of the beholder. Me, I'll just go with the opinion that if the person is doing it out of pride in the good ol' U. S. of A., then I'm not going to get too worked up about it (as long as they take care of it). Having the stars and stripes on your headliner? That's cool with me. Why? Because it's being displayed in a location that should stay pristine. For contrast, having the stars and stripes as a seat cover? Not so cool. It will clearly get worn and look bad. Using an actual US flag to do the headliner? I'm a bit torn on that one and think it's more on the side of not cool. On car flags, I like my US car flag and fly it with pride. I can't stand other people still flying the poor thing even though it's clearly falling apart and tattered. That frustrates the heck out of me. They crossed the line from pride to disrespect. I know there's an official book that lists all the dos and don'ts, but I go more for the pride factor. Did the person mean well? and do they continue to take care of the flag or image? A tattered flag sits far worse with me than even the bikini.

I too don't have any pics from when I bought my 88 back in 97, but trust me, it was a pile of crap. This shot was from it's heyday as a sporty 2wd: And now... slightly modified. Pretty much the only thing original and untouched is the engine.

But relatively speaking it'll be worse than it is right now. Currently my truck is already rust colored and so the rust doesn't show at all. :D You just see holes in the sheetmetal. :roll: I want to go with a military look, but I don't really want OD green. Should look pretty sweet once I get the canvas cover made up.

That's actually kinda dangerous to drive that way. You could lose your clutch completely at any time if the leak gets worse. :( Brake fluid softens the plastic (causing it to sorta "melt" and become very brittle) and accelerates corrosion in the metals.

Well, looks like the next few days are going to be my last chance at painting the 88 (the one in my avatar). The Zolatone has a limited shelf life and it likely won't survive the winter (got it last spring). The next few days are supposed to be in the low 60s and dry and I'll probably never see that again till March. So, anyone ever used Zolatone and have any pointers? I'm guessing the answer is no, but you guys continue to surprise me with the breadth of knowledge this group has. :D From what I've been told it's fairly toxic to breath, so I'll be using a cartridge mask and full goggles. Tomorrow I'll be hitting up the junkyard for a passenger side fender. The one in the 88 is pretty smashed (contact with the tire) and, while my expectations for this project are pretty low, if I'm putting this much effort into it I'd prefer to start from scratch. If I smash it again later, so be it. I plan to remove all the fender flares and will be putting black ones back on the truck. So in the end it'll be a speckled desert tan color with black flares and the black rockers (I'll be keeping the black liner on them black). Bumpers and rollbar will also remain black. Pretty much all I'll be doing is changing the red color to tan. I don't know. We'll see how this turns out. :dunno:
