  1. If it does, than he needs more lift. Easy fix. :D
  2. HP dana 30 FTW! :D
  3. It's s tough choice. Do I keep it a bit longer, hoping that I'll be able to rekindle the spark? 3 years is a long time to not touch it. I left my 88 parked for 2 whole years, but life did eventually give me the time to build it up into the 4x4 that it is today (major illness and a surprise unemployment). But then, the truck wasn't anything special in the beginning, except to me. No one was ever going to tell me that I should have left it as a stock 2wd MJ. If that CJ was mine, I'd keep an eye out for a better rig that I'd be more than happy to molest. But I wouldn't even think of selling the CJ until the new one was in my driveway. Then I'd start all over with whether or not I should sell it. Thought about replacing the body with a fiberglass one?
  4. aftermarket AAL. Used if possible. Long ones are preferable. How are you lifting the front?
  5. Yes it is a 35. I mentioned that to them. :D But with the lack o' traction afforded by the highspeed run areas, it seems to be doing alright (so far). The original land speed Comanche was also running a Dana 35. It's not a drag race. Raw acceleration takes a back seat to top end speed and you've got a few miles to get up to your top speed.
  6. Positive. His race class doesn't allow it.
  7. I assume they all go through the same process that the LakeViewCruiser MJ endures: wash, wash, wash, and more washing (except maybe the rental cars). He also uses a product that you spray on before the runs so the salt doesn't stick as well. I was told that as long as you clean up properly, it's not such a big deal.
  8. There's really no dirt out on the salt flats. :dunno: Very few rigs I saw had filters. As for the location of the injectors, I dunno. Hopefully WFC will stop by and offer up more details. :D
  9. If you can get them to work, go for it. But make strong recovery points a priority.
  10. S-10 leafs are a good way to lift up an XJ, but I doubt you'll get more than an inch on an MJ. stock XJ leafs are pretty flat, stock MJ leafs already have a ton of arch. So adding in S-10 leafs will raise up the XJ much more than an MJ.
  11. 33x9s? Those might be doable. What type of tire are they? Have you tried driving on them yet? Are they mounted on rims?
  12. All my photos are about 2 megs in size if anyone wants me to email them anything in particular.
  13. I'm sure it depends on what type of work an individual has done to a particular engine. :D I'm sure they all have their sore points. I despise the Ford 4.6 motor. :shake:
  14. Gearing can easily cost over a grand. Be prepared for that. Also, don't ever spend that much on a Dana 35 rear axle. Invest your money into something that will last. Selling/trading the tires and getting some aggressive 31s would be my plan of action. Just cause it's a good deal, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  15. Here we are hauling it to the starting line. Getting ready to run And eventually I'll figure out how to upload my video.
  16. This is the method they used to drop the axle below the big engine pan:
  17. And now the Lakeviewcruiser:
  18. For this particular class, you must retain the stock gas tank. It's non-functional in WFC's truck, but it has to be there. So Scott simply carved out a hole for the upper four-link bar to fit.
  19. battery and fuel cell in the bed. There's also a 60 gallon tank for ballast water in front of the fuel cell
  20. I do apologize for not having more pics. Turned out I only had one opportunity to snap pics for each truck and I didn't realize it at the time. Thankfully I snapped some (that's what they teach you in photography: snap now and snap often). First up is WFC's MJ:
  21. Then it looks like you'll need to buy or build a means to mount the shackle. I'm not all that familiar with the rearend of an XJ, is the bumper close enough to integrate the rear shackle into a super-strong (and firmly attached) bumper?
  22. It is very VERY important that you have some SOLID extraction attachment points front and rear. This comes before any lift or tires. Also, some aggressive 31s will suit you just fine. 33s only give 1" more ground clearance.
  23. Cut off the eyes and stick the MJ leafs under the XJ main? To that extent you can probably use S-10 leafpacks too. I seem to remember they have a decent arch in them. :dunno:
