  1. I thought widetrack CJs were narrower? :hmm:
  2. Are you contemplating pulling a 'shield yourself? I wish you good luck. It can be a real challenge to get them out without cracking it. It's one of the few things I gladly pay a pro to handle. make absolutely sure that you seal it properly. windshield leaks will tend to drip down under the carpets and lead to the way-too-common floor rot. :(
  3. how far east? I have family in Loganville. :waving:
  4. The MTR is an all-terrain. there's simply not enough void space for them to clean out.
  5. who said that? The 2.8 is so underpowered that the 2.5 is a better engine. the 3.4 block bolts right in using your existing trans and exhaust and accessories. get an aftermarket carb or wire in the Camaro's electronics (I'm told it's stand alone and very straight forward) and you're good to go. If you want a 4.0, this is how it's done: Step 1: buy a donor 4.0 XJ that's in good shape mechanically and has an intact front clip (you need the hood and radiator mounts and hood latches in order to run the 4.0 radiator) Step 2: gut your entire truck (except for the axles). Step 3: gut entire XJ and swap all those guts into your MJ Step 4: be sure to get a 4.0 fuel pump for the tank and shorten your rear shaft to fit the new drivetrain

I've purchased 2 in my lifetime. both were bought with specific "lost things" in mind and both were returned soon after buying. :D And no, we didn't find either item. :( Found all sorts of random other things though. Nothing valuable. :( They were fun to use while I had them.
  7. looking at the baldness of his front tires, he needs all the help he can get.
  8. auto trans was not required. technically the 4.0 wasn't required either. Yes that's right. Somewhere out there are a handful of 4.10 Dana 44s. :D
  9. that truck has been for sale for probably half that time. Feel free to email the guy the CC address. or any craigslist/ebay comanche for that matter.
  10. Welcome to the club! :wavey: It's the 3.4L that's a super easy drop-in. the 4.3 will require a whole new drivetrain and a bunch of custom stuff since it shares nothng with the 2.8. The 3.4L is identical to the 2.8L on the outside, but vastly improved on the inside. They can be found in early 90s Camaros and Firebirds (or as a crate motor from GM). You can either swap over the electronic fuel injection fromthe car, or swap in an aftermarket intake and carb onto the new block. all the exhaust will be the same. 11. help with swearing at the truck? don't worry I've got that covered. no id help you with floors and stuff I know. just messing with ya. :D I appreciate the offer.
  12. which engine/transmission do you have?
  13. car-part.com and pullapart.com are my favorite search sites what to search for depends entirely on what parts you need. just about any year MJ/XJ is usable for something.
  14. I do believe that hell creek makes mt packs.
  15. yes, the 4.56 is a good thing. :D if the tag is there, it'll be attached to the cover with one of the cover's bolts.
  16. hmm. not enough there to tell the gear ratio. the reason I ask is that the 2.5/auto usually came with the rare 4.56 gear ratio.
  17. I split your questions off into a new thread.
  18. your trans should be the AW-4 and it is considered a very good trans. Could you do me a favor and check the gear ratio stamped on the tag on the diff cover on the axle?
  19. 5 hrs is a small price to pay to get your baby back. :clapping:
  20. I've been spending too much time out in the cold garage. :( also, a lot of guys refer to the tube as a 30 so I just wanted to check.
  21. what size tire? The Dana 30 can be built to handle a decent load and you can mate it to a 44 or Explorer 8.8 in the rear. If you're prepared to take on a big project, my standard suggestion is to look into late 70s Ford 3/4 ton axles. The front axle will be a heavy duty 44 with a drivers side diff, and it will readily accept the MJ suspension brackets (get aftermarket though, it'll be much stronger than stock). you don't necessarily need the rear from the same truck though, as just about any 8 lug dana 60 from any truck will match up in width.
  22. 1988 jeep comanche 4x4 - $750 (Jackson Ga.) http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/1499570104.html
  23. I've never done it, only heard of it. do you have inspections or sniffers in your area? still running the stock exhaust?
  24. help with swearing at the truck? don't worry I've got that covered.
