all the more reason to not pass up a fair priced, good running example who's only downfall is a lp front axle (which really is NOT that bad). all ZJs and TJs have lp front axles. as do the vast majority of 4x4s out there. they seem to get by just fine. :dunno:

meh. that's an easy, bolt-in upgrade. don't limit your searches just because of that. :thumbsup: heck, I wouldn't even limit my search to 4wds, but that's just me. :D

yeah, no kidding. around here, a vehicle is considered trashed when the steel-to-ironoxide ratio hits around 2:1. :shake:

might want to confirm that the toe bones pieces are properly aligned before chemically inducing a state of forgetfulness. :D

do NOT rebuild that engine block. the 2.8 engines that Jeep got are flawed (either in design or manufacturing or maybe both.). :( if it is having internal issues and you want to do the minimum to get it running again, go with a 3.1/3.4L block/head swap. the 3.1/3.4 is an updated and improved version of the 2.8. your intake, accessories and the exhaust will all bolt on. you just need to add a fuel pump and re-balance the flexplate. figure 1500 to 2500 to get a v8 in there. and that's if you can make parts yourself. and that's just a start. v8s are notoriously hard to keep cool in our trucks. and yes, my 86 is also a metric ton. :thumbsup:

what parts do you need? your local auto parts store should have most everything except axle shafts.

86 MJs would have the 207. all others should have the 231, although there are 2 different spline counts on the input shaft depending on the year and engine.

Go over to NAXJA and the other forums that cover the full Jeep range and check the HELP ME!s regarding starting, idling, stumbling, hesitating, dieing out, etc. etc. At least 10 to 1 in favor of Renix sensor junk. C'mon Pete, it was designed as a last gasp AMC alliance w. Renault and was a bastardized kluge ignition system and still is. I can see the point of carrying on the tradition of beating the Renix dead horse for tradition's sake or for maintaining a classic vehicle's original status for some, but none of the Renix era stuff will ever be a classic. the chysler stuff was built atop the shoulders of the renix design. of course it's going to be "better". it should be. :cheers: I'm just saying that I prefer carbs, I mean renix. :rotfl2:

the only axle that will bolt in to the front is a Dana 30. be it from an XJ MJ or whatever. everything else is custom and expensive. :thumbsup: gearing is the most important ingredient. after that, completeness. your 2wd brakes will not work on a 4wd axle, so you'll need all those parts.
