  1. you'll know for sure once you pull the cover and look inside  but a quick way to check is to jack up the rearend and rotate one tire. if the other tire spins in the opposite direction, it's open. If nothing moves, put the trans in neutral and spin again. If it spins in the same direction it's posi.
  2. yeah sure why not. just keep a looksie out the window for me. :D
  3. the first one. if you do have a posi, you definitely need the additive.
  4. what gives you that impression?
  5. that's why it's important to have one card within easy reach inside the truck at all times. :D I carry one in my wallet since that is with me for like 90% of my waking hours.
  6. yes that is a perfectly good point for the stands, and the frame (as long as it isn't rusted apart) is more than strong enough to hold up the truck for as long as needed.
  7. gear ratio is the most important thing. either it needs to match your rear axle, or it needs to be a better ratio and you plan to upgrade the rear also.
  8. I'm bummed that I don't have some cool old cars in my repertoire. :( my first ride was a hand-me-down 85 1/2 Escort with a stickshift and the "bigger" engine. but I didn't modify it much so it doesn't really count as a "project". that makes my first project ride my 88 MJ. still an on-going project of course.
  9. the cat won't affect sound much if at all. that's the muffler's job.
  10. if the engine runs fine now, there's no reason why the hard parts won't continue to do so as long as you take care of them. sudden internal failures are rare in the 2.5 and 4.0 engines.
  11. and you'll be kicking yourself again if you get a new ride specifically for the little ones and then fail to get a 4 door.
  12. yay Philmont!
  13. e: all of d plus get me a plane ride out to Cali to fix your truck.
  14. d: sell the extra drivetrain, buy a bench for the MJ.
  15. I'm sure they had fun with the french speaking locals.
  16. Are your cousins from Quebec?
  17. Welcome to the club!
  18. I'm think we can get a shirt order together early in the new year, after I get back from georgia (assuming the ol' van is up to the drive).
  19. New Old Stock brand spankin' new out of a very very old box. :D and you might, and I mean might get over 100 for it seeing as it's a longbed bar. but since you can't ship it, you'd have to find someone close by that wanted it. and if it's rusty like the bar in my '90 was, those numbers drop dramatically.
  20. Take note of his location Pat... He's actually doing pretty good in his translation.

    sighhh

the bottom line is that if you built it and it breaks on the road and kills people, you are liable. and somehow I doubt your insurance will cover that. $100 for control arms, or a million for damages. :dunno:
  22. I don't seem to have a good photo of it online, but I lined the back wall with 3/4" plywood and covered it with cheap speakerboard carpet. I can mount fire extinguishers and maglight flashlights, etc any where I want. :D
  23. Assuming nothing has been swapped around, the internal slave would indicate an 89-94 trans. a measurement of the input diameter should tell you if it's early or late in that era.
