  1. holy.......... :D Jeff
  2. 'bout 10 to 12" MJ stayed in the garage, me and the wife played in the TJ.......BFG AT's suck in the slush 'n crap, but dig like a mother in virgin snow
  3. I was wondering if you were gonna check in Greg  We got about a foot here in the local Richmond area. Had our local Jeep club's annual Christmas party last night.......we had some fun. Jeff
  4. I finally made it down to the junkyard (got waylayed on the way back Sunday by the ice storm). Snagged that pulley assembly for you if you still need it. I also grabbed the alternator bracket it's bolted to just in case yours is different. Shoot me a PM and I'll send you a couple of pics of it. Jeff
  5. <> I need one for my TJ, too..... :D Jeff
  6. both harnesses (the C101 version and the not-) go thru the same hole in the firewall. The only thing not being used now on mine is the little bracket that the C101 used to be attached to. Basically, the C101 is just a big connector that makes that single part of the harness two pieces instead of one. I kept my 87 (2.5) interior harness intact, and just plugged the 89 engine harness into the bulkhead. Jeff
  7. so long as you stay Renix, you don't need to keep the C101. I'm running an 89 harness (C101 eliminated) and it works just fine..... and XJ/MJ engine-side harnesses are the same, so don't limit your search to just an MJ harness. It's the in-cab harness that's a bit different between the two. Jeff
  8. You ain't kiddin.....we usually get ice down here in the Richmond area, home (PA) generally gets pounded with snow because it's usually way colder than 32 degrees. The TJ did a pretty good job in it on half tread AT's (and 4HI), but it really doesn't matter what you're driving on ice, you're pretty much at the mercy of gravity and inertia  Bob should have been OK, but I didn't know what time he was leaving VA. If he was in the DC area at 1:00, it was all over by then (except recovering all the wrecked vehicles). Jeff edit: in my 40 years, I've never seen the entire Parkway around da 'burgh shut down..... http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/sli ... etail.html
  9. I gotta say coincidence as well......I know my TJ has a clutch interlock (which I disabled with a 20A fuse in the auto TRANS slot on the fuse panel ;) ) but there's no such technology on our MJ's. You might try rerouting that CPS wiring (looks like it's kind of tight/pulled..) Just make sure it can't/won't touch the exhaust manifold and burn or melt. Jeff
  10. I spent the weekend back up in PA refinishing all the hardwood floors in my mother's old house, and got caught in the ice storm yesterday morning. Got a couple good pics during the whole mess, and on the way back home after some roads reopened......Bob (Wildman) was supposed to be driving back up to NY from VA, dragging his newest MJ behind his box truck. You OK Wildman???? I was looking for ya along the route back, but must have missed you. Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found ice fog....... Image Not Found this last one was on I70 outside of Hancock MD.....car hauler with a load of brand new cars flipped over :ack: When I passed it, they had the trailer uprighted and were pulling off all the cars onto flatbeds. EVERY car was smashed..... Image Not Found
  11. use some blue loctite on them too, and tighten them in a staggered pattern much like you would tighten wheel lugs.
  12. doesn't matter when, where, how or why you found CC.....the important part is that we're all MJ'ers. stockers 2WD/4WD slammed or lifted rock crawlers or mall crawlers ragged out or pimped out (well......maybe not pimped out, but you get the idea) Jeff
  13. I'm putting money on the CPS as well....try unplugging/replugging it and see if it fires. If not, go back and start with the basics (fuel, spark, compression). Jeff
  14. X2 I paid a visit over to the Yahoo board the other night.....haven't been there in a couple of years.....wow Pete, yer a good guy for keeping that site going, but seriously....WTH is with those who still cling to that place?!?!?!? Jeff
  15. holy fawk......ENOUGH with this crap already SPAM
  16. if noone else has a set, I have a set somewhere in the parts pile :ack: but they need new bushings......I pressed the old crudded up ones out, then media blasted them and painted them all pretty. Only to not be able to find a set of replacement bushings anywhere :dunce: You can have 'em, just gotta find bushings for them.... Jeff (edit -> you can find poly bushings all day long but not OEM rubber ones. I didn't want poly)
  17. hope you get to feeling better every day Joe  I can't comment on hospital food, as my wife is a clinical dietitian, and works in a hospital. All the patients keep blaming her for the bad food....but she has nothing to do with the preparation. Drives her insane, 'cause she knows they're right...... :shake: Jeff
  18. give a holler when you get back to Roanoke......I'm over in Richmond, and there's a few more MJ'ers in the area. Welcome to the club  Jeff
  19. agree with both posts above.....the only advantage of the later model cover is that they are redesigned to eliminate the "towers" inside the cover, replacing them with a baffle plate at the top. Some folks experience the oil-in-the-filter problem because the towers sit close to the top of the head inside the cover and thus closer to any pooled oil waiting to drain back into the engine. The baffle plate creates a distance between the head and the CCV lines, and oil isn't picked up so easily. Jeff
  20. 97 was the chageover year for the cast aluminum to stamped steel cover....up to 96 takes the "older" style gasket, 97+ is the "new" style that uses grommets around the cover bolts. Either one works well, but I can say the only downfall of using the stamped steel cover is that it's thinner and you can hear more valvetrain noise than with the aluminum cover. Not a big deal to me, as just about everything on my MJ is noisy in one way or another....but if you're building/running something more streetable/daily driver, you may want to opt for the aluminum cover as it has more sound deadening capability. Anywhoo.....with that said, here's my tech thread on swapping the cover, in case you need a hand  (and yes, the cover bolts are 11mm as Tom mentioned...2.5/4.0 are the same as well) viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12871&hilit=valve+cover
  21. to remove the headlight stalk (so you can take the switch out), pull the stalk out fully as you would when turning your headlights on. Look up at the switch from underneath and behind the lower dash panel and you'll see a little button. Push that button to release the stalk and pull it out of the switch. Then you can unscrew the thumbscrew on the bezel and lower the switch down to remove the wiring harness. There may be an extra pigtail ground attached to the back of the switch, seperate from the harness, that you need to undo to remove the switch fully so you can clean/diagnose the rheostat. Jeff
  22. there's on on a 2WD Renix MJ down at my local yard I've been meaning to go back down and snag.....just haven't had time. It's in good shape other than the pulley face being a bit rusty. I need to roadtrip to PA and won't be back until Sunday, but if I get back early enough I'll run down and grab it for ya. Jeff
  23. Let's see them Christmas lights guys...... I'll start Image Not Found :D Jeff
  24. Image Not Found
  25. that's my favorite place to look in on XJ's in the junkyard.....I'm not gonna get rich ever, but I've managed to find lots of change there  Yeah..I'm that cheap.... Jeff
