I thought that was a camo paint job for a second...........then I realized it was just mud :fool:

I asked Pete about that awhile ago CLICKY HERE (last 2 posts) In a way Pete's right about the fact that we don't have enough of members or classified listings to make it worthwhile, but hey I still wouldn't mind giving it a try. "hint, hint" "cough, cough" :brows:

Finally installed my full center console that has been sitting in my basement forever, and hoping to start a project thread in the next few days if laziness doesn't set in first. :brows:

Thanks, thats good to know.So an XJ D44 sans perches, shock mounts, track bar mount would be good to go.Did the newer XJ's ever have rear disc's? Nope, even newer XJ's still had the the front disc rear drum combo.

Yeah I loved that show for the month or two it was on. It actually convinced me that not all of the things you see in infomercials were crap, some of the stuff actually is a good product and good people invented it. Don't know if the show is gonna be cancelled or what, but it won't be the same without Billy. :(

The thing that makes me mad about him dying, is that he is getting no media attention! I mean sure MJ was a great legend in music, but at least Billy deserves 15 minutes on CNN instead of covering MJ for god knows how much longer! Billy was also an icon in the infomercial industry and deserves some respect IMHO. All the coverge I have seen of his death so far is a 5 word sentence scrolling across the bottom of CNN!!! :fs1:

Cheap and easy way to give your stock fender flares a fresh look and get rid of the fading clearcoat and chipping paint. After researching I found that Krylon Fusion was the perfect paint to use as it requires no flex agent or adhesive promoter in order to paint flares like done by most body shops. Plus it is available at most, if not all hardware stores. First, remove all your flares and try not to break off any of the studs. :brows: Then once you get them off, give them a good cleaning with soap and water. Now to the most important step of the entire process.....prep. ALL sanding should be wet, not dry. Take a courser sandpaper (I used 220 grit) and "bevel" the top edge of each fender flare where it meets the body. Meaning take off the sharp edge that meets the body so it does not peel, as that would be the most likely spot for peeling to occur. Edge that is to be beveled. Then take a finer sandpaper (400-500g grit) and wet sand the entire outer surface of the flare that will be painted. You DO NOT need to take your flares down to bare plastic because the paint has no trouble bonding to the old paint, it just needs to be roughed up. And don't forget the underside either. Once you're done sanding the entire surface rinse the flare off with water and wipe off most off the residue with a papertowel. Sanding process. Wet not dry! Now that prep work is done wipe down with denatured alcohol or paint thinner and let the flare throughly dry for about 10 or 15 minutes. Denatured alcohol. Now for the fun part......painting! :clapping: I used Krylon Fusion Mettallic Shimmer for my paint, but there are a bunch of other colors to choose from just look on Krylon's website for them. And its not necessary, but an attachment to put ontop of the can is a nice way to make sure u have a nice even spray. KRYLON FUSION COLORS Fusion. Attachment thingy (available at most hardware stores I'm sure). IMPORTANT: Make sure that the first coat of paint is an extremely thin coat! You should still be able to see through to the original color of the flare. The reason behind the first coat being thin is that the paint bonds to itself easier than to the old paint, trust me don't put on a heavy coat first. :shake: Still can see red through after the first coat. The paint dries very fast and you can recoat in about 5-10 minutes. After the first coat go ahead and put on a second medium coat and then top it off with a nice heavy 3rd coat. And don't forget to paint the inside again. Once your all done painting the results are incredible for spray paint IMHO. Pics don't lie. Before. After. :D All four painted. And again. And again. Close up. One of the best things I did to improve the appearance of my truck. All in all, the work was straightforward and didn't take all that long. I only used about 2.5 cans of paint, each can costing about $5 a piece. So for $15 I think its a really good upgrade.

Found a possible good deal on some 2 door gray buckets on craigslist out of a 96 XJ. But I was wondering if 96 buckets are any different from 86-92's size wise. The buckets i have right now are the rockers and sit high and too inboard toward the center hump. Would installing these seats move the seats back out toward the doors more and sit lower or not? here's the XJ, owner said she was gonna give away free when people took enough stuff!! :fool: Image Not Found http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/pts/1221144085.html

Theres 8 bolts holding the whole thing on. 4 in front, 2 in the middle, and two in the back. Just did this awhile ago and the biggest tip i can give ya is to use lots and lots of PB Blaster so the bolts don't snap off. I had half of mine snap off! :fs1:

While on the topic of rear bumpers, i need a new one too, and was actually thinking of modifying a cherokee front bumper to fit the back. Anyone ever do this, and if so any pics or suggestions? Cause I don't know about you guys, but if you really think how much you actually use the step part of the "step" bumper, its not much at all i think. If no one has done it and I do ever get it fabbed up to look decent, I'll definitely make sure to put a write-up in the DIY section.

Might come down with my MJ to check it out, never been there or even heard about it. My truck is getting fixed and painted currently but should hopefully be done in time for the show. But then again who knows this guy is known for taking FOREVER on fixing cars (6 months sometimes!!!)

http://www.trucktrend.com/features/trav ... roker.html Just saw this article over on NAXJA, thought it was pretty interesting and wanted to share with you guys. So do you think it's gonna go into production or is it just false hope? :brows:

:hijack:  :rotf: :clapping: I knew someone had to comment on that eventually!! :clapping: I LMAO the first time I read it and I knew you guys would get a kick outta it too. :rotf:

Hmmmmmmmm what about making a few miniforums in the classifieds? I mean I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm searching around in the classifieds it can get a bit confusing with huge titles that have a million pieces of info in it. So what I was thinking is that we could make subforums such as: "WANT TO SELL" "WANT TO BUY" "FREE STUFF" "COMANCHECLUB GEAR" - this one might make it easier to organize anything related to comancheclub.com stuff - signs, shirts, decals, etc... that could have a thread dedicated to each Or something like that to make things a little bit easier to find and understand. Its just a thought but IMO things would be easier to navigate and find. And to make it even easier the first thing that should be posted in the title should be the state that the item is located in. Just a thought, but what is everyone's opinions on it? :dunno:

Need to replace Gas Tank in 88
MJ300 replied to Luvtohunt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ran into the same situation a few days ago, take a grinder of some sort (even a dremel) and put two cuts in the shape of a "+" into the head of the bolt. Then take a big chisel and hammer and knock the crap outta it until the head of the bolt flies off. -
I know 89eliminator has the ELIMINATOR stickers but what about the COMANCHE ones that go on the hood? :dunno:
-
I'm planning on getting my MJ painted in the next few months, and found these while surfing online. http://www.jeepsticker.com/rubiclone.htm I know I've seen these hood stickers (first on the list) someone on here but cannot for the life of me find a picture of them! Any of you pack rats have one tucked away somewhere?

Finally got my gas tank off (Thanks CW!! :D ) Tomorrow afternoon going to try and tackle the bed.............who knows what kind of problems I'm going to run into there. :shake:
-
Well those "J" shaped bolts are rusted in there pretty good and I don't have a deep enough socket to get at em. Sprayed the heck outta them with PB Blaster but still no cigar. So how loose do I have to get it before I can just lift it out of the holes in the bed?
-
EPICALLY FAILED at removing my bed this afternoon!!! darn gas tank won't come out
