  1. Thanks for the ideas guys and the cool vids!! But I have decided that I'm going to make my own design afterall. And I have decided that I'm going to make a mousetrap 4X4!!!! It might not go the furthest distance, but it will sure be awesome to say that I have a 4WD car/ truck powered by a mouse trap alone.
  2. The details are that we need to use ONLY the energy from the trap going off and make the car go as far as possible. It needs to be fastened or mounted somehow to the body of you car.
  3. We're starting a this project in physics class, and I was wondering if you guys have any ideas on how to make a mouse trap car that you could get the maximum distance out of it. Guidelines are that you can't buy kits and you have to make your own wheels. Any ideas on how to make a really good car to kill the competition??? :chillin:
  4. Holy freaking moly!!! That is insane!!!!!
  5. Better! :D
  6. No, I already have the bracket things figured out I need to know how to take the actual seat fabric off the metal frame. The bottom part was easy cause it was just removing 4 bolts. But the top section, I want to know if its possible to get it off to swap the good XJ ones onto the MJ seat frame. Hopefully thats clears things up a little bit.
  7. I'm in the process of putting buckets in the MJ and am having a few problems. First of all I tried to put the rocker styled seats in and they do sit a little bit too high for my likings and they are not centered (they are both too far towards the center hump). I have MJ bucket seats from the junkyard but the seats themselves are trashed, water logged, and are the wrong color. So I took the bottom section of the seats off of the rockers and put them on the MJ buckets no problem but when i took a look at the upright portion i was dumbfounded. :rotf: The upper section of the MJ buckets have the latch that folds the seat flat is different from the XJ's because it doesnt have that feature. So how do you remove the upper portion of the XJ and MJ buckets without destroying them, and are the XJ seats able to be put onto the MJ buckets??
  8. 9. :agree: I really don't care who wins, but it would be nice for the Cardinals to finally win one.
  10. Yes the stripe is factory and the paint will probably show a bit of fading underneath but not much. Just try to peel back a small piece and if you see that the difference is pretty bad, just leave it on until you can get that fixed with a new paint job maybe. As far as the payload goes it is usually around 1500 lbs (i think). I know for sure though that the Metric Tonne package can haul 2205 lbs in the bed. To tell whether you have the MT package, look at what kind of rear axle you have. If its a D35 you can haul around 1500, if you have a D44 then you can haul 2205.
  11. The full gauges are a very easy swap to do speaking from my own experience. Its basically a plug and play operation that does not take much mechanical knowledge at all. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=921205 This write up really really helped too.
  12. How much higher do the curved sliders sit over the bench cause i just got some buckets today with the curved sliders. I took some measurements and it only looks like theyre going to sit 1-2 inches higher :dunno: Now I really don't mind if i sit a few inches higher because I'm only 5'9" and have plenty of headroom as it is now. I really want to make these seats work because they are in such nice shape and actually match my gray interior!!!
  13. Well it will definitely give you more ground clearance, and the biggest tire I think you can run without any rubbnig are 31's. If you trim the fenders a bit you might be able to put 32's with minor rubbing.
  14. To get the doors off i can see that you need to take off two brackets (one on top and one on bottom) and instead of taking off all of the torx bolts, i could hammer out the pin thats holding the bracket to the door. I gave it a little tap earlier today and it didn't seem like it wanted to budge at all. So do you think if I sprayed some penetrating oil on it or something and just pound the heck outta it :brows: could I get it loose?
  15. http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... cts_id=462 Motion Offroad has a kit that addresses most of your problems. Their 1.5" budget boost does use spacers, but I don't see the problem with using them either. I have 3/4" spacers up front on mine, and so far they seem to be doing their job quite well. It also comes with shackles, which will give you your rear lift, and it comes with the right sized shocks in order to compensate for the small change in height. It is on the pricey side however, but maybe if you shoot Motion Offroad a pm (he's a member here) he might be able to give you a small discount.
  16. Por 15 is basically the best thing you can do to prevent rust. Besides that the only thing that I can think of would be to put a couple of layers of spray in bedliner in over the Por 15. That would strengthen the floor even more and it would provide protection from moisture at the same time.
  17. Thanks guys, just what I wanted to hear.
  18. I know how to swap the chrome door handles on, and how they go together and everything but have one question about swappability. The donor doesnt have a passengers side door, which means I only have a drivers side handle. But since it is a 4 door, can I take off the passengers side back door handle and put it on the front. I have a gut feeling that it might work, but I just wanted to make sure b4 I go and screw something up. :D
  19. I actually just pulled the big dash piece out, and I didn't really see anything that looked like a plug. There was however a bunch of three wires, two of which went to the cig lighter, the other wire just ran into an end plug that was just laying in there. Is that the connection for the clock or something else?? Tomorrow morning I'll be pulling the donor clock from a 91 XJ and then hopefully tomorrow night I'll have time to ATTEMPT at putting it in. Thanks
  20. I'm soon planning on putting in one of those factory XJ dash clocks in my MJ. Behind the blank panel that all of comanches came with, is the plug already there or do you have to do some sort of wiring to make the clock work?? Please tell me the wires are back there and its just a plug and chug deal!!! :D
  21. Sounds like your going to build one heck of an MJ!! Can't wait to see it, and good luck with your surgery!
  22. I don't even think Clayton makes a lift kit suitable for the MJ and I have no idea as to the quality of the kit itself (if there is one ) Motion Offroad makes a great 4.5" kit for comanches and their quality is very good. It is more on the expensive side, but it will pay off as it will last for years and years. And I think if you mention your a member here you might get a discount as well. I think. As to the hardness of putting on a lift kit if you've never done it before, it can be a little daunting at first but if you read the instructions and learn where things go before putting them on you shouldn't have too much trouble (knock on wood :D ).
  23. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: Sadly enough, I know people that talk like that!! :clapping:
  24. :agree: And with this kit you get the AAL's with it and they don't hold up for very long. A better solution for the AAL's would be to buy new leafs from someplace like Hell Creek Suspensions. From what I've heard they have very high quality leafs and are much better than AAL's.
