Well I thought with the beautiful weather this weekend would make a really good weekend for me BUT I thought very wrong when this happened Friday night. Got hit by my friend's 83' camaro, he shattered his rear spoiler, and messed up his rear bumper he just got finished fixing and painting. Luckily for me he's paying for my damages which are estimated to be about $600. So now I'm in a bit of a pridiciment right now because when I was talking to my dad about it, he told me that he was planning on having the entire truck painted anyway this summer. So.........right now I'm trying to convince him that while it's in the body shop to just get the whole thing painted now, because it's gonna save my friend money, and my dad money because my friend is paying for the portion he messed up. So if I do decide to get it painted now while the body work is being done it's most likely gonna be Colorado Red with silver Cherokee trim and fender flares such as shown below. Now I know that money does not grow on trees, and that isnt going to be the cheapest thing in the world to do but I think that if before I actually take it to the body shop I might try to less the costs by....... 1. Removing the rear bumper 2. Removing all fender flares 3. Taking the decals off myself 4. Removing anything that needs to be removed for painting (i.e. winshield trim, bumpers, decals, cab vents, etc.) 5. Grinding the worst rust spots and sanding them down Anything else that I could do to lower costs on anything my friend has to pay for the dent, or me to paint the truck? Also any estimates of what my paint could cost? (minus the inside of the bed) cause I can't wait till monday till the body shop is open again!! :fs1: P.S. If any of you guys have some time on your hands and good photoshop skills put some brand new red paint on my truck with silver Cherokee trim and fender flares without the black stripe. Thanks guys :D PIC BELOW

Basically it's just a plug and play swap, all you need to do is swap the temperature and oil pressure sensors. They're not that expensive and the swap itself is very easy to do.

Well got another physics project for you guys to brainstorm ideas for. We're done with the egg drop (mine survived BTW :brows: ) now we're moving on to desgning and building bridges. So far the only guidelines are that they can only be made from popsicle sticks and Elmer's white glue. The obvious goal is to make the lightest bridge to support the most weight. You guys haven't let me down yet, so all ideas are welcome!

HARRY'S U PULL IT!!!!!! It is the biggest junkyard EVER and is worth the trip. I'm venturing up bright and early on Sunday morning as a matter of fact. :brows: It's in the northeast part of PA near Hazelton.

Wait, you forgot Slayer! Thats right, how could I forget!!!! :D

Eggs-actly. So just get sweet Jessica over there in your avatar to place it in between her balloons. Then push her off the 42ft ledge. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Best idea yet!!!! :D
-
Well, I guess these somewhat strange ideas are better than nothing :rotf: BUT there are size parameters which is a half a meter by a half a meter. Our teacher is providing the eggs so we can't cheat and coat them in epoxy, and we can't use any liquid (splattables) that will make a mess. And the final thing I forgot to mention that its being dropped from about 42 feet and by our calculations, our eggs will hit the ground at 35 mph!! And I just realized that 35 mph is pretty fast. If I do use balloons do you think that they will pop once they hit the ground (which will be cement)?? Keep the good stories coming though

Ok guys need some more ideas for another physics project. Instead of a mousetrap car we're doing an egg drop contest. The parameters are no parachutes, rockets, or anything attached to the building they are being dropped from. My ideas so far are balloons surrounding some sort of container with the egg inside, or a crush sleeve on the outside to take most of the impact. Any other thoughts??? Oh yeah, and if you remember the post about the mousetrap car a few weeks ago, our group car did win then.

Alright guys lets settle an argument here. Is the difference in the amount of travel you would get with coils in the back on an MJ more than the work involved in converting from leafs to coils i n the back. Basically, do you get more travel with coils in the rear or doesnt it matter either way??
-
Ok I changed my mind again. :D Instead of buying a 3 inch kit, I think what I'm going to do is piece together my own kit. Right now I have 1.75" coil spacers up front and nothing except the stock Big Ton springs in the back. I put the spacers on not for a lift, but just to level the truck out, and after the lift I still want it to be level. So my thinking is if I take out the coil spacers I'd be -1.75" of lift in the front (since it wouldnt be level). Now if I put 3" inch coils in the front with no spacers I'd be at about 1.75-2" up front and still stock height in the rear. If I put shackles on the back, it should level things out and give me a little bit of a lift. Genius idea or what!! :brows: My only problem and/or question with this setup would be what size shock I would need. Because technically I'd only have about 2" inches of lift all around. So should I get 1.5" inch shocks or 3" inch shocks since I have 3" inch coils in the front? And just to let everybody know, everything is coming from Motion Offroad so don't preach about quality cause I already know that anything other than MO, RE, and Hell Creek is BAAAAD!!
-
What about a track bar? Do I need one with only 3" inches of lift or could I save myself $200 bucks and get away without one?
-
I was thinking about putting a small lift on my MJ, just some more ground clearance for mild offroading and a more agressive stance. Since I am on a semi-small budget, I was thinking of somewhere in the 3" range would be good for my purposes. So I started searching and I found a 3" inch lift from Skyjacker. I already know that Rusty's and Rough Country have similar kits as this one (and I know Rusty's and Rough Country sucks) but from what I have heard, Skyjacker is supposed to be pretty good quality. BUT........it doesn't look like a very complete kit, do you think I should add sway bar disconnects or a track bar to go along with this thing or would it be good as is? SKYJACKER KIT http://www.quadratec.com/products/76017_815.htm Similar Rough Country Kit http://4wdtruck.com/jeepparts/index.php ... e964932024

She is the cousin of one of the moderators on the site that I admin.. She was supposed to be at our annual campout weekend last April, but he ended up having to go to Japan because of his job and couldn't be there so she wouldn't come either. haha, yea? well I've played water polo with Tony Romo (he's from my home town) so there. (but she's hotter...and the girl part is the winner lol) I'm glad that you all like my avatar. :D But I mean who in the world could not love that pic because the way I see it... HOT GIRL + JEEP = AWESOMENESS!!!

Nice find. Should post these pics in the Pub so more people get to see them.

I'm pissed too!! Every school district around me either got a delay, got out early or BOTH!! We got absolutely nothing and are stuck in school the entire day just watching it snow!!!!! :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop:

:agree: If you could find a black lower dash, center console, and black door panels, I think those seats would look AWESOME!!

Finally got around to snapping some pics of my MJ. It's a 1992 Pioneer Metric Tonne LWB 4X4 with 1.75" spacers up front with new shocks, hardly any rust, full gauges, buckets, new tires, and chrome front end. Wannabee pose :D
-
Ok, I decided to ditch the 4X4 idea, and go for the farthest distance after all. As of yesterday it was went the furthest (70 feet) but today one other group got within .4 of a meter of mine!!! The major problem with my car is that the wheels wobble ALOT when it goes and I can't get them to stay straight!! :headpop: They're held on by hot glue but it seems like the hot glue is too flexible and can't stay in place. So I was thinking that if I used a less flexible glue such as Gorrilla Glue they might be able to keep their shape. Any other suggestions on how to make the wheels stay in line and not wobble. :???: I'll have pics of it tonight hopefully.

As my one teacher always says, "Life sucks, then you die." Very depressing quote IMO, but if you think about it, it really is true! :D
