  1. Thanks for the reply Motion. What about a track bar relocation bracket then? My lift is just a tad over 3". Would the bracket bring me closer to center?
  2. I was eyeballing my truck this afternoon, and noticed the drivers side tire sticks out of the wheelwell a good 1/2"-3/4" more than the passengers side; a result of the lift I'm sure. Don't knoiw why I have not noticed this before. I'm going to disconnect my stock track bar at the axle tomorrow, jump up and down a few times to center the axle, and see if I have room to drill another hole in the axle bracket. Never have done this before. My question is will I have any trouble lining up the holes to reconnect the track bar if there's not enough room for a new hole?
  3. Thanks shipmate. #1 is about half way through now, and the few times they let her call she reports she is doing well. She flew thru all the PT tests but had problems with the night navigation, which a nurse really needs. Next week they will be deployed in the field, practicing leadership skills and living like animals. But that's supposed to be good for team bonding I guess. :D
  4. Thanks for the correction TNT. You're right, 1994 was the last year for our style seats. Just checked again.
  5. In 1996 the XJ seat brackets/style changed, and will not "bolt-in" w/o mods. 1995 and below will.
  6. Ah, the Chebbie drop shackles. Remember now. :D I tried a set of them quire awhile back; they were a bit wider than the spring bushing, maybe 1/4" or so I used a couple of HD washers so they wouldn't bend in when tightened. Worked okay though........
  7. As long as you c-clamp the bottle jack base flange on both sides to the spring and wedge the upper portion of the jack between the frame cross members before applying jack tension the leaf pack can't go anywhere. Yes, it's easier but I've never had any problems doing it this way. Very little jack tension is needed; you can turn the jack screw by inserting a screw driver in the slot. Anyhow, this is just a suggestion, and I think it's as safe as any other method.
  8. From a previous post: I've done this quite a few times, and I don't even bother jacking anything up anymore. I use the good old MJ standard bottle jack between the rear spring and frame, and crank it up to just put pressure on the spring. To be "safe" I put a couple of C-clamps on the base of the bottle jack to hold it securely to the spring. Then loosten and remove the shackle bolt nuts, pull the bolts (bottom bolt first), pull the shackle, then jack it up another inch or so until the bolt holes line up with your new extended shackle and reverse the procedure, inserting the top bolt first. Do one side at a time; takes about 15-20 minutes per side.
  9. I like Miller High Life. I also like your icon Taz; the BL Lime bottle looks like the clear High Life bottle. A good caption would be "High Life for a Low Life". But I don't have the graphics talent to do this........
  10. Never made that one Wahoo. Sounds great. There are so many great places in Tidewater and close by you'll never hit them all. Another super spot is Nick's in Yorktown, VA. It's been there for so many many years. Right on the York River, great place to see where the 4th really started with the battlefield tour next door. It's a busy place 'bout this time of the year matey. :USAflag: :D :USAflag:
  11. Well, crap. I definitely have to agree w. the MiniBeast on this, on both graphics for sure :D and the subject product. There's only one thing worse than BL Lime, and that's BL w/o lime. Dayem, terrible stuff........... But if there's nothing else, I'll force myself.
  12. Yeah, I've been lubing the various linkage and cable ball and socket joints w. the white lithium grease for years; throttle body, tranny, and even the load sensing valve out back pretty regularly for years. Mainly because of sticking problems caused in the past w. carb linkages. But have not ever tried to lube a shielded cable's internals, except on a motorcycle or bicycle. Maybe I should do that occasionally too..........

  14. Dayem, you're making me hungry. My parents used to live on Gwynn's Island in Mathews county, and I still have a sister in Gloucester, so I've been to just about every seafood place within 100 miles or so of there. Two of my favorites (besides Lowery's) are the Seabreeze on Gwynn's Island, and Taylor's Restaurant in Deltaville. Both are great places to suck cold beer and fresh oysters. Taylors has an all-ya-can eat seafood buffet that is fantastic. I get up there about every three years or so and pig out.
  15. Don't know if you've been there Wahoo, but try Lowery's Restaurant in Tappahannock. Great oysters and crabs.
  16. Here's Hesco's parts hauler: http://www.hesco.us/customergallery.asp?action=form&formID=1725&recordID=90227 I got a chance to drive this thing last year - what a blast!
  17. No offense, but "kind of my own testing" and "i drive damn near the same way with........and without" doesn't really give me warm fuzzies all over. Military bases banned yakking on cell phones while driving many years ago - accidents went waaaaaaay down. I'd like to see it banned everywhere. There ain't nothing so important that you can't take a minute, pull over and do your cell thingy, then get underway again. Except maybe if you're trying to get to the beer store, it's late, and you need to know when they close. ONLY KIDDING!
  18. The 1990 and below water pumps are different, but I don't see why not if the molded hoses fit as like mine. Heater core is the same. Or you could use ordinary heater hose, not the 97+ molded ones. Compare your's w. my pic and see it the water pump heater hose IN and OUT nipples are in the same location. Oh, and you have to block off the vacuum line that went to the water pump too. :D
  19. If you are swapping a 97+ dash, you won't have the vacuum line from the HVAC controls going to the water valve anyhow because there isn't one, so just use the 97+ hoses like so:
  20. ARGH! What a merciless lot of bastids ye are. Don't ya know they're pretty tasty barbequed w. plenty of hot sauce? Especially the young ones... Sorry Jeff, just had to do it..........
  21. Just before I was transferred to Seoul , S. Korea in the early 90s I purchased a two year old Celebrity wagon and had it shipped over there. Bought it at a GSA government auction for $4000. Seoul is probably the worst place in the world to drive, horrendous traffic and size rules all. I banged that thing off the Kias, Daewoos, Hyundais and other Korean junk for three years and it never let me down. Then I was transferred to Guam, shipped the Celebrity there, and immediately sold it for $4000. As far as I know, it's still running around the island as a taxi cab....... Great cars.
  22. Thanks Bob, can't wait till the little guy sees it. Dayem, I was over 40 before I caught one this big, and that was in the Philippines, in a lake called Laguna De Bay. It was stocked w. largemouths by GIs after WWII, and there's 14-16 pounders there. Never caught one that big though...
  23. Good explanation Jonathan. You really do not want to enlarge the existing radio opening. What you do is take all the measurements (l.w,d) w. the old cassette player w. the bracket installed, then duplicate the measurements w. the new single DIN radio, then drill the side mount holes. I slotted mine slightly. It's tight, just take take your time.
  24. Don, The only way I fished in the PI and Guam was to look at the fish in the eye when I speared 'em with my Hawaiian sling. The Lapu Lapu (grouper) was one of the tastiest fish I have ever had. :D LOL. Lapu Lapu - that brings back memories. I used to go TDY to Diego Garcia out in the Indian Ocean a lot while in the PI. I'd bring a crew on Filipino workes and we'd stay sometimes 2-3 months working comms jobs. This was some of the best fishing in the world. My job was to keep the crew supplied with fresh fish. :D Dayem, best job I ever had. :D We regularly caught 300+ pound lapu lapu from the reef in the 14' Boston Whalers the Navy had there using 500# s/s braided line on a hand rig tied to the bow. We used small live 20 lb. groupers for bait. Some of the stuff we hooked there we had to cut the line so we didn't swamp the boat. The bonefish in the lagoons went up to 25# and we caught them wading in the flats on light tackle. Talk about fun..........
