  1. LOL. But in this case I enjoyed it, watching him crank his little heart out. :D But yes, being upstaged by some young whippersnapper seems to happen more frequently lately.
  2. P/n 56027012 is the one you need. Maybe Taz can help you out?
  3. I KNEW someone would do it. Sigh......... Will do! :brows:
  4. Yeah, the kid even called twice after he got home "Uncle Don, when are we going fishing again?" His Mom said he can't sleep and has been to the freezer a couple of times seeing if his fish is still there. I think we created a fishing monster............. :D
  5. Under all the crud you can tell by the leaf spacers ovaled shaped retainer holes and the spring clamp and it's position that they are original, unless someone years ago went to a lot of trouble using OEM spring parts while building a leaf pack.
  6. Yep - those are the HD springs. Except unfortunately you have the "Extra Special" WI seasoning. Prolly the individual leafs have corroded to 1/2 of their effective original thickness.
  7. Those sure look like regulation 4+1 metric ton springs. Under all that 'brown' stuff is there a p/n stamped Bob? Or has that "Special" seasoning obliterated the stamping?
  8. Run the VIN anyhow thru Chrysler. I don't trust rumors. :D
  9. My two nephews (8 and 6 years old) came over today with their Mom and Dad, so I took them all fishing (minus Mom) out back in the lake. We were trolling for crappie and had a good pile of them in the cooler and were headed back to the house, when the six year old screamed (again) that and said he had a fish on. He had only said this 456,202 times so far, and hadn't caught a fish all day. I looked back and thought he was snagged on a log (again) then his pole bent double, and he did have a FISH on. 8 lb. test, trolling tiny Beetle Spins. I had visions of a AL state record crappie, but when the fish jumped, it was a huge bass. The little guy got it in all by himself (luckily the drag was set right) after three minutes of furious cranking, and his Dad netted it. It weighed out on my hand held scale at 8 lbs 12 oz, a very good bass. Ran in the house to take some pics, the camera was dead, changed batteries, still dead. The little guy's bass is in the freezer, and we had a great crappie dinner w. hush puppies and all the fixins w. plenty of beer, and the bass is headed for the taxidermist Monday. NOT a fish story, completely true. Largest bass I ever caught here was an even 9 lbs, and this little guy gets one nearly as big with crappie gear. Twas a good day......
  10. You have a weird sense of humor CW, but I like it. I hope though that you used a s/s coffee can for the fart can, otherwise it'll be gone by mid-November in CT-land. Or did you just rattle can it? Maxwell House or Folgers? :chillin:
  11. The exports (still using TBI) used a different pump, but if both your XJs are domestic, you should be golden. I ASSuMEd your donor fuel pump was removed and sitting on a shelf? If so, just use a battery charger or your battery for a 12V power source and temp wire it up with the pump submerged in a bucket of fuel, discharge line to another container. Will not check pressure of course, but if it runs and pumps it should be okay to use. I did this w. an advertised NOS Bosch pump I got from Ebay (it was not), ran it both ways by reversing the polarity (it was crudded up), took a chance and installed it in the tank, and that was four years ago. Still going strong.
  12. It has the Street Comanche rear tube bumper, wheels, and grille. Best to run the VIN. If it's authentic and the body is okay, it's well worth $1K.
  13. According to my 91-93 parts manual the XJs all use the same fuel pump for these years. Put some inlet/outlet hoses on it into a bucket of gas, and give it a smoke test. Not going to say don't create a spark as I'm sure you already know what could happen. You can even run it backwards for a second or two to flush any crud out.
  14. It's a 91 HO. That's what the coolant overflow tank is supposed to look like. $4125 and rising; hasn't met his reserve yet. It's a NJ truck - I'd never buy it for that much even if it was parked for 17 years.
  15. I have the factory tow option documented somewhere buried, will have to dig Wahoo. Maybe it was an optional option? It's late mate, I'll try to find it maƱana.
  16. The towing package option included the 5-leaf heavy duty springs (and shocks) and was available on both the long and short WB models.
  17. Low miles too. Item # 220244298095.
  18. I asked Charles at Alcan some of the same questions when I was researching the metric ton springs. The load spec on the 3+2 was 1500 lb.; the 4+1 was 1440. Not much difference. Alcan says either spring will net you 2-1/2" - 3" of lift. When I first put mine on I was at 3", but they have settled 1/2" over the last two years as all springs normally do. Made up for that with extended shackles which helped road handling. I haul around the camper, and with as much crap as I can get in the back, they never budge. Nice ride too w. the OME ZJ shocks in the back, and OME 3" lift coils and shocks up front. Metric ton springs came on both 2WD and 4WD MJs. "True" MT packs will have the p/n stamped on top of the upper long leaf. When I had mine made up, they mistakenly sent me their "pattern" spring, a genuine new 52003676. This gave me a chance to compare the manufactured springs to the original. They were identical, including the arch.
  19. 1990 and below were 52003676; 91-92 were 52001825. But of course there were overlaps as in most other parts. :D
  20. The metric ton springs came in two flavors. They are both 5 leaf, but the leaf configuration was different. P/n 52001825 has 4 thinner leafs and one flat bottom leaf. P/n 52003676 spring has 3 thinner leafs and 2 heavy bottom leafs. These are the springs I have on my truck. Both of these springs have the same rate of # per inch but because the 3676 has just a little more arch they give a 1500# capacity, and also added 2-1/2" of lift.
  21. I'm hoping the Celts can close it out Sunday night back in the Gahden on Father's Day. That will make my day.
  22. That's correct Chico.
  23. I guess I'm the only one on the forum watching the NBA playoffs. Game 4 tonight; best comeback in NBA playoff history. Celts down 24, Fakers choked, gasped, etc. etc. at home in the second half, Celts up 3-1. Damn, life is sweet. :beerhead:
  24. What? I thought NASA made these clusters, NASA Japan that is. Well, it ain't the gauge. He's had three of them and they are all reading consistently. I've noticed also that my laser temp gauge reads about 10* lower than the actual coolant temperature when hitting the outside metal surfaces like temp sensors and thermostat housings. Verified it with an old fashioned mercury thermometer.
  25. Well, I know for a fact that the last gauge you put in was calibrated correctly. :chillin: Here's what you can do. Start your engine up. When the temp gauge indicates 180*, disconnect the wire from the temp thermister and accurately measure the resistance between the thermister tip and ground. Stick the wire back on, and repeat at 210* then at normal running temperature. Let me know what these three resistance readings are. Not going to tell you what they should be so you're not looking for a certain resistance. :D
