Windshield Washer Reservoir Upgrade
HOrnbrod replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You're not supossed to have power on the low level float switch. When the float is all the way down, the contacts close and a ground is sent to the cluster lamp. But if one side of the float switch doesn't make it to the lamp of course it won't work. Mine was all hardwired in. :hmm: Oh, and my FSM shows the washer low level wire coming into the cluster on pin 1 of the cluster connector. This is for my 91 HO, but I think the connector pinouts are the same. -
Windshield Washer Reservoir Upgrade

I don't think the low level indicator is unnessary at all 'cause I put the 97+ inside the fender well tank in mine. Can't just eyeball it. :D For me in worked fine after I plugged the harness connector in to the low level sensor and added the bulb to the cluster. But if your cluster is equipped for ABS, it's a different pinout on the cluster harness, and a different socket for the low level bulb. Also check out the float sensor at the low empty position to make sure you have continuity between the two contacts with an multimeter. Continuity is what turns on the indicator light. -

WJ type lower control arms
HOrnbrod replied to hogelectra's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very worthwhile modification. The improved WJ LCA bushings and the thicker V8 swaybar (or one from an XJ Country model) with new bar and end link bushings really tightens up the steering and helps out on body roll. -
Good points Taz. Indy is real hot now, but I'd much rather see the Steelers in there because I'm sick of seeing P. Manning hawking everything on TV ad nauseum. He's the Billy Mays of football. And I think the Steelers would be the tougher team for the Giants, because when the Steeler defense gets rolling on all eight cylinders, they play smashmouth football better than anybody else in the league. Except the Giants of course....... :beerhead:

There's one in 'Bama too and stuff like that can be seen regularly running down the roads.

Giants all the way to the Bowl baby. :D Only NFC team I'm concerned about are the Eagles, should they play each other. As for the Giants AFC victim I'm pickin' Tennessee. Who do y'all like?

Me too. -
Welcome aboard, and it's good to hear you are keeping that fine MJ in the family. To answer your question, that Fey bumper listed on Amazon is a Comanche-specific bumper, and will work fine on your rig. It does not use the stock bumper mounts and requires the additional mounting kit to bolt-on. That's not a bad price either including shipping. :D

MJ Wheel Stance WITH PICS WAHOO!
HOrnbrod replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store is very much in business; but http://www.groupbuy.com went belly up. Maybe this is the outfit you're thinking of. The SpiderTrax WS-002 spacers are their 5th best seller, they were out of stock, so they had to refer the order directly to the mfg. in CO. According to them, SpiderTrax dropped the ball. Anyhow, it's not like my truck is down because of it........ -

I have been waiting too, but not patiently. The bastids just sent me the UPS tracking number TODAY after several emails and phone calls listening to their whining about how busy they are during the holidays. I don't recommend these guys: http://www.4x4groupbuy.com -
Had to drag this up after a crazy NFL day - the Eagles are IN the show. Kinda came back from the dead and backed in, but they made it. Oh, and Pete, congrats on your Lions' perfect record.

All you wanted to know about oil and oil filters
HOrnbrod replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Here's a list of the larger than stock oil filters that will fit our rigs for both for both the 5.2" long and 6.9" long models. They all fit our thread, 3/4x16. These longer filters provide an additional 1/2 to 3/4 quart of oil in the system. Fram is omitted for obvious reasons. :D 5.178" HIGH, 3.660" DIA, 3/4-16 AC-Delco PF2 Motorcraft FL-1A Purolator PL30001- my favorite Napa 1515 Wix 51515 Mobil 1 M1-301 6.93" HIGH, 3.660" DIA, 3/4-16 AC-Delco PF42 Motorcraft FL299 Purolator L40017 Napa 1773 Wix 51773 -
95 H.O. convert. brake lights...
HOrnbrod replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The largest injectors Mopar used in a stock HO motor were the the #53030778 gray tops (23.2lb/hr @ 49psi). These were used in the 96-98 models. I am using these in my stroker, and at first they ran rich until we cranked down the fuel pressure. But since I stuck on the 2000 intake, the f/p is now back up to 46# for the best overall A/F ratio. I can almost guarantee 24# injectors will be too much for a non-stroked engine unless an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and/or an adj. MAP is fitted to regulate them. And if you're keeping the Renix fue; pump, I have no idea how that will work w. fuel delivery. -
Dude, try not to be funny anymore; you just show your ignorance. And take your clever name calling over to Pirate or somewhere where it will be more appreciated, dude.

Just got back from the annual in-law Christmas Eve ordeal. Was surprisingly almost enjoyable this year. One of the bro-in-laws had just finished up a new pool room addition on his house, and although I haven't played in years, after a few brews the old bar league smooth stroke came back and, it went well. :D Anyhow guys, y'all have a great holiday season, ignore the bling-bling, and always remember the real meaning of Christmas.

MJ Wheel Stance WITH PICS WAHOO!
HOrnbrod replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well sure, but that's usually because the toe adjustment is out. Have seen it on plenty of non-trucks too. I guess this was amplified in the older vehicles because the rear track was usually narrower than the front. -
MJ Wheel Stance WITH PICS WAHOO!
HOrnbrod replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmmmm. Guess I just never noticed it before. I've had a couple of GM S10s and a full size C10, but never saw it. It's real obvious w. MJs I guess because of the flares and the bed width. Well, IB fixin' that soon......... I just eyeballed my 91 FSM. Every 2WD/4WD 91 MJ, XJ, and YJ has equal track measurements (distance between the L/R wheels) front and rear, except the Grand Wagoneer SJ, which is about 2" narrower in the rear. -
MJ Wheel Stance WITH PICS WAHOO!
HOrnbrod replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Weird. I had an 01 XJ I bought new, and the wheels were equally spaced in the wheel wells. So the rears being more inboard than the fronts is an MJ thing? Mine's a LWB; is it same thing w. the SWB MJs? :hmm:
