  1. I disagree. But it's your truck and you can hack it up any way you like. The purpose of the air dam is mainly for better engine cooling. It creates a low pressure zone on the engine side of the radiator that reduces underbody turbulence and helps to increase CFM airflow through the radiator for better engine cooling at highway speeds. BUT it does nothing to help improve the aerodynamics of our brick-like trucks to improve mileage. Edited just now...
  2. What's the fuel pressure w. and w/o vacuum now? Have you tested your vacuum yet?
  3. Got an email tonight - Charlie and family were evaced and are all okay and staying with friends. Good news for sure. No news on his property and house condition yet..
  4. Anyone hear from longtime CC member ParadiseMJ? Charlie lives in Paradise, CA, and if you've been following the reports you know there's not much left there anymore. He hasn't been here since last Monday. Been trying to reach him for a few days now - anyone heard from him?
  5. 1.
  6. Way to go! Back when I got the backing plates years ago it cost me $80 / per side. $300 isn't bad at all - lot better than the whole kit.
  7. They don't show most individual parts and pieces from their kits; you have to talk to an agent to get them. The guy I always dealt with was Doug, extension 318. But that was quite awhile ago - he may be gone now or maybe even be the President of Teraflex now. Here's the spacer on Amazon.
  8. Buffalo Bob last posted here February 28, 2010. I saw a couple of posts long after that from another member who knows him in Buffalo... Sure would like to know how he's doing too....
  9. The official name is DEFLECTOR, Air, Front, Lower. No longer available. I do have a NOS Mopar one that will fit all 96 and below XJ's and MJ's I'll be listing soon in the classifieds, but it won't be junkyard cheap.
  10. You have what sounds like 12V and ground to the ECU, so check for fault codes.
  11. THAT is one fine looking dash. LHD convert using the Puma dash. Perfect..
  12. No, there's no need. I used to run Hella E-code halogens with a relay harness. When I put the Trucklites in I left the relay harness in. Later just for grins I bypassed the relay harness and the Trucklites were a tiny bit brighter, but it was really negligible. Probably just my imagination.
  13. Check out Gjeep's build thread HERE , towards the end. Good info regarding sourcing calipers, pads, and rotors for the Teraflex backing plates...
  14. The service valves make it a lot easier and simpler to recharge..
  15. Because originally several years before I found the D44 axle, I had installed a Teraflex disk brake kit on my D35 c-clip axle. The only differences between their D35 c-clip and D44 disk brake kits were backing plates and spacers. The Explorer calipers/pads and Jeep rotors they used were the same for both kits so I just reinstalled them when the D44 went in. Make sense?
  16. AMC then Mopar never installed relays in the XJ/MJ headlamp circuitry, but always did when you ordered their optional rinky-dink driving or fog lamps. I'm sure it was pure economics, but think of all the burned up wiring or worse would have been prevented. Bastids...
  17. Agree. Even if you do decide on the Trucklites later the relay harness makes a big difference with their performance too.
  18. Came out of a 90 MJ. And agree with your above post, there are no c-clip D44's I know of.
  19. I found some new ones from the supplier below. Did you try replacing the o-rings?? That's what usually goes bad with them. In my case though the stems were leaking. But this guy has (had) them. 20. I had a Teraflex kit originally installed on my 91 D35 c-clip years ago. When I finally found an MJ D44, all I had to do to transfer the disk brakes over was to purchase new D44 backing plates from Teraflex (the prefabbed plates you are looking for) and the correct D44 preload spacer since it had different specs than the c-clip spacer in order to seat the axle seals correctly. Wasn't that expensive, but that was eight years ago. I would never consider to "re-drill the bolt holes and widen the axle tube opening" on the axle flanges. That's a pretty stupid thing to do IMO...
  21. If you want to keep it original (I did) and the windshield trim is in good shape (mine was), the installer can reinstall the trim using the earlier gasket. If not, ask the installer to use the 97+ windshield gasket.

  23. What are you driving?
  24. What vehicle engineering? It was made by the Brits and you know what they say about British engineering. Probably has Lucas electrics too. But I don't care. I'd love to have one...
