  1. Toyota and Datsun pickups among others had exposed cab vents long before AMC copied them on the MJ. And yes, I like them too. :D Design flaw? Why? I've never heard of them leaking or any other problems. Image Not Found
  2. Pete's correct, it's very seldom (like never) to have a 10A draw w. the key out, doors shut, and all devices off. I usually pull all the fuses, hook up the multimeter in series w. the neg battery cable and ground, then stick the fuses back in one by one until you see a draw. Usually it's no more than 500 ma. Last Jeep I had drawing the battery down overnight was caused by an internal short in the radio - it was shorting out the radio memory voltage.
  3. No, I wasn't trying to be a smarta$$. :D It's just that I hear zero wind noise from the cab vents and wondered how it's possible w. all the other noises in the cab.
  4. That would be late 1993. This true. Unfortunately. Economically, it makes more sense to go with the WJ conversion with the bigger better front disks, more bang for the buck. One of these days.......
  5. Curious as to how you realized that ALL your cab noise was caused by the vents. Care to elaborate? :hmm:
  6. May or may not - there's equal pro and con depending on what you read. I don't care. ZDDP doesn't hurt mine at all for sure. :D Image Not Found
  7. I email various manufacturers regarding their zinc content regularly. Unless they are lying, Chenron Delo still maintains a 1300 ppm zinc count (as of six months ago); 1200 ppm is recommended for flat tappet cam engines. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm sticking with it as long as they maintain it. Too many $$ invested in the stroker to mess around with junk oils........
  8. Rotella is good, but I prefer Chevron Delo 400 LE 15w40. It meets API classification SM for older engines, and still has a 1300 ppm zinc count, one of the few. Been using it for years. They even sell it in Walmart now. :D
  9. On a scale of 1-10 with ten being the best: Waggy: 10 Chinee 2500: -1000
  10. You need to know your tire size and diff gear ratio, then go here to find the correct speedo gear: http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoSpeedoGears.htm
  11. My spare HO sender has the part number stamped on the mounting flange, so it might. But you never know from year to year. :brows:
  12. From the parts manual: SENDING UNIT, Fuel *** 5200 3671 1 w/16 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box 5200 3644 1 w/18 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box 5200 3652 1 w/23.5 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box 5200 3644 1 w/23.5 Gal. Tank - Diesel Eng. - 7 Ft. Box
  13. Thanks Jim. Rob says he'll send a couple, but if not. I'll let you know.
  14. The tanks offered in the LWB 86s were 16, 18, and 23.5 gals. Same offerings in 89 depending of SWB or LWB.
  15. There were three different fuel sending units used in the 86 gas models, all based on the thee tank sizes. So unless the 89 tank is the same size as the 86 donor, I doubt if the sender will fit w/o modification. I'm pretty sure the only differences were in the length and travel of the float arm.
  16. Do anyone of you kind gentlemen have a couple of these with pigtails you would like to part with? I sure could use one (or two would be even better). :D Thanks, -Don Image Not Found
  17. I think they are a good bunch too. Let's hope what you suspect happens. If they continue to ignore the problem, well, that would not be good.
  18. I wondered the same thing. There are a LOT more XJs out there than there are MJs, and I'd bet that a lot of XJ owners who buy custom bumpers would fully expect that a bumper with a receiver tube in it will be suitable for towing. JCR discontinued the MJ bumper but it appears they are still offering the XJ bumper. If they "can't" get the correct 1/4" wall tubing for MJ bumpers, there is no reason to think that could miraculously get it for XJ bumpers. This is an obvious case of misrepresentation and withholding information from consumers. I do not think this hitch screwup was intentional by any means, but the lame excuses about the non-availability of the correct stock and the way they are non-handling the problem ranks JCR right down there with Crustys. This "misinformation", lack of labeling on the product that it should NOT be used for towing, and no disclaimer on their website could have serious liability consequenses for JCR if a towing accident with one of these bumpers should occur. Any sharp lawyer would have little difficulty in a liability lawsuit. I have no idea how many of these bumpers have been sold to our XJ bretheren, but they also should be made aware of this problem. JCR's taking the MJ product off the website was a serious mistake. Ignoring their customers, burying their head in the sand, and not offering a viable solution was even more serious.
  19. Thank you for that enlightment. :brows: I was not asking you, I'd like to hear it from the OP.
  20. Hell of a transformation Bo. The workmanship and attention to detail is fantastic. I always follow your build and it has given me a lot of ideas. Man, I'd love to see a stroker 4.6 or better crate engine dropped in it when the time comes. Would be the perfect topping for your resurrected 97+ MJ creation mate.
  21. I'm not even try this until we hear what/where/how it sounds/where it's coming from "popping noise" is. Sounds fuel related though.............
  22. She's the same Cali congresswoman who's been in and out of trouble with the Ethics Committee for years, but always gets away with it. Wonder why?
