Sounds good. I'd still verify the charging voltage across the battery terminals. The alternator voltage regulator on your 91 is built-in to the ECU computer. Autozone can do it for ya.
-
Not necessarily. Place a voltmeter across the battery terminal and measure the charging voltage. It should be at least 13.5 VDC when the RPM is 1500 or so. If the voltage is okay, get the battery load tested. If not, it's the charging system; alternator, regulator, or badly corroded terminals on the mains cables.

Eliminator Sticker Measurement?
HOrnbrod replied to over2land's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
LOL. Yeah Rob, you're the one who got me thinking of getting rid of the "swoosh" decal I have now. The Elim decals would look mucho better IB thinking. Not a true Eliminator, but has everything the Elim has and a lot more. -
Eliminator Sticker Measurement?

Spencer; I too would be interested in a set of these Elim decals. The 91-92 Eliminator models were available in both the long and short bed models, see the pic below. Can you make the two per side bed decals long enough to fit the LWB MJs also since they have to be trimmed anyhow? -
Nice job on the floors. That truck wasn't originally from Wisconsin was it? :D Just as a FYI, Jeep Saginaw TC power steering pumps & reservoirs used on the 4.0 are basically the same from 1987-2004. They most all swap, and usually the only difference is the angle of the hose nipples. When I installed the 2004 TJ pump on mine, the pump hose was too close to the manifold, so I swapped out the old reservoir from my 91 pump to the 2004 pump. Worked fine.

This is the one you need for your 88 4.0. It's nearly idiot proof. Fel-Pro - Valve Cover Gasket Set Part Number: VS50522T

What washers? Am I blind? Only thing I see are the light mounting points, that are OEM. :dunno:

Jeep Trailduster..... coming to a dealer near you.
HOrnbrod replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in The Pub
Another Lee Iacocca wannabe. :rotf: The Fiat Panda aka now known as the new Jeep Trailduster WILL sell, no doubt. It's cheap, has a proven track record, gets super mileage, and fills an often neglected niche. The reliable "on demand" AWD is an ideal vehicle for college students, housewives, and other novice drivers and takes away the guess work for inexperienced drivers. It's a good grocery-hauler in the winter and great transportation for students. Not a bad choice for the $$ and it offers more than most vehicles in it's price range. Do I want one - NO, but I'd surely consider it for my two daughters in college. Is it a Jeep - NO. Re-badging and slapping a vertical slot grille on the Panda doesn't make it a Jeep. I feel it should sell well and hopefully the sales profits realized from this little critter Chrysler will reinvest into a new model Jeep pickup we can all like. Not holding my breath though............. -
Well, it's a LOT better in the States regarding firearms control, but I have to relate this "incident" I experienced while stationed in the Philippines. My wife and I were returning home from a nice dinner at the Subic Bay officers club. We had to pass through town (Olongapo) to get to our off-post house. While sitting at a red traffic light, an obviously drunk Philippine fool cop in uniform staggered across the street in front of my truck (had an 87 XJ at the time), looked in my windshield, saw my wife was a Filipina, made an abrupt left turn, opened his fly, and proceeded to squirt on my front bumper. This was about 10PM. I had rammed a few San Miguels at the club, lost it, jumped out of the XJ, grabbed the SOB and rammed his head into the hood a few times and proceeded to clock this clown best I could. This of course created a lot of attention; his buddies ran out of the Philippine Constable bar these a$$holes frequented. Wifey screamed to get back into the XJ, which I promptly did, and hauled. The bastids blew out my rear hatch window w. a one lucky shot, as they all had M16s they walked around with. Got home, parked the XJ for a few weeks, and used my BMW motor to commute to work until I got a new rear hatch and repaired the damage. Stupid - I suppose so. Would I do it again, NOT with a qualified maybe. But at the time it was instant rage, and that's not a good thing. Mama still talks about it since she had daughter #1 maturing in the oven. My regret is that I dented the hood pretty badly with this jerk's head. Should have used the bumper. I have all the respect possible for our US of A police officers, but not much for our overseas neighbors.

Have to apologize for calling Eagle a dinosaur in another post; it seems there are lots of dinosaurs here. Including me. The newest Jeep I owned was an 01 XJ, one of the last produced. Bought it for the wife, but of course she didn't like it (It rides bouncy! Reply: Of course it rides bouncy fool - it's a freakin' Jeep! Typical conversation). Traded in in for a new Malibu Maxx SS - she loves that. And nope, I haven't seen anything JeeP has produced since the last XJ that I'd ever consider. :( -
:agree: 100%. Interesting concept. ASSume you have done a site survey regarding available real estate, cooling, and tranny options and deemed it's doable. Good out of the box stuff. Sounds great to me.

HOrnbrod replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in The Pub
Yeah, agree with that. Just pointing out how Mopar now is trying to cash in by using marque names from their once glorious past to peddle their new junk. And the title of the thread was Trail Duster, si? -

Jeep Trailduster..... coming to a dealer near you.

Both were great vehicles, although I always preferred the sheet metal on the Plymouths. :D It was a beast in the 4WD 440ci configuration. -
The 5-pin connector changed in 92, but the wiper motor itself is the same 84-01. Neg ground. You can wire on the old-style connector to the new motor, and vice-versa by matching wire function, not the color codes.

88 2.5 TBI ignition timing
HOrnbrod replied to airspeed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Correct, you can not adjust the timing manually, but the timing marks are on the cover are still there to verify the actual TDC timing advance and most importantly the stability of the timing under different RPMs by using a timing light. Slop in the dizzy and/or a worn dizzy gear among other causes can be detected quickly, and the timing light is still a valuable troubleshooting tool.
