  2. Wish I did Rob. All that stuff went to the ex unfortunately........ :(
  3. Hey you young whipper snappers, the old 53 flathead wasn't NEW when I had it. I also had a 36 5-window Ford coupe at one time that wasn't new. I'm old, but not that old.
  4. Yes. Since you're in Cali, your load leveling valve should still be in good operating shape. Fitting a new adjustable rod is easy and cheap. I'd try that first and see how the brakes perform. The length of the rod must match the lift. If it's adjustable you can tune the rear brake bias it in to your preference.
  5. Yep. I love flatheads. You could do about anything to a Ford flathead and it would still run smooth as silk. One of the favorite cars I have owned was a 53 Ford Victoria with a 51 Lincoln 337 flathead engine. It used to eat the early 55 and up Chev V8s for lunch. Ah, you reminded me of yesteryear Jim. Gracias. :D
  6. Or if you have an auto tranny, pull the flexplate inspection cover and do the same thing. Easier than pulling the starter.
  7. Nope, 89 and below are metric allen heads. These are hardened steel and are very difficult to "round out". The Allen wrench will round first. Get the correct 7mm allen (I use 3/8" drive sockets), tap it in the hole, and it should come loose.
  8. My 91 2WD also has the 7mm female allen caliper slide pins. The 88 4WD/2WD caliper bolts are the same. Then after 89, the slide pins were different between 2WD and 4WD too. Cornfused yet? :D
  9. Would be nice if you let us know the model, year, etc. of your application 1tonMJ and what you are trying to do. Varies throughout the years. :dunno:
  10. :agree: Autopals suck compared to Hellas - had both, like night and day. 'Course, the Hella E-codes cost more unfortunately. :( Here's an old post from yesteryear how I did mine. I'm sure costs have gone up since then as everything else has................ "Here's how I did mine w. costs. Got the Hella 200mm H4 e-code glass lamp shells from Susquehanna Motor Sports ($34/ea). Then picked up from eBay four IPF 80w/60w H4 bulbs ($10 w. shipping, but you can used any wattage H4 bulb you want) and wired in a universal APC 4-lamp wiring harness w. relays (much cheaper than the 2-lamp, just cut off the extra two H4 sockets, Ebay, $9 w. shipping) which fit my MJ perfectly. Then put in a separate fuse block mounted near the PDC on the right fender well and fused the high and low beams separately w. 20A fuses."
  11. I think reson46 (Willy) had a similar problem? Might try to PM him and ask. :D
  12. Great solution. I looked up that Dorman part and it's a push-in grommet type elbow. The newer valve covers (at least my 91 alloy cover) uses a 1/4-turn lock twist lock elbow, kind of like the oil filler cap. If you know of a Dorman replacement that will work for these covers please post it mate. Gracias. :D
  13. Anyone affected by these in Ohio and Illinois? Tis the season. :( We dodge these damn things all the time down here. Hope y'all are okay and well.
  14. I used a 2-gang switch for my drivers side window (from a passenger side door), and a 1-gang switch (from an XJ rear door) for passenger door. Kept it simple; I didn't put in power door locks. The only plugs I used were at the door window switches; the stock molded plugs. I think the "body control module" is from the security system? Not sure. I have plenty of these switches and panels and pigtails. Send me your email address and I can send schematics on how I wired my power windows and mirrors up. -Don
  15. These are hard to find as you know. I opted to make my own cross-body harnesses for my 91 using modified OEM window switches/pigtails (didn't want power locks) and power mirror switch/pigtail in the console. Once you figure out the wiring it's easy.
  16. At least you're not in Gainesville. :D I think the Gators will be better this year now that their media darling T-bone is gone and they won't be depending on him for everything.
  17. They are called spring nuts and if you can't fine the correct size at Lowes or Home Depot, Fastenal has a huge assortment. http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex?N=0&Ntk=Search+All&Ntt=clip+nuts&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1
  18. Pete's a Detroit fan, I admire that, but if it happened to a Boston or New York pitcher, we'd not hear a peep from him. Many years ago, a similar bad ump call prevented a perfect game by Sox pitcher Luis "El Tiante" Tiant, but it happened in the forth inning, so no big deal was made of it. Additionally, umps have made many tough bang-bang calls in favor of the team that had a no-hit no-run game going that were obviously bad calls, but you don't hear much flack about those. Baseball is close to remaining a pure game as designed; don't flock it up as they have with B-ball, hockey, and football. Screw replays in baseball.
  19. A bit more tact would be beneficial. :D FWIW, I've been through every parts manual I have (I have many), and the XJ/MJ version D44 axle makes no mention of a crush sleeve. Only shims.
  20. It says you're living on borrowed time. I don't carry one either, but sooner or later it will happen. Hopefully later. :D
  21. God has spoken. :rotfl2:
  22. Yep, and I don't like that either. But with the shadows and distant look angles the umps get of long fly balls, you could almost justify a replay to determine if it's fair or foul, but I still don't like it. Let's hope the replays don't go any further than that, or better yet, get rid of them altogether. I don't like the AL designated hitters either. :fs1: They always have to tinker with a sport until it's ruined. Leave baseball alone........
  23. After a long drought, there were TWO perfect games pitched last month. Oakland's Dallas Braden on 05-09-2010 and Philly's Roy Halladay on 05-29-2010. Must be getting easier or the singles hitters like Pete Rose are all gone? Now almost another perfect game. I saw the replays and yes, it was a blown call for sure. But that's part of the human element that's been in baseball for over a century, and I don't want all that instant relay crap injected in baseball too. I like it as is, blown calls and all.
