  1. Me either mvusse. Looks like it won't fit the Sanden compressor I have anyhow. According to everything I've found, the Sanden 709 A/C compressors were not used on Jeep 4.0 applications until 1997. They mount with vertical bolts. Anyhow, the upper hose support bracket is a good idea as my hose is showing some rub marks; I'll just fab one out of aluminum bar stock and coat it with Plasti Dip.
  2. Thanks Mike! But my compressor doesn't look like yours though. It's a Sanden 709T. :hmm:
  3. According to the factory parts manuals, all 87-96 XJ/MJ vehicles have a upper radiator support hose on models with the 4.0 engine and w. factory A/C. It's part number is 83505291. My rig does not have one. I found an image of one below. Can anyone tell me if they have one installed and how does it mount? Looks like a clip on one end and a bolt/nut on the other. Gracias amigos. :hmm:
  4. I see no reason why not. Lexan would probably be better because it's stronger. There's no contact with fluids and no bearing load to worry about; it should work just fine. You could use the white foam gasket as in the below pic as a template.
  5. I have a stock chrome step with just a minor trailer hitch ball dent in it. Didnt realize they were that rare No rarer than any other rear MJ bumper, including the factory tube bumper.
  6. P/n 82200988 had the drilled mounting holes in the bumper for the black license plate light guards, p/n 82200988AB did not. Always drooling every time i see your mj! Such a clean, good lookin truck! Thank you kind Sir!

  8. Check to make sure you didn't install it upside down. Also, do you have a part number for the one you installed?
  9. http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/ lists nearly the entire MJ parts database on their site and never updates it. I seriously doubt they have one. Of course miracles can happen. I hope so. EDIT: Yes, I just found it, quantity one. It is for a Laredo so if they do have it in stock it comes with the silver end caps. Also the brackets, step plates, wiring, and marker lights are included. Good luck.
  10. That's interesting, considering that they didn't use the AX-15 in either 2000 or 2001. The 5-speed NV3550 manual was used in the 00 and 01 XJ. It used the same 52003929 crossmember. .
  11. Not true. 91-92 and some 93 models used long shaft speedo gears; all had electronic speedometers. Manual or auto transmission does not matter. The correct speedo gear tooth count is determined by tire diameter and rear differential gear ratio. Also the plastic gears themselves are the same for all. You can swap the shafts between the gears easily.
  12. My 91 MJ also has these brackets; eight bolts total on the crossmember.
  13. Picky, picky. I changed it.
  14. There were only two factory transmission crossmembers used in 1988 and 1991. In 1988 the AW4 and BA-10 used the 52002328 crossmember and the AX-15 used the 52003929. In 1991 the AW4 used the 52002328; the AX-15 the 52003929. The exhaust pipe cutout is always on the right. So it has to be a matter of which set of mounting holes are used.
  15. Some aftermarket thermostats are not marked, so you might have put it in upsidedown. The pellet on the thermostat should be facing toward the engine. I have had problems with aftermarket thermostats being bad right out of the box. For that reason I always use a thermostat from the dealer. They also have a hole with a jiggle valve that allows flow even when closed and helps bleed air from the system.
  16. With your help, here's what I think happened. At one time or another, someone had the tranny out, and instead of pressing the plastic hose adapter back in, they used an axle vent like below with the top hat. That's what feels like is in there. Image Not Found I have no hose. Just the above pressed into the top of the tranny. So I'd like to do it right with the hose adapter that is supposed to be there, run new 1/4' hose and put the check valve up on the firewall. I do have the correct check valve. Will the hose adapter you have press into the tranny hole w/o a collar or shim Jim?
  17. Thanks Jim. If you're willing to part with it, I'll take it. That's not what's in my AW4. I'd like to run it up higher to the firewall.
  18. Thanks Jim. I can't see it, just going by feel. It also has like a hat on it that will turn / is movable. It feels like this pic I found: The rear axle breather is also a press fit too, just a plastic hose adapter. Hmm, wonder if that would work?
  19. I'm blowing a bit of ATF when hot and it appears my AW4 isn't vented because I'm missing the vent tube adapter and there is no vent hose from the top of the transmission. It's part #42 in the below diagram. Does anyone have a blown AW4 with this adapter they could part with? Can't find one anywhere. Or if anyone knows how this adapter attaches to the AW4 housing (assume it's 1/8" or 1/4" national pipe thread?) that would be great too.
  20. I really feel for you going through this. I've been through the same, although not with a Jeep stroker engine. Lesson learned. It's tough, and it ain't no fun at all. That's the reason I went with the Hesco crate stroker years ago. Hoping you get everything sorted out w/o breaking the bank. Hang in there.
  21. Probably they come from struggling drug dealers that have been busted?

  23. Yes, but not by "Turning your front to match the direction you want to go". With RWD you turn your front wheels in the direction of the skid; with FWD you turn in the direction you want to go and punch it. I'm sure you know how to get out of a skid depending on what you're driving being from AK. Lots of opportunity up there to excel. maybe I just read it wrong.
  24. As always Sam, marvelous, simply marvelous, darling. Always enjoy. Good seeing your well-traveled canine is always there too.
  25. Wrong, unless you're driving a Prius or some other POS with front wheel drive. And to whom are you talking to?
