  1. The 93-98 ZJ quick ratio steering box is a very popular upgrade for the older slow ratio Saginaw 70s-80s GM cars. As such, their cost is steadily increasing. And I agree 100% with reman-ed Saginaw boxes; I would not touch one. To the OP, after you have eliminated the possible causes suggested posted above, consider replacing your existing steering gear box with a good used low mileage ZJ box from the yard. Even if it's not the root cause of your steering problems, it will definitely help to make it feel better.

  4. Fifty-ish. I'll let Gus know Bo. I don't think he'll listen though.
  5. NICE score! Image Not Found
  6. Which injury? You mean the ripped out claw on his foot? If so, yep, good as new. It grew back perfectly. We got him from the local shelter back in 09 when he was about a year old. I promised my youngest daughter a pet of her choice if she graduated from high school with honors. She did, and she wanted to find a shelter dog to save. We found Gus locally who had been adopted a couple of times but didn't work out because he bit people. No fear, he just charged and attacked. No one wanted the little bastid, and the shelter was going to euthanize him. They also had no idea of his history. She wanted him anyhow, and we worked with him all summer. He never once tried to bite any of us, and with work and patience he turned out to be a great little Cocker spaniel. He still has plenty of aggression, but takes it out on trespassers in the yard. Geese, possums, raccoons, turtles, other dogs, cats, and especially snakes. It's fun to watch him patrolling and doing his work. He's about eight years old now (estimated of course) and has never bit a person since we got him. He's my buddy and still going strong.
  7. Here's a couple: Avatar He's quit smoking now......... Red-eyed MJ Helper
  8. Sold for $2,600. I think they caught a tuna....
  9. Roll on, carry on. That's the fuel pump ballast resistor bypass relay.
  10. Roll on............
  11. Perfect. That's just what I need. Thanks Bo.
  12. So the Stage 8 collector bolts come with nuts similar to the below? If so, I didn't know that.
  13. Thanks Bo. But I'm not sure I understand how they work. My header collector to the exhaust flange uses three 3/8" x 1" bolts and nuts. I can see how they would keep the bolt from turning and loosening up out because of the clips on the bolt head, but what about the nut end of the bolt? What keeps the nuts from vibrating loose? :hmm:
  14. Pin 1 is the hot side contact of the aux fan relay relay coil. It's the same point electrically as the ballast resistor 12V input, so the engine must be running to see 12V on pin 1. Pin 5, tied directly to ECU pin 31, is the ground side contact of the relay coil. In normal operation, the ground signal is applied there from the ECU when the engine temp gets high enough to trigger the ECU ground output. You can tie your ground wire from the dash switch to either pin 5 of the relay socket, or pin 31 on the ECU as they are the same point electrically. I spliced the dash switch ground wire to the BLU/PNK wire in the ECU harness since I was installing a Unichip at the time and had the harness unwrapped. In your case it might be easier to tie it to the relay socket pin 5 in the PDC. Relay pins 2 (12V) and 4 (Ground) are the relay load contacts.
  15. I don't think the sensor is causing the late turn-on since I tried several with no change. I think it's probably the ECU. Maybe built-up internal resistance over time. Also unplug and try cleaning up the 60-pin ECU connector, and look for any recessed pins. That seemed to help a little.........
  16. I went through the same drill with my 91 aux fan. It comes on with the A/C just fine, but doesn't come on until ~250*-260* engine temperature - too high for me. Went through the same troubleshooting as you with a new temp sensor and wiring check and nothing was wrong. Since I had ditched my mechanical fan for an electric, I wanted a fail-safe way to turn on the secondary aux fan in case my primary electric cooling fan went belly-up. When the ECU senses a high temperature from the coolant sensor, it applies a ground to pin 31 which latches the aux fan relay and turns it on. I simulated this by adding a dash switch that did the same by splicing the switch ground output wire to the BLU/PNK wire on ECU pin 31. The new wiring is shown by the dashed lines in the wiring diagram below. Now if I'm stuck in traffic and the engine temp is going up higher than I want, I flick the switch, the aux fan comes on, temp drops, then turn it off when cooled down. Works great.
  17. ^^^ You ever use these Adam? The three bolts on my exhaust header collector flange are constantly loosening up and taking out the gasket. Like Dando I've tried everything, and was going to try the Stage 8 bolts next. I'd need a set of 3/8" three fasteners, and as far as I've seen, they don't make a 3-bolt kit.
  18. The relay mounted on the blower fan screw is not factory. But it looks like it's been there for awhile. Can you trace the relay wires out to see what device this relay is tied to? And is this a pic of your 91?
  19. Nice - I like it! I know it's a work in progress, but it sure could use a rear sway bar to keep the rear end flatter........
  20. Okay - it's all fixed now and working. Many thanks to Brett (87Warrior) for providing the host site.
  21. Try swapping out the Fuel Pump relay with the Power Latch relay.
  22. What do you mean? You can't do burnouts, it won't start, no spark, battery dead? Need some details man..............
  23. No Google account, but that sounds like a good plan Brett. Send me a PM with your email addy when you get a chance and I'll send you the file.
  24. Ok. I'll kill it then. EDIT: It's dead.
  25. Anyone else have this problem?
