  1. def have to keep my eyes out for one. i hate having just Off-Fast-Faster Thanks for the pics
  2. you said youve replaced everything in the cooling system but it sounds like a clogged radiator. my 97 zj was having the same issues shortly after replacing the radiator and hoses. i did a flush and it quit acting up and never overheated. somewhere somehow, something got into the system and was clogging it up. just my 2¢ :dunno:
  3. hmmm.. right over in sedalia.. kro is much closer though
  4. I was thinking about it today. Maybe it's because no one takes care of their vehicles where I come from, but most rangers and f-150s i've seen that old are pretty cancerous too. How's the rust?
  5. Congrats. What specialty you going into? Is the beret for certain specialties or does everyone get them? For us, it seems everyone in the army gets one, but only certain specialties in the air force get it. Congrats again! Basic's over, more time to get wrenchin :wrench:
  6. Lookin nice! Every time I look at your truck I search craigslist for xj bumpers. Can't wait to see it finished.
  7. i had a same year ranger a bit ago, lost interest in it and sold it to work on my camaro. aerostar engine options are practically the same as the rangers. a lot of bronco ii parts will swap over as will many explorer parts.
  8. I know it! All cloudy and rainy. Very disappointing. i was geared up all week to work on the truck, grill some burgers and drink some beer today. :( guess i can try again tomorrow.. i'll just have to pick up another case
  9. You would have to yank me away from this project! Definitely a jewel. Hopefully you've been working so much on it lately that you haven't had time to update the build thread.
  10. yeah that is pretty cheap. curious about the quality though these side marker lights they have are money in the pocket. much better than any brittle junkyard deal. 50 bones for a 97+ header. NTB for brand new.

    CL WTF?

I agree, I would like to put one of those beds on the MJ. There's quite a few of these pickups overseas. The military over in the sandbox uses these for military vehicles, all tanned out. I had to double take a few times cause i thought there were military comanches over there. Then i got closer and seen it was this land cruiser :fs1: Didn't keep me from giving it a walk around every time i seen one. seein if i could adapt any ideas
  12. Glad to see you are in good spirits. It took me awhile to find the file I have been working with, but here it is. It is far from done:

    CL WTF?

That's pretty ugly. The older 78/79 series pickup doesn't look TOO bad. It's definitely no Comanche though.
  14. Ditto
  15. bought regulators to go with the 97 doors. finally got some power outlets put in threw in a set of new to me xj horns gotta find some nice mirrors now
  16. I thought i had finally got rid of every clock that doesnt automatically adjust itself.. then i remembered the clocks in the vehicles  DST, youve won again.
  17. Playing tourist in Cairo Egyptian F-16 Egyptian Mirage 2000
  18. Thanks! I missed my opportunity to get the one i was looking at, but this helps with finding one. So the part was just a threaded vacuum fitting? Probably just as easily rtv'd as the breather hose. Appreciate the pictures.
  19. I've got two hands and a lot of skill.
  20. Here's just a couple favorites out of hundreds of views out my office window. Refueling an F-16 over Lake Tharthar in Iraq: Refueling an F-15 over northern Afghanistan: I love my job. Keep the awesome pics coming! Didn't know we has so many photographers on here.
  21. He cracks me up on his TV series, ill watch it anytime. But on his night show he is just straight racist, not funny, and i just can't stand watching him. One more star the entire community needs to take back.. my 2¢
  22. Will a Wrangler YJ 2.5 VC swap directly over to my 89 2.5 MJ? I'm looking at an aluminum one and would like to know because my plastic one is cracked on nearly every bolt hole. i have a new vc gasket for my MJ. If the YJ cover swaps over would i need to get a different gasket? or would the one i have work? What about bolts? PCV vs CCV?
  23. :shake: pipe dream. if you had that big of a increase your factory filter had to of been extremely dirty i was getting 27-29 prior to the swap. ive been driving with this setup for over 2 years now and ive been getting anywhere from 30-34 mpg on long trips. so sorry, i guess that means 1-7mpg hwy. call it a pipe dream but your not the one crunching the numbers and reaping the benefits. why would i lie? the air box out of the factory on my car was NOT designed for fuel economy, it was designed for comfort.
  24. That's not a cold air intake, just a $75 autozone intake. Unless you get the source outside the engine bay its still gonna suck hot air from inside the engine bay. Those pictures were from a build thread on the avenger forum when i was putting it together so its not my completed cai. They just show the most detail and serve as an example. There's actually already setup the perfect little hole right in front of the airbox, connect that up with the airbox inlet and it will suck cool air from behind the headlight. actually where the stock airbox was taken out, there was a space above the grill and below the hood where the air horn stuck out of the air box. i placed the filter in that place for that reason. I wouldnt pull air from around the headlamp because they are designed to produce heat. Due to aerodynamics, the best place to pull air from is towards the bottom of the bumper where most fog lamps are placed on vehicles. There is low pressure air there while you are driving and you will pull in the coolest air you possibly can there. I know thats not ideal for offroad trucks though. This has increased my fuel economy by 4-6MPG hwy.
