  1. I'd be concerned about longevity. Might look nice for a short time - then the fiberglass gremlins appear. All depends on the level of skill and process this guy uses.
  2. Super nice find!!!! Love those one owner, super well maintained trucks! It's fun to have more than one..... I had hoped to have my off roader, my raceTruck, and my Dually. Didn't find enough time for them, and brought other vehicles home so I had to narrow down to the off roader. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
  3. Nope. The inner structure of the late model door and the early door panel don't work. The placement of the inside door lever assembly and how the rods run is totally different. Same with the arm rest and how they fasten to the door. You'll instantly see what I mean by simply laying an early door panel over the late model door. I think the only way to make it work would be to do some cutting and welding. Cut out the early inner door structure and weld into a late model door. I'm with ya on liking the look of the early door panels and the full window of the late model doors. I too would do it if the panels cooperated.
  4. Worst of the XJ/MJ wheel designs. Blah. Too small/narrow and the offset puts the wheel too far into the wheel well in my opinion. They did it to the ZJ TSI package too........ hideous wheels.
  5. Or are they..........? Stumbled across this tonight, found it really interesting!
  6. Yeah that cleaned up very well! Nice truck, great find! Congrats!
  7. I've got several. Many have one or two cable strands that are loose, but the cable is still solid. Might still have one or two that don't have loose strands. PM me if you're interested, I can ship.
  8. I think you're missing the point. The OP wants to take an RV where RV's can't go. So he's gotta make one that will. He doesn't want to park an RV in a campground and trailer his rig around to various places, he wants to head out into places that will take him days to get to on primitive roads and remote areas. Cutting an MJ cab? Yeah, I hate it from the lost of structure part of it, but for the build and it's utility, I think if it can be built to be rigid....... why not? A grand for an MJ bed? Not likely. Those that need to replace their rusted out beds still tend to live hundreds if not thousands of miles from where the rust free beds are...... and VERY few are willing to pay for the trip to get it, being road trip or shipping. Of the 20 or so MJ's I've parted out with nice beds, all but 3 went to scrap. One sold locally, the other two were on whole trucks that I sold to buyers in Iowa and Ohio. Those two paid $400-$600 to ship the trucks. Shipping an MJ bed will undoubtedly cost more than the purchase price in most cases. He'd be better off making the bed into a trailer to tow behind his "Comanchinook" for those incidents where he needs a truck rather than a camper.
  9. This one runs around the Denver area..... been for sale off and on for around $11K, dunno if it ever found a new owner. It's associated with a custom camper builder. http://phoenixpopup.com/building-the-camper-of-your-dreams/ Then there's this amazing build:
  10. Can we get you contracted to get NAXJA set up as awesome as ComancheClub is now? You guys did amazing work here! BRAVO!
  11. So far, the embedded fix for Chrome and Firefox still work for me and quite a few others. The original Chrome fix expired a while back, with an updated one issued in October. To make the new embed work, you have to delete the first one, then load the new one (found that out the hard way). A Google search will turn up all the embed fixes, just look at the issue dates and select the most recent one.
  12. I'd be weary of the fuse box at the firewall - the clutch master cylinder may be/have been leaking on it causing damage to the plastic and allowing for the electrical gremlins you described about the blinkers, wipers and headlights........ Or it could be the turn signal switch/high beam switch assembly in the steering column going bad. With that many miles, I'd definitely road test it on the highway and look for some uphill areas...... that engine could be pretty tired and a 30mph around the block drive isn't gonna reveal much. Also at highway speeds, you may find other things like bump steer/death wobble, whining from the trans or rear end, lifter clatter, lack of power to maintain speed uphill or to pass..... These things are holding value when they're not rusty and are straight..... even with mechanical wear, a good straight bodied MJ will fetch that $3k asking price.
  13. Come awn........ NOBODY has anything home made or cool in their yards????
  14. I think that given the money they bring..... a Superbird is kind of an exotic..... This is in a different presentation though....... this is a throwback pic of someone TRULY committed to daily driving theirs....... snow chains and all.
  15. Thanks Pete! MJ's in any yard are to be considered art....... Lights? Nah, that'd be Christine-creepy in my opinion. If they were in my front yard, I'd consider making them light up red and prop some Halloween skeletons around them for the holiday....
  16. Came across a pair of crusty Model A's someone started to assemble as yard art.....couldn't pass em up, so I finished them and put them in my back yard. Found a local shop " Bert's Model A Parts" the owner hooked me up with all the crusty bits they needed to look complete. I added bumpers, old tires, center caps, a busted temp gauge cap, license plate, horn and a windshield frame. And yes..... my wife LOVES them! She wants to add an old flatbed truck .....
  17. PO said it's the rear end it came with. I have the original window sticker, I'll have to look and see if it says what it had. If different, I'll be looking under there to see what it's got.
  18. I don't think the current set up will allow for any "tuning" but I'm a novice at tuner stuff. I was told by the prev. owner that the Optimizer and ECU stand alone from each other, the Optimizer manages performance at higher RPMs when the boost is kicking in and what not.
  19. So far it definitely is a blast to drive! Very mild mannered until you floor it and the secondary injectors and boost kicks in then it jumps right up! It's got 3:92 rear gears so I'm curious how it'll be on the highway over 65. Yeah the stock rims...... love / hate situation with 'em. They're super clean and 15". They'll do for now and really - not a whole lot of options given this truck has the 6 on 4.5" lug pattern. I'm tempted to do black steelies with the vented cop car dog dish caps....... or maybe NASCAR style wheels and yellow letter tires....... or? Had a good morning! Truck passes emissions on "Fast Pass" without me using the valet pin and there was no line at the station! Then went straight to the DMV. Title and plates in just under 30 min?!?!? Unreal! Better pics:
  20. Some may remember the white 2wd 5.9 R/T Dakota I had a while back. I regretted selling it instantly, and haven't been able to find another that was worth buying. Well this one popped up and it's MORE than what I was looking for..... '97 Dakota extra cab Sport, 5.2 V8, 5 speed. Only 82K miles on it. Body and paint are nice, interior looks like it's never been driven - amazing condition inside! BellTech 2/4 drop Hurst short throw shifter AEM gauges and pillar pod Nice stereo set up Steel cowl hood Shorty headers Performance cat and Flowmaster 40 (and retarded HUGE exhaust tip, that'll be gone shortly) Just a cool looking truck! But the icing on the cake........ Kenne Bell Whipple supercharger with Optimizer controller.... While it's no Hellcat...... this thing SCOOTS and rowing the 5 speed through the gears is VERY satisfying. I'd been missing a stick shift. The Kenne Bell documentation indicates that adding this blower and optimizer equates HP boost from stock 230 hp to 360 hp. The truck runs and drives like new. Everything is tight, no squeaks, rattles. The previous owner got it when he was 18 and it's been his baby ever since. The supercharger was briefly used by the original buyer in 2002, shelved, and the previous owner bought and installed it 5 years ago. The truck has been garaged the entire time until last year when he found a 'Cuda. He sold the truck to fund the 'Cuda build. He's a master tech for Caterpillar and convinced me he's plenty well versed on building and maintaining vehicles. He gave me a fat file that contained the original purchase documents and every oil change and warranty repair it's ever had. Other than a tailgate dent, it's straight as an arrow. Yes, I know there are better SC kits out there and yes I know the Optimizer is not a tune-able ECU and there will be lots of opinions out there about this set up..... save 'em. I didn't buy this to go racing or get into bigger-dick contests about what's bolted onto this rig. It's a bad-@$$ little driver with better-than-stock performance that won't require me spending $$$ and time with a laptop on a dyno. What I'm REALLY digging is that my toy and my beater are both black & white and SUPERCHARGED! My only real concern is emissions. It's got the cat and O2 sensors in place. The supercharger kit comes with a "valet key" which is a pin of sorts that you install to prop the waste gate open. This disables the Optimizer and renders the blower to no boost. The intake for the blower has 2 additional injectors that fire off at a certain RPM and boost. So I'm wondering if I should have it tested with the valet key installed, or not worry about it since it's not likely they'll get close to W.O.T. during the test.........
  21. Yes indeed the silver headlights are MUCH better! I guess I'm going to have to order another one so I can say, years down the road, that I have a rare and valuable limited production / early version with yellow headlights.........
  22. I'd like an MJ with XJ 2dr doors. The extra cab room would be awesome. I agree, the Cherokee roof looks odd on an MJ and the pillar vents should not have been deleted.
  23. Yeah the tube diameter is thicker than the OEM bar. And the rear foot placement is wrong - the OEM goes on the forward side if the fender well, that one sits on top. But I'm betting it'll look nice installed!
  24. Elk horn chair........ $100,000. I think 2 zeros need to be dropped from that price. Gawd. https://denver.craigslist.org/atq/d/elk-horn-chair/6267068794.html If it's REALLY worth that much, seems to be a high-end auction item, not a CL item.
  25. Ditto. Gonna take some getting used to. Using the condensed view feature helps though.
