  1. That salvage title is no big deal since buyers aren't likely to finance it. It'd still bring big money. A 2dr auto 4x4 that clean will cause excessive drooling over on NAXJA......
  2. Wow, 49K miles. MINTY! Nice find! Should bring a nice profit if flipped. That XJ, with the paint and body fixed would bring $6-7K here in Colorado.
  3. The sending unit assemblies for XJ's aren't "deep" enough for an MJ tank, the XJ tank is low profile. However, I think the sending unit can be made to work. I wanna say the plastic rheostat part of it is the same for all fuel injected models, it's the angle and length of the float arm that determines the range from full to empty. So, in theory, an XJ sending unit mounted to an MJ assembly and re-fitted with the MJ float arm "should" work. However a buddy of mine swapped all the drivetrain and wiring from a '95 XJ into his '89 MJ and said that the XJ sending unit sent a different voltage range that wasn't compatible with the MJ fuel gauge...... Dunno.
  4. Taking the tailgate apart would end up being WAY more work than it's worth. Perhaps build a flat square or rectangle plate slightly larger than the camera. Mount the camera to that plate. Cut a hole in the tailgate for the camera body to fit into. Screw or rivet the plate to the tailgate. Should be room above and below the release handle for a small camera. Below the handle would give you a downward angled surface which should help with the range of the camera view for backing up. If you weren't aware, they make universal fit "tailgate cameras" as well...... or license plate mounted ones.........
  5. Even after the mass liquidation/scrap fest...... XJ/MJ parts. I still have a u-haul van full of the stuff.
  6. Indeed. The NHRA banned the Demon from running in sanctioned events without a roll cage. How many Demon owners are gonna be responsible and pony up $3,500 more for a certified cage and hit the drag strip? Gonna be lots of street runs. I see a handful of these getting totaled and unfortunately, probably a couple dead owners. My Hellcat is scary as f*** when it breaks traction under full throttle. Imagine a Demon on the highway running drag radials on all 4 corners (as equipped from the factory....) and trying the curve of an off ramp at stupid speed..... with smaller brakes and sway bars.......
  7. I dunno......... I question if the TrackHawk will be able to survive mechanically......... is that AWD drivetrain going to be able to handle the 700 hp? I couldn't imagine the Demon's 840 hp in one of those. Gawd, with drag radials? I see broken diffs and CV shafts at a minimum. But it'd be a hoot breaking 'em......
  8. I've got mine on order........ :D Actually, with as cool as this car is..... it's definitely been modified to dominate on the 1/4 mile. If that's what you're after, the Demon is the beast you seek. I'll be keeping my Hellcat. It checks the boxes of a few racing needs and isn't pidgeon-holed as a single use car. The Demon got smaller brakes so that the 18" drag radials and wheels would fit. They changed the sway bars, having gone with hollow bars and lighter resistance. Rear suspension has been modified to react to a drag launches and firms up, and there are only 2 suspension mode selections. I can drag race, auto cross, road course my Hellcat. I am a little envious of the intake manifold intercoolers getting cooling help from the car's A/C system..... that's ingenious. I'm also envious that Dodge will be limiting production to the 2018 model year and only 3,300 cars (3,000 US, 300 Canada). This will keep these cars in collector car status better than the Hellcats. (ex: 11,995 total production Hellcat Challengers made in 2016) Not a fan of the hood and flares, but I do like that the hood does actually supply a true cold air intake "air grabber" style where the Hellcat does not. The flares look more suited for a road course racer and when the front skinnies are bolted up, looks kinda odd with the huge front splitter and flares. I'm hearing that the MSRP will be in the neighborhood of $85K with a couple guys on Hellcat.org saying they have agreements in place with their dealers to purchase one for $86,400 + taxes. So I'm guessing these cars will be quickly approaching $95K+ out the door. Dodge initial release info suggested that they want to help combat price gouging by dealers so they're hand selecting dealerships that will receive car allotments and orders can't be placed without a buyer and down payment - dealers can't buy the cars...... supposedly. Will be interesting to see if any get advertised by dealers for $130K and whatnot.
  9. I have this one........ needs the tube from the winch to the panel under the tailgate and the crank handle. The tube can be made from galvanized conduit or steel tube - drill a hole and put a cotter pin through the stub of the winch input. Cut the tube long enough to go through the panel hole. Pinch the end of the tube and use the flat end of the lug wrench to turn it. $45 shipped This is what the tube generally looks like, this pic shows it missing the cotter pin holding it to the stub.
  10. I'm just here for the pics. Got no time to be reading........ :D
  11. I get it for easy cleaning, but man do those hold in moisture. Keep an eye on your floor boards.
  12. LOL........ you post a link to an ad that the seller deleted because, well......... HE SOLD 'EM! :D Contrats on finally finding those!
  13. Your "wife" huh? Hey, I'm not gonna judge...... :D
  14. Unfortunately, white on engines never stays around long....... it'll be dull and yellow and back to rusty around the exhaust after a few months of running. But I dig the creative idea!
  15. Look at a regular cab Dakota bench seat with the fold down center. Those aren't bad at all and they'll fit with fabbed up floor brackets. Here's a good thread about bench seat options..... http://comancheclub.com/topic/35724-bench-seat-options/
  16. Hmmmmm..... was just wondering what to do with the extra $20K I have burning a hole in my pocket........ lol. Pretty cool though and very well built being done by a company down in Florida. I gotta wonder though....... some nasty wheel hop from a good hard launch could send those doors popping open.......
  17. So..... I'm still looking for a good part number for an A/C delete pulley.
  18. Already a Prime Amazon member........ Thanks for the part numbers!
  19. Correct link: https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/6050998668.html LOL. JC Whitney "kit". Those are the generic fenders. Looks like different tire sizes front and rear as well. Meh. Wonder if it's even got a D44......... and why it's on ramps. 20. Yeah the V6 is ok in the KL, but in the WK2, not so much. We had to search to find our Hemi Grand as well. LOVE it in Sport mode....... :D Didn't know about the diesels being such a problem. When we were looking for our Hemi Grand, there were quite a lot of them on dealer lots. I wonder if they just stopped making them and sold off what they had or if they returned them to FCA? What do you mean "lifetime warranty"? As in for the life of the loan?
  21. As in the 3 metal pieces with the threaded studs?
  22. Nice progress Ben! Gotta be exciting! I think you should name it "Joe". Jim Oshel Edition.
  23. LOL...... nope, didn't come up in my interwebz search oddly enough. I sent a request for the correct bearing to that same place - locateballbearings.com. They said no longer available. The poster in that write up posted just late last year.... so it seems this bearing being N/A is a recent development.
  24. I should probably clarify....... Autozone showed the part number and the guy said he could order it, but none were available at stores locally. He looked to see where he could get it from and none of the stores in the neighboring States had them in stock either, said it would have to come from a warehouse and would take several days. If I can get part numbers, I'm going to do some searching and get a couple replacements ordered up and sent to me to keep around. The prices at the parts stores was pretty ugly too. Autozone said the A/C delete pulley was $33.
  25. So..... I had the raceTruck out to run some errands and after giving it a bit of "spirited" throttle up a short hill near the house...... there came a hideous squealing followed by the sound of the serpentine belt coming apart and slapping off of everything under the hood. Great. Never in nearly 20 years of farting around with these XJ/MJ's have I had a triple bearing simultaneous failure. Yep, the idler, A/C delete and mechanical fan bearings all failed. The A/C delete seized up completely, the idler and fan bearings were very loose and rough - grinding to turn. Come to find out that apparently the major auto parts chains (Autozone, Advance Auto Parts and O-Rilley's) near my house can't get ANY of these 3 bearings/pulleys. Not one of them listed a part number - all showed "N/A". Seriously? My '88 MJ is now THAT old that these fairly common to fail parts aren't available any longer? The press in bearing was another anomaly that couldn't be found. Fortunately, I kept a lightly used A/C delete and Idler pulley in my parts stash and retrieved those for the repair. The pressed in bearing for the mechanical fan though...... I'd never actually replaced one of these, I'd only found "good" ones in the brackets and replaced the bracket. On line sources revealed 2 part numbers for this bearing - it being officially listed as a "water pump shaft bearing". The part number for the one matching what Jeep used - an NSK bearing - #665325 which of course isn't available any longer. The closest match is the NSK #885586. This bearing unfortunately has a longer shaft through it and requires modification of the front of the shaft at a minimum. (the rear of the shaft can be left long as it doesn't affect it's use or operation). The no longer available 665325: And the only other option, the 885586 which is shown between the OEM bearing and a modified one that I used for replacement: During the replacement, I found that the Harbor Freight ball joint press tool was the ideal tool for pressing out the bearing. Prior to pressing it out, I used feeler gauges to measure the gap at the flange so when pressed back on, I'd have the proper alignment. A 3-jaw gear puller made short work of removing the flange. Pretty straight forward when it was all said and done, just a big pain having to drive clear across town to find the one place that carried the 885586 - which weren't cheap at $34 each (bought 2 as I need to do this to my '91 Eliminator as well). Does anyone know of a source where I can get the Idler and A/C delete pulleys new? And their part numbers?
