Ditto. Insurance will total it. But with the bumper having NOT taken the impact, the important part of the unibody was spared. No air bag deployment is also a bonus. It'll take some tedious plasma cutting and some spot weld cutting, and then fitting donor inner unibody panels to get things back together but yeah, it's fixable. That's a shame, definitely a nice XJ.

It can be done, but yeah, the rear is the issue. I bought an MJ with this done, the previous owner had glued a wood block to the back, center part of the roof for a dome light and the light fixture was holding the headliner up. The corners were wrinkled a bit.

Yep. Zero. Never a factory option. Have been told there was a Dealer parts option and some were assembled at dealerships, but for the most part, the MJ dually was a JC Whitney catalog creation.

The offset and rim look identical to Ranger wheels to me......... Definitely has the holes for the center cap mounting screws. The ones in the ad just have the fake rivets knocked out for some reason. Maybe they intended to paint them black and re-install the rivets for appearance.

I took 600 grit sand paper to it already. Didn't take any close pics after sanding. Problem is all around that edge, the plastic had bracing fins that had to be cut (the white vertical lines you see) and the plastic was "wavy" along that edge from the narrow channel in the mold, like when the plastic was poured, it set quickly and was lumpy - essentially, the thickness of the plastic is very inconsistent. The edge is as good as it's gonna get without painting it. I thought about running a propane torch around the edge to see if it would get rid of the chalky appearance from the sanding...... might still do that.

Some time back, I traded in my '02 Dodge Cummins Dually for an '04 Cummins Dually, and more recently, an '11 Cummins Dually. Love the '11 but over time found some things that irritated me like the duck-tail tailgate, huge dually fenders that make reaching into the bed impossible, and..... the damn cupholders. Drinks get caught under the edge of the dash over the cup holder, and the shift lever sticks out so much that you can knock the drink out of your hand as you bring the cup up from the holder. Large drinks don't sit in them without the top of the drink resting against the dash leaving it at an angle. UGH. WHY did they do away with the awesome adjustable drink holders!!!!! :mad: I used to be able to hit the 7-11 and get a couple of 32 oz Gatoraids and set 'em side by side in the dash drink holder...... now I have just a couple of holes that are only big enough for a medium sized fast food cup..... all SEVEN of the holders, not a one that will hold a large drink........WTF? This is a "medium" drink......... What I had in the '02 and '04: What I got: I'm returing the damn thing. :D Took me a while, but I finally fixed the cup holder issue...... Ordered a nifty add-on to the center console with better cup holders from Geno's Garage. Much better location, but it required modification with a Dremel to fit right...... Since I already had the Dremel out and still hadn't installed my CB yet.... I gave up on Jeep projects and spent some quality time on my DD. Eff that stupid cup holder....... It was a pretty tight fit. Had to get a 90 degree antenna connector adaptor for the back of the CB and with the mic jack being on the front of it, I'll have to leave the mic stored when not in use. But overall, I like it! :thumbsup: .

Indeed. I swear, some used parts company around here has junk yard employees on the take. They snatch late model header panels before they hit the yards and sell them to the parts company. I've only been able to buy ONE from a junk yard. The rest came from jeeps I bought to part out from private parties, or from part outs on Craigslist.

Sounds cool...... I imagine it'll take lots of fab work for front suspension, particularly if you stick with the 4-link and coils. I believe I've seen a solid axle swap into a Dakota of that era using a YJ front axle and leaf springs......

There was no defined Comanche Chief package, just a truck with decals ......... all potentially optioned with "whatever-the-hell-you-damn-well-please" You know someone's gonna post up their factory badged Metric Ton MJ came with a D35 and standard leaf packs........ :yes: The point I was trying to make is that every one of our trucks had a window sticker and on that sticker, there was an options list which included a "package" and a list of items that were part of that package. I have yet to see a "package" that included a D44 after '90 other than the Metric Ton. I have yet to see a "package" that included PDL's or PW's in any truck, but more specifically, after '90. I guess I'll peruse Google Images and see what sort of photo'd or scanned MJ window stickers I can find and look over "packages" listed under the options column. See if anything sheds any light. (Please, no hurt butts........ my questions and curiosity truly were and remain well intentioned. At this point, I believe my give-a-crap just broke. :P )

LOL....... Whoa, settle down there JeepcoMJ...... it's all good! I'm not arguing that things couldn't be ordered. Never even suggested that. And I've clearly agreed that the MT package did include a D44 for '91-'92. I'm saying that there doesn't appear to have been an option/trim package that included any of those options we've been discussing. Again: '91-'92 Eliminators = no D44 as part of the package group. '91-92 option groups = none included PDL / PW's ........ as far as I've been able to discover. ;)

I'm not spreading misinformation........ your post confirms what I was saying. There doesn't seem to be any defined option package groups that included the D44 (other than Metric Ton) or the PDL or PW's. Maybe it was possible those options existed as special order and found their way to a few or many trucks...... but where are these trucks? Not to argue with ya Rob, but I haven't seen any posts here on CC where someone has a verified factory installed D44 on a production '91 or '92 with the exception of the Metric Ton option. I guess I was more referring to those items (D44 and PDL, PW) as being part of any option group after '90. Neither of the two '91 Eliminators I've owned has had a D44, nor has any I've found for sale or owned locally. I have owned a '92 Metric Ton that had the D44 under it (super rough beat up truck with no title..... hated to part that one out and scrap it.....) None of the numerous '91-92 MJ's I've owned, bought/sold or scrapped have had PDL or PW, nor has any I've gone to look at that have been on Craigslist or owned by NAXJA friends. All of the '88-'90 Eliminators I've owned have had D44's. I have yet to see any '87-'90 Eliminators with PDL or PW's. Additionally, when I've tried to order replacement brake cables or D44 brake parts, I've never been able to get them when referencing a '91 or '92 (or later XJ for that matter), always had to be sure to say it was for an '87-'90. In my case, I have been building a D44 for my '91 Eliminator. I went in to get numerous parts and initially told them I was needing parts for a '91. When we got to the brake parts..... no listing for D44 brake parts on '91 and newer. Again, I'm just going off of what I've looked into personally, and have seen / not seen. I thought I'd finally found one recently...... a '91 with a D44. Turned out that the previous owner had both the '91 and an '88 Metric Ton. The D44's bearings gave out in the '88 and he put the D44 under the '91, swapping the D35 to the '88 so he could keep it going. (the '91 was wrecked and engine sold off). So, again...... I've not come across this combo factory installed. I'd LOVE to be proven wrong...... PLEASE, someone show me a '91-'92 Eliminator with a Factory D44 .......and/or...... Factory PDL / PW's in ANY '91-'92 MJ. :cheers:

That's the nicest one I've seen done so far! There have been a couple in Australia that were pretty good, a couple on the Cherokee based forums that weren't bad, several unfinished. Nice work! Would love to see pics of the inside! :thumbsup:
