A little window into my crazy MJ obsessed brain....... :looney: Recently did a 1-day roadtrip to Albuquerque to pick up yet another MJ. An '88 Olympic Edition 4x4 4.0 5/spd. Previous owner had a shop rebuild the engine and it went up in flames. I suspect injector O ring failure and the cracked exhaust header as he said those had not been replaced. 880 miles round trip. This is what I brought back: Yep. Engine fire. Wiring is toast. Dash and interior are junk from fire/smoke damage. Fire Dept responded quickly and doused it. Straight rust free body. Now, many would write this off as a total loss. Not me. All too often the MJ's to be found out there have floor rot issues: Image Not Found Absolutely no fun to fix. THIS....... is why I made the run: Image Not Found Image Not Found A hood, header panel, full harness, fuel line and dash/interior all MUCH easier to fix than those rusty floors. This COMPLETELY rust free truck will make an excellent candidate for a full '98+ update. :thumbsup:

Those buckets will find their way into another MJ at some point..... Probably be stored in my basement until someone buys them or I find an MJ to put them in.

Picked up seats for the race MJ. New in the box 2009 Drag Pak Challenger seats. The guy immediately went with aluminum racing seats for his Challenger. These are flip-forward too. :thumbup: This is the guy's car....... Awesome. Runs 10.7's. Image Not Found

That hitch DID come off of a Comanche. I tried to buy the Eliminator it had been bolted to but it sold before I could get my pops out there to look at it / buy it. The guy said the truck would not come with the hitch...... then he listed the hitch shortly after selling the truck. This is the second time it's been on Craigs. You can tell the hitch had custom brackets welded to the sides and it will probably require drilling into the frame to mount it. The bolt pattern of 3 bolts close together isn't correct for a Cherokee hitch.

LOL....... There's no such thing as a "factory sun visor"........ they were all aftermarket by Lund and similar companies. But yeah, looks like a decent truck and price. :thumbsup:

It's not a huge issue but there is a clip that connects the rod that runs down the shifter handle to a locking mechanism built into the shifter assembly below the cover/console. If the clip isn't broken, it's likely just sitting in the bottom of the assembly and can be snapped back on. It's also possible that the plastic bits in the "T" handle broke but if the button still springs in/out when pressed then the handle is ok. Yeah the cage design is something I'm not yet set on. SCCA rules seem fairly simple. Not a fan of a plexi rear window ....... But going through the cab seems a bit daunting as well. I have an idea to make the top of the cage in a "U" shape where the two ends go through the upper cab corners and become the down bars into the bed. The rest would be easy enough. Not sure if I'll go through the dash or drop the "A" pillar tubes down in front of the dash. All this is a little ways down the road still.

I had the seats in my '11 Dodge 3500 done by Katzkin and I had lots of fabric choices.... For the center sections..... But I ended up choosing perforated leather because I added seat heaters. Thanks for the pic! I'll have a 2wd axle pulled here shortly and my intention is to get it cut and sectioned in similar fashion. Then get the WJ brakes/knuckles set up. Put it in all at once. Any thoughts on eliminating the OEM track bar and steering in favor of a simple straight tube set up with heims? Seems the lower that axle gets, there's quite a few steering component clearance concerns..... everything is all bunched up close together and the track bar really doesn't need that bend and outward bow.

Would be MUCH cheaper to have that section replaced by an upholstery shop than try to source a full cover set. But, the only place I know to be able to get anything like a "kit" is from Katzkin. It's expensive, but they've taken the time to do digital measurements of damn near every car out there and can make up replacement covers in pretty much any fabric or leather you can think of...... :dunno:

Well the front wheel adaptors arrived. Beefy..... Like TOO beefy. They weigh 13.5 lbs each. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of machine work done..... Meaning they seem like they should be whittled down to save on rotating mass. Dunno.... I may hit up a local shop and look into having that done. Although I guess its safe to say these should never break huh? Lol!

I had one of those. Fun to drive and a great exhaust sound! Was never a fan of the original Silver Star wheels so I put on a set of Icons from a '00 XJ Some advice...... Check out www.thespeedfreaks.net It's a 5.9 Grand site with great tech threads. If yours doesn't already have a rear main seal leak, put a new one in ASAP. The OEM one has a metal coil in it that will cut deep into the crank when the seal wears out..... A new seal.... Won't seal whith the nasty groove in it. The intake manifold gaskets, electric radiator fan, sunroof and Tcase viscous coupler are all weak points so do some reading on those issues.

The dash, seat and door panels were gone so I don't know if they matched or were a different color. I've seen 2 other colors of blue but nothing like this color. Just thought it a little unusual.
