Depends on what you make the front of the trailer out of. My long bed trailer uses the MJ back half "frame", and the front "A" frame from a boat trailer. I can wheel this trailer around by the tongue with one hand and it's tongue heavy.

Won't work. As stated above, the door strikers/latches are in different places. The door opening at the back of the 2 door body is a different shape/angle than the door opening at the back of the 4 door.

You guys should read the history of the two Lambrecht fellas that owned this dealership....... they were clearly off their rockers. When the remaining few cars of the previous model year went unsold....... he had his mechanic drive them to the field at his farm and park them...... outside, unprotected. I don't get his sales philosophy.... no car over a year old on the dealership lot at any given time? He'd prefer to park "old" cars out of sight and not sell them? He even collected the trade in cars and because of "safety issues" refused to sell the trade-ins. Huh? :dunno: Only 50 or so cars got stored indoors for any length of time, the rest, left to rot in the Nebraska elements until now. While these cars may be very complete and the bodies straight..... the rust, mice and weather have taken their toll. Most of the trucks have rotten, rusty beds. Many cars have rusty floors and trunks. It's kind of bittersweet really....... if he could only have found a facility to have kept them indoors..... imagine the values! Just so weird to see a car with rusty faded paint, in the weeds..... displaying the original window sticker....... A nice row of "new" trucks....... This is what the majority of the collection looks like.........

Definitely cool...... but having to make the innerds of those rear doors work sounds pretty involved. The OEM glass and tracks have a slight curve to them, so ya can't just go out and cut new flat glass to put in there...... What's it cost to get custom tempered glass made with a bit of a curve? I'm guessing one would have to take the inner structures of the rear doors (front half) and the 2 door doors (rear half) and graft them together since the 4dr striker/latch is much higher than where the 2dr one is. Then skin the outter with the 2dr skin.

Ya know those stupid rubber PCV tube connectors that go on the breather elbows on the valve cover? The ones that get hard, dry out and crack and break? Found a great fix........... Spark plug boot

Those pics just confirm this truck is done. The frame rails may appear solid on the outside, but inside they're very likely to be rotting. And what those rails were spot welded to is no longer solid. b.lee......... please, scrap that poor MJ and put it out of it's misery. Don't endanger the public by allowing it back onto the streets or trails. Taking money for that truck from anyone but a metal recycler should be a criminal act. Missing bolt?????

If it's a metric ton, it'll be the long bed. Unless someone swapped one in, the 4cyl trucks never came with a D44.

The "frame" may have appeared ok, but I gotta wonder about the inside of the "frame" rails and the minute gaps between spot welded seams. Either way, there's a TON of MJ's on the market now WAY better than that POS for the same money. I haven't paid more than $1400 for any of my 4 MJ's and that was for the '91 Eliminator in my avatar pic. 2 '91's have ZERO rust, my DD '91 has minor floor board rust on the driver's side, and my '90 has a silver dollar sized spot on the bed side next to the fuel filler door.

Small world as it is....... while chatting with this lady, she's good friends with one of the guys I work with and she seemed more interested in the thought of my getting the truck over just scrapping it. She is on disability with two teen age boys so she's concerned about getting much needed funds for the truck. We'll see. She's a friggin' pack rat too. She had 15 or so antique farm implements hauled from her father's farm in Ohio to her back yard, She has 3 sheds full of stuff to include a fairly large collection of 80's dirt bikes and parts that her 1st husband was into. She also has a really clean, low mileage (90K) 1990 Cherokee Laredo that's sitting just ahead of the Comanche. She said she loves that Jeep but can't afford to fix it's issues (never got to what those were, but she said it runs, just doesn't drive well.... :dunno: ) .......... maybe I'll chat her up about that a bit more, perhaps I can barter repair of the Cherokee for the MJ.........

This stupid no title issue reared it's ugly head again today......... I was selling a gun cabinet to a lady who responded to my Craig's ad earlier today. She saw my Eliminator in the driveway and complemented it, and added "Ive got a Comanche myself. I'm not using it, would you have any interest?" Of course I would! LOL! We chatted about her MJ and she said she wasn't sure of the year, somewhere between '85-'87 and that it had a rebuilt engine in it, but it's been parked for 5+ years in her back yard and she would like to pass it on to someone who'd appreciate it. I followed her home as she lives just a few miles from me. Sure enough, behind a cedar fence/gate that hasn't been opened since it was parked behind it sat a short bed MJ. Poorly sprayed with a full covering of primer (bumpers, flares and all). Super straight body but for some reason it has 4 good sized rusted through spots along the bottom corners of the driver's side of the bed. Also had a heavy object pound up against the front of the bed pushing/bending the bed panel into the cab. The passenger side is pristine. The rockers are solid and the rest of the unibody looks great. The driver's floor board has a fist sized hole rusted through. Fenders, doors, roof, tail gate and tail lights all in fair to good shape. New windshield too. Maroon bench seat interior with good plastics and decent seat, and the usual fallen headliner fabric. Tires were new when parked, but now all 4 sitting flat and in the dirt. All said and done, it's a 1987 4.0 / 5spd P/S, P/B, A/C 4x4 truck. She said a former boyfriend and she bought it together and it sat in this spot since then. Colorado plates on it show last registration was in '05. While I really don't need another MJ...... I asked her what she'd want for it. She suggested $1,000. I told her respectfully, without it running and driving, that just wasn't realistic. She said she had no skills nor interest in tinkering on it to get it running so she countered again at $800. I told her again, not realistic given the fuel tank is going to need to be drained, the battery replaced and all fluids changed before even thinking of trying to start it. She then said, "I can understand that....... How 'bout $500". I told her that was a fair price. I asked her about the title.......... "I don't have it but I can get it." I ask her to clarify and she says "My ex stole all my vehicle keys and titles when he left so I can just go get a replacement title". This explained the punched ignition cylinder....... But having been down this road before, I asked "So, the title he took...... it was in your name?" "No. I bought it, but we put the title in his name." :wall: I then proceeded to explain that the DMV won't care who paid for it, the only person that can get a replacement title would be the last registered owner. Needless to say, she was pretty disappointed. Since Colorado law allows the property owner to dispose of vehicle abandoned after 30 days, (and in this case 8 years) I offered to buy it as a parts truck for $300 which she declined "at this time" but said she may call me in the future if she can't get more for it. Which means this truck will end up at the local U-Pull & Pay. So unfortunate.

Actually, I was going to say those pieces look pretty remarkably preserved considering they've been buried by a creek for so long. The spokes and rims would/should have rusted away long ago..... I'm curious what you come up with. I'm gonna agree with Jim on this and put that axle as being 1928-1934. Looks to me like a Ford "Banjo" axle - narrow center section and early production - before the "beefier" version that most rodders look for that had the wider center section and dual bearing supports for the pinion and whatnot. If the leaf pack is curvy, it'll be after '32-'34 from what I've read. But yeah, I agree, turn that axle on one end and put a mail box on the other...... Conversation piece or zoning violation........ hilarious!

Nice! Found the Eliminator a new home with a CC member. Doesn't get better than that! :thumbsup: And I agree, the brush guard and light bar were modified from FSJ pieces. The winch mounting could be home brew, but what's it take to mount a roller fairlead in place of the hawse fairlead the OEM hidden winch mount kit would have had? Are those rear tow hooks anything unusual and OEM? Was there a rear tow hook bracket offered for the MJ?

Yep, looks like a Mopar behind the bumper winch mount, and modified FSJ Honcho brushguard and "sport bar" on the bed. I just blew my funds on dually fenders and expensive shipping, a gun safe and a '95 XJ to fix and flip........ friggin' timing. :fs1:

Caught a Craigslist ad for a farm estate auction and buried in the text of what they were selling was a '90 4x4 LWB MJ. One grainy photo on the auction house website. Got to thinking that with the hundreds of antiques and other siliness being sold, not many would be flocking to this auction for an old MJ so I went. Got there just before the auction started at 10 am. Auctioneer said the "good stuff" including the MJ would be auctioned at 1pm. Because this was out in the boonies, I just parked my truck close to the action so I could hear the auctioneer's PA system, fired up the A/C and hung out. Went back to the activity before 1pm and the auctioneer was hip-deep into the "smalls" still....... I groaned to myself thinking they wouldn't get to the MJ for a while but luckily an auction staffer reminded the Auctioneer of the time. He promptly switched gears and headed over to the "good stuff". He auctioned off a golf cart then got to the MJ. I had seen a few others looking at the truck, but when bidding got started at $500, only 3 of us were in. Now, the truck was a super clean bodied rust-free Pioneer with badly faded/burned paint and super dried out rubber and seals. The engine ran, but had a poor idle and lots of the vacuum parts were missing as was the fan shroud and air box. This had been the farm owner's ranch truck since new, but definitely treated like a ranch truck. The interior was gross with dirt, dog hair matted into the pass side of the seat, etc. It had new Buckshot Mudder tires...... but that was more of a turn off to me as those tires suck to drive on the streets. In my mind, I valued that truck at no more than $800 - $1000. The auctioneer got the bids up quickly to $1000, then to $1200 where it stalled, I decided to throw better judgement to the wind and bid $1250. Two others then got into a bidding war up to $1550....... I said no thanks and began walking when I heard the auctioneer say "Fellas, the owner has set a reserve of $1800 for the truck so I'll need that in order to sell it." WHAT?!?!?! I wasted hours out in bumble-fawk farm land to hopefully grab an MJ for cheap to reasonable money and the damn thing has a reserve? GRRRRR. They should be required to tell you that on the auction item list and at the opening of the auction..... then START THE DADGUM BIDDING AT THE RESERVE. Rant off........ :fs2:

The "dash pad" is not removable. It's molded to the entire dash assembly. They still make the dash covers/protectors which can be a decent alternative to covering that cracked dash. Otherwise, you'll have to scour the junk yards to find an un-cracked dash...... and cuss and sweat to get the damn thing out without breaking the plastic around the fastening points. ........... ask me how I know....... LOL

WAY better than any Delorean in stock form.......... those cars were such huge turds. Kudos to the guy that scrapped the Volvo drivetrain in favor of a frame, V8 and mudders. :clapping:

Ouch Darren............ For what Bob is going to use the truck for, that bumper is plenty stout. I've see this one and others that Fessybilt put together and while I agree that the bend perforations would look cleaner welded up and smoothed out, I don't see any real concerns about the bumper's overall strength. More than adequate for moderate and light trails. Would I use one for hardcore 'wheeling? Nope. But for the build Bob has going, I think it's spot on. And the width thing is a bit of a camera angle issue. It's not that wide. This photo puts a bit better perspective on the bumper's size and proportion:
