  1. Added 2" lift blocks I had laying around. Before: After: I also replaced a bad front axle U joint yesterday and noticed the (1994) shaft itself is quite a bit thicker than my original (1987) MJ axles. Why would they redesign axles make them bigger and I assume stronger, if the weak point is the 5-260x U joints? Inspected the rear brakes as well. Driver side needs a new adjuster, everything else is A-OK. I just remembered why I never bought that adjuster: I STILL need to measure the diameter of the drum. :wall:
  2. If you haven't already, get your tape measure out and at least adjust your toe-in to 0 yourself. Then you can always take to an alignment shop later.

  4. I know 88 and older hubs are different from the 89 and newer hubs. And ABS axles do not work with the older ones as the ABS ring interferes with the hub. Dunno about rotors, though.
  5. I get a smile on my face every time I read or hear about people having problems with viruses, trojans, malware etc. I run Linux
  6. Could be bad sensors. Could also be idiot light sensors even though it had gauges. Maybe he swapped in the cluster and didn't know how to fix?
  7. Thanks for designing my oil catch jar! I think I'll base mine on a plastic peanut butter jar.

    swine flu

I don't worry about things until they land me in the hospital. But only because I hate hospitals. I guess you also panicked a few years ago with the avian flu and all? And SARS?
  9. I completely forgot, thanks for the reminder! I just did, where the clock would be is just a blank panel. There's no wiring to be seen anywhere for it. I looked around, underneath, and even removed the gauge cluster to check behind it.
  10. Replaced oil in front axle and tested the temp sensor in the new thermostat housing. Also replaced front axle U joint on the Cherokee and removed the brake dust shield while I had the hub off.
  11. Longer/adjustable upper and lower control arms, longer/adjustable track bar, longer shocks, longer (YJ) brake lines, longer sway bar links/quick disconnect.
  12. Sounds like you're busy. When do you think you will have it ready for a shake down run?
  13. No, aux fan was an option even without AC.
  14. Difficult to do on a unibody vehicle, since the roof is structural.
  15. You may possibly have to do some minor frame customization other than just "drilling holes", but more importantly, beside the size of the bed to make sure it fits, make sure the wheel wells are in the right place.
  16. A factory installed electric fan should also kick on around 200-210 degrees, regardless of AC being on.
  17. What pouring rain? We are in the middle of a heat wave with 85 degrees and perfectly blue sky here in Ohio. Average high for this time of year is ~60.
  18. Used to tow my trailer to the dumpster at work to unload a load of remodelling garbage. About to change axle oil.
  19. My Firefox browser has been open for 17 days, currently 4 tabs, sometimes as many as 20 and it has 149MB resident memory, most of it data. But I don't believe IE will only use 12K. 12M maybe? Part of the speed might be a large memory cache, which would explain the high consumption.
  20. SOA in the rear will lift you about 5.5" higher than you currently are. Exact number depends on what perches you use and what axle you have. If you want to know what rear axle you have, post a picture of the cover and we can tell you. My perches were welded on professionally, and he used an arc welder. All I know is you're welding 1/4" steel to 1/4" steel, so you need a lot of amps to get good penetration. Arc might be the only realistic choice. I have seen someone MIG weld to an axle housing before, but they used an acetylene torch to preheat the housing before welding. There are 4.5" lift leaf springs out there for ~$350-$400 new.
  21. Cherokees and Comanches use different size tail lights that are not interchangeable. So how can they fit both Cherokees AND Comanches?
  22. Kinked line?
  23. Are you sure it's the joints and not the bolt going through it? Is this on the frame side? Does it use the stock frame bracket? If so it could be an elongated hole in your frame bracket.Common problem.
  24. The MTR with Kevlar is a brand new tire. The only thing it has in common with the older MTR is the name. I have heard the old MTRs were garbage, but have heard nothing but good things about the new ones. Then again, these people might be biased because they had a hand in development.
  25. Lots of dirt, rock, debris, stuff that even ATs do good on. But also some major mud. Thin watery stuff, thick gooey stuff, wet clay, snot. I came up with the following possibilities: BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 Maxxis Bighorn Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar Opinions? Experiences?
