i know what you mean. i love my 86, even if i did get the 2.8L. i emailed them a nice little complaint about that. they said that it was really only the 2.8 was a hard engine to swap. so i told them about the 3.4L. alex

yes they were newer trucks but the concept shou be the same on any truck. alex

and yes there was also the fact that auto manufacturers say that the little vortex keeps air out of the bed. i forgot to put that in there before. :oops: alex

well they ways they did it. it came out as the ol put the tailgate down for better gas milage myth was busted. alex

well i didnt want to post it and look like I'm too technical for everyone but i figured with the gas prices today i would post it since it was proven. plus i mean you might get about 30 more miles like they did. alex

all i can say is get a haynes or factory manual and have fun. alex

well idk what others say i love my 86 and it aint going anywhere. lol. just had to get that out there. i must have got lucky because even though i have the 2.8 it runs strong and purrs. but then again it was bored out to a 3.2L so that might have helped a tad. alex

you know that if you leave the tailgate up you get even better gas milage then with it down or off. mythbusters proved it. if you want it explained it goes something like this. with the tailgate up there is a sort of cyclone in the bed behind the cab that keeps the fast moving air going over the bed. with the tailgate down that cyclone isnt there so the fast moving air hits the tailgate or bed and creates drag. and there you have it. :chillin: alex

feerocknok those rims are from mjs. my 86 has them stock. been looking for one for a spare with center rim and an xtra rim for my rear tire w/o one. they look good in metallic black on mjs too. :D alex

i am not alergic to em, but those suckers use to hit me right on the back of the neck EVERY summer. so i love killing anythin the flys and sting. o and spiders. :mad: alex

EAGLE i used the flares from the junkyard xj on my rears. i needed new rear flares so i took them off the rear of the xj. they fit right up for me. no problems at all. i was even able to bolt them right in. alex

i didnt like the look of it on the rails on my friends truck. but i am going to rhino line the inside of my bed and por-15 clear coat the outside. chip proof everywhere. :D alex

you should fit them because a 3" lift is what they say you need for 31" tires. maybe just add the xtra inch in the back for other reasons but you should clear them. alex

then why did the flares that i got of a junk yard xj 4 door fit my 86 lwb mj? alex

yes they will work. i had to rip some off a junk yard xj for my 86 mj when i bought it because one back one was in really bad shape. they work just fine. even the inside platic/rubber wheel wells work because i had to take these from the same xj too. alex
