my next MJ project, this time a street truck
GirsMJ86 replied to BrettM's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
if you think that one was clean you should see my 86. its next to mint. that one only had a few cosmetic problems but my 86 has none! all the 86 has is mech problems (if you count an oil leak as a mech problem). and the black on black spray can idea that 87manche was talking bout i think, i did it on my 86. i should get some pics up maybe. i used gloss black for the truck and then used the metallic black for the side vents, wheels, camper shell, and the JEEP on the tailgate. turned out REALLY well for just rustoleum. Brett - hope things are going well with that 88 still. Alex -
What do I need to take the bed off?
GirsMJ86 replied to fughley's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
contact bdjr about this. i saw his and his bed was trashed but he got it off and has his new one on. alex -
i will get some pics of my mjs up. i never thought of that for some reason. :dunno: and the site is nice and fast for me but then again i have dsl. and jeep has a myspace site but it is centered around a tour and the compass. alex
-
i don't know how many ppl on here are also a part of this site but it is sort of like myspace.com but for jeep owners. here is my page: http://www.myjeepspace.com/GIRsMJ86 check it out then join and add me as a friend. alex

between my sony xplod, dual exhaust with dual glasspacks, and all the insulation i did when i put in my headliner i can't here a thing in my cab. now if that is a good or bad thing i would not know yet. 8) alex

well my 86 does have a floor shift. i am talking about doing to any mj that i find to replace my 86. all i come across it seems is console shift ones. and i am out there looking to replace my 86 asap. i am just sick of the weak power of the 2.8L and would rather have a 4.0L so i know my way around. but i prefer a floor shift. alex
-
87manche - i might have to take you up on that offer if i decide that i am going to do the swap. i will let ya know. alex
-
ok thats what i thought but i wanted to make sure. thanks guys. alex
-
how hard would it be to make a console shift into a floor shift? alex
-
well i live on a farm so i have tons of truck and tractor tires around. i will say that we have around 25 or so. but none that i want to use on my truck. which if there is anyone that has 4 31" mud tires they want to get rid of that i can put on my 86 i will gladly take em off your hands. alex

what is the most common set up for these that i should ask the junkyards for? what years? basically what should i ask them when i call around? alex
-
that is the one. collectable? then i guess i (and most the others on this site) are big time collectors if you have one or more of these. alex
-
ok everyone i think i have the winner. there are pics on this forum and everything. not one of ours but that $400 rust bucket that is on ebay! :smart: alex
-
another truck forum i am a part of has their classifieds broken down into three groups that i think would be a good idea to keep things easier. they have it like this: FOR SALE, WANTED, and EBAY. maybe we could improve on that by having the ebay one changed to ADS where it just lists ebay, autotrader, and things like that. have the ads one contain stuff that noone in the club owns and just found online or knows of stuff for sale near them. just a thought. here is the site so you can see what you think for a makeover maybe or just for ideas. http://www.myoldtruck.com/vboard/index.php alex

i got mine yesterday. thanks pete! i will get the money out as soon as i get my brakes fixed this next week sometime. alex
-
what no pics of it and the others too i guess? alex
-
millirons does not do brake parts anymore. they said that they have not for about 12 years. i called all the others too and same story, no axles. so what is the most common config for the zj d35? i am going to look into the 8.8. thats a ford right? alex
-
i will give rusk brothers a call and i called milliron and they told me they had no zj rear axles. i don't see how they don't but oh well. is the 8.8 a straight bolt in or would i have to mod it? i am just trying to get my truck drivable again so i am not paying for insurance for nothing. alex
-
i am having no luck finding any around me at all. would some from an xj or mj d30 fit or not? i need to get my breaks back together so i am going to give up on the zj d35 hunt since there are none around me. need to know if this would work or not. or if anyone out there can get some zj d35 disco setups it would really help me out alot. don't know how much they would be worth though. thnaks. alex
-
jeff, how much did you pay for all that? and most of the places i have called won't part out the axles so i have to buy whole. maybe i will find a place though. alex
-
jeff told me that a rear d35 from a zj will work for the disc swap. are the discs just bolt ons? is there anything else that will just bolt on? i am replaceing my lines so i figured i would do this too. also how much should a rear zj d35 run for? the local pick-and-pull said 450 complete. i don't have that much to just blow to have discs so is there any thing cheaper or is that just way too much? alex
-
bodies did not change all that much between 73 and 87. so you can bolt right up with very little mods. and try www.myoldtruck.com for help on those trucks. alex
-
well where else am i to go to get headliner fabric? it is right in town so i don't have to drive far and its very cheap. after all i was on a mission for fabric and its a fabric store. they even have great leather stuff to make seat covers out of for when your seats are in as bad a shape as my chevy bench was. alex

!!need help on oil leak and blown brakes!!
GirsMJ86 replied to GirsMJ86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
why get rid of the prop valve? i could see getting rid of it on a rock climbing rig but on a mud runner i don't see the point. also i was wondering what options i had to do a rear disc swap at this point also? alex
