hey thx i thought when i looked under it today something wasnt adding up right for the rear leafs. i thought that the 4+1 was metric mj only. who knows maybe it was added at the dealer or maybe somewhere after. I'm the 3rd owner so i don't know all the mods done to it xcept for the engine mods. thx alot. alex

how many rear leafs are under mjs? my 88 2wd has 3 and an overload. my 86 4x4 has 4 and an overload. so i was just wondering if there was any reason my 86 had one more. or is it just because its a long bed 4x4? also what did the metric tons have under them? alex

hey cabz what would you say that i do when i redo my 86 2.8L exhaust? I'm going dual pipes all the way with dual glasspacks. should i leave the cats on or take em off? alex

also along these lines if you can get away with it take the cat off. with the 2.5 the cat will weaken your power output so its best to take it off if you can. alex

how much did the tailgate straps run? i was thinking about doing this to mine just to get rid of the old metal ones. alex

yea i didnt know what to put when i didnt know the serial number so i came up with that. i like it but the serial number is more willys style. so I'm not sure what to do. :idea:maybe i should poll it:?: alex

what do you think would look better on the side of the nose? MJ1986-X because its a MJ from 1986 and base model "X" or 160174-S because that is the things serial number followed by the "S" for serial number like the old MBs had I'm not sure which to do. opinions plz. alex

along the lines of the factory manuals you can get em on ebay all the time. just you have to bid fight over them it seems because i still don't have one yet. :( alex

well I'm not too good at wiring things so i went out and got one of the comanche/cherokee books by haynes. has everything youll ever need to know how to do. even wires and has pics to show ya what your doin along the way. alex

well good luck and any thing comanche wise we can always help ya out here if you can't find it else where. also check out the pub for weird and goofy stuff once in a while. and you should post the rebuild and mods you do to this thing in the projects section for everyone to see. alex

yea thats what most of us switch to but not in the stock d35 rear axle. if you want to lift this thing you will want to swap to an mj or xj d44 or an 8.8 rear axle. there are others that fit too but those are the easiest in that order too. the d35 is very weak and breaks easy if you are slipping and then get traction all of a sudden. the front d30 is fine but you can improve it too with swaps but not too many of us here have swapped the d30 i think. not too much talk on here bout swappin it out at least. alex

yea they came from the factory with some pretty low gearing either the 3.73 or something else if I'm wrong but i know its not higher then 3.73. i have also heard of it being 3.07 but I'm not sure if that could be right. as for your tranny it should be ok as long as you got the stock or better tranny. alex

well it appears that you have the stock d30 front and d35 rear axles so that means your gearing is also stock. i think thats 3.73 but not sure one of the other guys will tell you for sure on gearing. not bad looking for 100 bucks if i do say so myself. see ya round on the forums. alex

along the lines of the convert idea. i was gonna cut the top off really carefully and figure out how to use it like a removable hard top. but gave that up too. but what i could do is make one of the dark green canvas ones for the bed like the 2 1/2 tons had.:twisted: alex

you know i was actually thinking of makin it a convert. at one time. but threw it out once i saw pics of the convert. dakotas. and it just wouldnt be right unless i put a fold down windsheild on it and could get my hands on another set of doors to make half doors. but maybe what i could do is paint the cab to look like a canvas top. idk ill have to think on that some more. alex

thx.8). i was thinkin about just goin to the jeep stealership and gettin some of the decals for the willys tj but those r way too much. so i know this one guy who does decals and hes going to do the entire truck for only 100. all the letters, stars, and the tailgate. ill post pics after it gets done later this summer. that willys green paint is going to cost the most though, got to get it custom mixed.:roll:. also i just wish mine wasnt blue inside because that don't go too well with that green but ill deal or redo it all in black. :twisted: alex

well I'm going to paint it up like a willys truck. the umbrella one was one i just thought would be cool. but in order to get it you would have to be a big resident evil game series fan to get why it would be such a joke to see it drive through your town. :twisted: ps. the willys ones are just really bad scans of ones i colored and the umbrella one is one i just threw together so it don't look too good either. but they are just something to go by and look at final result will be much better.
