  1. my 88 had the style in the little triangle and my 86 has the towing style. and ill tell you right out that the towin style is way better over the little front triangle ones. i could hardly see on the 88 and the 86 is heaven with the towing mirrors.
  2. ok then whats a better engine then becuase that was my main idea behind this along with a few other reasons but nuthin big. i need something that will handle 33s without the problems that the 2.8 has.
  3. ive actually thought of this for mine and looked into it. i think i found a kit once that would work with the comanches. ill see if i can find it again.
  4. well i have weldin stuff and plasma cutters and all those other fun expensive toys so i can probly get it done but i don't want it to look like crap. so if it requires alot of hackin and stuff like i can't just break the welds and bolts or whatever then i might as well skip it then.
  5. how hard would it be to swap cabs on my 88 and 86?
  6. thats an after market one i think. bcuz it connects differently then mine did in my 86. mine the rear bars connected onto the front of the wheel wells not the top. just thought id through that out there.
  7. good point didnt think of that. maybe i will wait for a d44.
  8. is the super 35 truss housing upgrade a good idea? will these work and are they good investments?
  9. well actually i said i wasnt sure if i need to do anything with the front or not. and I'm not lookin into regearin at the moment. right now I'm lookin at some axles that have 4.10 gearin in them and are a d30 front and d35 rear. just incase i wasnt quite clear enough. but i would like to get some d44s under it front and rear some time.
  10. yea thats probly what ill do after stories I'm startin to hear from the fsj guys bout their d35s. plus all i need is like $400 for the lift. :D
  11. ok i measured and i got 19 front from center of hub to flare, and 32.5 total. 20.5 rear from center of hub to flare, and 34.5 total. i can look in my owners manual and see if its in there if you want also.
  12. well just the other day i measured the distance from the ground to the bottom of the body right under the doors on my 86. i came up with 18 inches. if you want i can measure elsewhere.
  13. well for right now I'm kind of limited on the cash flow. so I'm stuck with a d35 for now. i want to put d44s under it front and rear but that will be later on. mainly though right now its just gonna be a lifted dd. it will mainly be on the road for now until i get a break from college. so would the d35 with 4.10 gearing work for driving it on the road for now until i can get d44s? remember I'm wantin to put a 6.5 lift with 33s.

    See ya for now!

good luck over seas and hope ya get back safe.
  15. ok well just forget that my truck has the 2.8L because that will not be as soon as i get my 3.4L in it. everyone i talk to says the d35 sucks. I'm not too tech on the axles and stuff so id like to know what is so weak in them and I'm wondering if there is anyway to make it stronger depending on what it is that is so weak in them.
  16. I'm looking into gettin a lift kit for my mj. I'm lookin at the rough country 3" or 6.5" lift kits. and of course get the 31" or 33" tires that go with the lift size. I'm just not sure what kind of axles would work with those. i have the stock d30 and d35 axles. I'm wantin to get a d44 rear or get my gearin up to 4.11 in the rear. I'm not sure if i need to mess with the front at all. need some help on what gear ratios i need for the tire size or what axles would work better for the size of tires.
  17. sounds like a ground. i had a similar problem with my taillights when i took a custom trailer plug off my 86. i rewired it to the stock wire chart but when i tried it the lights were stayin on and i found out it wasnt grounded right nemore.
  18. yes that is how the ones from my 86 lwb one is set up. so it sounds like you got ripped off just like i did when i got mine and saw the holes and was like "great now I'm never gonna find another rollbar for this thing". so join the line for a rollbar... starts WAY back there.
  19. my 86 lwb mj had a rollbar before i bought it bcuz the holes were still in the bed. and since it was a long bed it had holes in the corners by the cab and holes on the fron of the wheel wells. so that should help answer how the factory lwb ones connected. my swb comanche has one in it right now and it connects the same way but there is a difference in space between the front of the bed and the wheel well. i have no clue if the swb one is factoey or not.
  20. true very true. but from what ive seen the closest is the dakota in style and true size comparison. just from what ive seen between my mj and my friends dakota from the same year models. nvr really got into lookin too hard into it cuz quite frankly, idc cuz its not a jeep.
  21. well tech its not but it is the largest compact truck thats for sure. lol bcuz the dakota took after it and they shared alot of parts. like the rollbars and bed toolboxes. and the dakota isnt a compact so the manche is whtevr the dakotas are.
  22. don't bother with the jeep diesel engines. the 2.5L is as good if not better. 2.5L TBI 150 C.I. I-4, rated at 117 HP at 5000 RPM, and 135 Ft. lb. of torque at 3000 RPM. Renault 2.1L 126 C.I. I-4, rated at 85 HP at 3750 RPM, and 135 Ft. lb. of torque at 2750 RPM.
  23. yea i have an 86 and an 88. even though most would say get rid of the 86 bcuz i have the 2.8 with major issues, i just can't. it to me seems too hard to get rid of because of that reason (its an 86). and it had no rust when i got it but surface which has been fixed. the 88 has to go though. its not a 4x4 so i have no use for it. it was fun to spin the tires in but my 86 will once i through that 3.4 in it and all the mods i was gonna do to the 2.8 after i fixed it. ill have close to if not over 200 hp once i mod the 3.4L. so i won't miss the 88 as much as long as it goes to a good home and i can find another 1 or 2 to buy later. :D
  24. that last info was from my manual i have, this info is from a website not sure which u are looking for. 2205lb max payload.
  25. nose should be 2500lbs and bed should be 2700lbs for gawr and 4850lbs for the gvwr. if this is what u are lookin for. this is for my 86 2.8l v6 auto longbed 4x4. but they all should be the same for this.
