  1. Let's help Heavymetalxj, He is trying to get a chance to drive in the KOH race in Camos car here is the post he made to try and get in , watch his vid, you will crack up, he is the one that makes the RCrocs vids and a friend of mine KOH, The Average Guy’s shot. The first day the driver’s seat contest was posted, I had decided I would pass on the opportunity, merely because I felt as though I wasn’t qualified for such a thing. I mean here I am, just some 23 year old guy in Connecticut, I had no dirt/rock sports racing experience, or hell, racing experience in general. I felt as though there were a lot of guys out there who had really worked for stuff like this, and had just missed it, or just couldn’t get some final things in order to be competitive. But the more I read replies to this thread, the more it became clear to me that this was “the average guy’s” contest, a contest available for the guy who may never have a chance to race in an event like this. I say “average guy” speaking on a majority basis. The majority of off roaders are incapable of funding/participating in something like KOH. But this was my shot. It just so happened I had arranged for a flight in on the 8th previously, which turned out to be the day you had to be there by if you won. After filming and creating the DVD for the KOH RCQ qualifier event at Rausch in PA, my eyes were opened to the true rush that was ultra4 racing. I had never been around buggies with that kind of power being used before, sure there was cone dodging, but needless to say this was an entirely different world than cone dodging. And it was a good different. Taking a quote from a racer at the qualifier, “As Ricky Bobby said, ‘mama I’m going fast’, and everybody wants to do it.” I tend to think of everything in some grand filmic sense, and KOH was no exception. I set my flight up from CT to CA to tentatively go film with PinnedTV for the 2010 video for KOH, and I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would have the opportunity to actually be IN the race, this was not something I could pass up. I’ll be the first to tell ya, starting your own business does not leave room in the budget for tickets to Cali, but myself, like so many other “average guys”, took that chunk of change and put it forward to experience one of the biggest and most exciting events in the off road world. I don't even have a separate bank account for my Jeep, but I do for my KOH trip. I won't be the first to tell ya that the east coast has NOTHING like the hammers, we essentially do not have open land, let alone anything to go fast on. It would be a huge life experience, something “average guys” everywhere dream of. King of the Hammers is that dream. I AM that "average guy". So that is my essay. 479 words. And in reference to this quote: Here I have included a video outlining the vigorous training regimen I have put in place to train for KOH, should I be given the chance to drive. It has been a major sacrifice, but we took the greatest terrain the east coast had to offer, and as Eugene Rose would so eloquently say, went “Hammer down.” (For those who don’t know, it’s a play on BFG’s “Area BFE” video, shown here (important to see with it if you haven’t already!): Area BFE - Jeep and 4x4 trips on Vimeo ) and here is the voting MFS/Pirate4x4 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers Top 5 Essay Vote - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

  4. The WV Jeepers had a Jeep show yesterday so I went and did a tiny bit of testing in their rock garden now I got to get out on the trail and do some real testing. Just a couple things left I think, Trying to decide if I want to redo the upper shock mounts so that I can lower it some and get more up travle of just get shorter air shocks to acheive the same thing. Then once I get that dialed in, then look into doing something like the Currie antirock stuff, it's never ending
  5. Gonna be a blast, come and check it out info is all here http://www.mountaineeroffroad.com/jambo.cfm
  6. Hey there Dave, what up, yeah hopefully they will have the 47x 17" LTBs out by the time I need them, choices in a 17" rim are slim
  7. Inline 6 stroked to 4.6 AW4 and Dana 300 twinsticked
  8. I am building it for rock crawlin, it is sitting on 2.5 ton rockwells with front and rear steer, I am planning to shorten up the wheelbase some but I had to get it rolling to move so that is why it is what it is, I don't want to mess with the wheelbase until I have the tires I plan to run so I can make sure of clearances when I shorten up the wheelbase
  9. It is sitting at full stuff right now, no nitrogen in the airshocks , It is sitting on some borrowed 39" tires but it was built for 47" LTB's, once the shocks are charged and it gets the right tires, it will look right and sit right, just had to get it moveable for short time, still have alot of adjustments to do
  10. Moved out of the shop I had been renting so I brought my current project home, Got a shop being built on the back of my property which should be done soon and then I can get back to work on it

  14. You gotta remember that money is a factor in his quest for traction, a truretrack will require him to reset up the gears and all and unless he knows how to do it himself, it will be expensive to have done,a lunch box locker would be a cheaper way to go, no setup involved gear wise, if he is driving it on the street alot, a no slip in the front would be a great choice, they are not harsh when they lock up and he will not even know he has one in 2 wheel drive, as for the rear, does he have a limited slip or open carrier, on an open a lock-rite would be fine and cheaper to buy, if it has a factory limited slip then a no-slip will be the only option for a lunchbox locker for it. I have done the welded spider thing and the problem with it is there will always be stress on the axle shafts when you make a turn at any speed, puts alot of fatigue on the axleshafts over time, with a lunch box it will disengage when not under a load and the axle shafts will last longer, just a few things to consider
  15. here is a couple pics of my XJ I am driveing right now and some pics of the rig I am currently building can be found at http://www.fullsizexjgear.com/Rockwell% ... oject.html[/img]
