Sounds to me like you need to do a brake overhaul lol
-
I don't do this stuff for a living either but why did you just treart the inside, and bondo the outside? Instead of going through all of that work?
-
Did you even read the whole post? .... To OP, sorry for the thread hijack... my bad. I did later lol I was on my phone and It was having issues and I just forgot to edit my post on my PC

I disagree a little with needing back pressure being an myth, Ive driven my xj with just straight headers and it was crap. I lost all low end torque and just power in general. Once the cat was it was much better and then even better when it was straight piped after the cat and then ran out the back

22-24K gets me 22(ish) mpg hwy in my 98 xj with 4.5" 31's and 3.55 gearing...I know its not an MJ, but its the best info I can offer. lol
-
Here's some good links for gearing info: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html http://www.experimentalinsanity.com/vehicle/resources/gearratios.php ^ according to this if youve got the ax5, 4.10s and 32s then you should be running okay on the highway, not every good around town. My guess is that with the gearing being kinda on the low side you don't have much torque, and (this is a guess could be completely untrue) that the machining could have made the catch on the clutch a little more narrow(er).. Someone correct me please, I'm just throwing out ideas..I'm new to this whole manual thing. Not to thread jack, but I havent driven stick in probably 4 years, and that was for a month when I was 16...anyone have any advice for me on basically learning all over again? (I6 ax15)

You are right sorry. I was just looking at the CAD write up page. I did not realize it engaged both front wheels.....? Thought it was just the passenger side. So if the CAD does not engage the truck is still in 2x4? I know this is getting off original topic but i feel it has run its course. haha I believe that if it does not engage than it still is in 2x4

Ive been worndering how 31's would do on my Mj..But I'm worried about the gear ratio being too low. So this would be my guess too low of a gear ratio ^
-
Yep, that's how I do it. I may have stolen your words

Oh my gosh I'm so glad I found this..that link is getting bookmarked under the "to do's"

You want to reuse the rivets. I heated the rivets with a pen torch from underneath and gently popped them out of the dash with a small screwdriver. Then push them back in the new dash and put some epoxy on the bottom to hold the rivets in. It is pretty easy really.

I was just thinking you (and i have heard it before) but you should be able to lift the front tires off the ground and spin the drive shaft with your hand. Count the turns it takes to move the tires around once. I imagine that it would be hard to tell the difference between rather close sets of gears but........ its something haha Really? Ive never heard that before, thats pretty awesome. Ill have to try that out!

Oh the best way is to pull off the cover and count the teeth, or look for the tooth count stamp on the ring gear (it should tell you the tooth count of the Ring and Pinion gears). some times there are still the ratio tags on the axle. but most manual transmissions 4.0s had 3.07 stock Thats what I was thinking 3.07 was stock for manuals. and I'm pretty sure most autos have 3.55s in then. I know my 8.25 under my cherokee does
