Yup 2499 would be the good if it were a 4.0L but not the 2.5L... The 2.5 is a Rev-er and in stock trim is 2800RPMish as you already noted earlier so the ideal RPM is to get your new numbers closer to the RPMs the engine is best running at plus or minus a few depending on your purpose for the vehicle... I am no fan of the 2.5L but if its gutless with the 4:56's then I think you may have bigger issues then gearing... Oh and a Comanche should never be referred to as a "CAR"

I had that style all aluminum rad and it lasted maybe 3 weeks and blew up and started leaking. I took a chance and tried it over the CSF 2671 all metal 3 core and it was a mistake, it didnt fit right and had to mess with the cooler fittings as well then of coarse it started leaking. I would say stick with the proven CSF 2671.

I run the 3 core All metal CFS 2671 Rad and Would recommend any all metal Rad over the plastic/Aluminum crap out there...

You can always go this way if you like the factory bumper look... Not My MJ as this is just a pic from their website... (Error in the Pics) This site won't let me upload any pics here for some reason even my own webshots pics, so you will have to go to the website and view.... 33S Or 35S? Your Input Appreciated.
Jeepman replied to mountainman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was in this same spot a few months back but my truck ended up with a little more lift then your planning and I was Happy I had decided to go with 35's... The way I see it you can always drop down to 33's if you don't like it on 35's or find the fuel economy to be too much plus I find it easier to resell 35's then 33's... -
Yup It is a soft tri fold Extang trifecta. It wasn't easy to find the right fitment. This one that I am most happy with is From an 04-10 canyon/Colorado. As for where I got it well it came from my distributor. And thanks the rims are better looking then I expected they would look.

Looks just like mine when I first got it except the Rust Free part and the Eliminator decals... Look forward to seeing the build up...

New Lifters, Replace Cam Or Not?
Jeepman replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The noise is very common on the I6 and I4 and is probably just due to the lifter bleeding off a little more then others and needing to load up... Normally it is not an issue worth chasing as I have installed a brand new cam and lifters and rocker arms and the tick has came back again... -
New Lifters, Replace Cam Or Not?
Jeepman replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In my Experience you should change the cam as well if doing the lifters but your problem is more likely the Rocker arms themselves as they are a wear item and cheap to replace over doing the cam and lifters... I would start with the rocker arms and go from there... Good luck in whichever way you decide... -
How she is sitting all cleaned up.... For Now that is... Next is the Custom Brembo's for the front axle Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found

Yes trimming my cross member and without the drop I am not sure if you can get away with that much angle or not but you can always give it a try and worst case build a drop kit for your cross member or a custom cross member altogether... Any other Questions just PM me so we don't clutter up this thread
-
Its a Low pinion WJ D30 upfront for my truck... But with the long arm upgrade kit the trans/t-case has been lowered about 2" or so and my only clearance issues is the double carden end of the front driveshaft sometimes makes contact so I have some more trimming to do...

Thank You Sir I appreciate the kind words... As for the Fey Bumper I know I Know but it was the only thing available when I needed a Rear Bumper and since I built my custom Hitch around the Bumper just the way a factory hitch would connect so I am not sure I want to build a Custom bumper Just yet, ,maybe for my Next build as I would change a thing or two the next time around...

Very interested in seeing the Supercharger kit installed as I have been thinking of the Sprintech kit over my current custom made kit that I am working on only so I can keep the A/C...

I think it would be fair to say that Just about everyone here has had to do this exact work at sometime or another... Depending on your skill level this is a fairly easy repair just can be time consuming... Welding in the new Metal is preferred but I have seen folks rivet them in and do a nice job when all is done...

Sorry I do not have any pictures but if you have ever removed a Cross member you will have removed the mounting bolts... An XJ uses only 2 bolts per side to mount the cross member however the MJ uses 4 per side and the two closest to the trans (inside bolts) are attached to the mount you need to remove... Next time you pop your head under your truck you will see what I am talking about...
-
Yes it is a RC XJ Long arm kit and NO modifications needed to the cross member as it is the same as an XJ but what you do need to do is remove the 2 extra support brackets that are attached to the MJ Unibody which just unbolt... It is 8" because the front axle I installed has the coil buckets 2" higher then a stock MJ/XJ axle and Only issue I have with my front drive shaft (which is a stock shaft) is that the RC long arm cross member lowers the trans about 2" and when the driver side wheel articulates the front double carden end hits on the cross member so I need to either a) move the trans back up or b) mod the cross member to allow more articulation... I haven't decided just yet which way I will go... Overall I can't say you will have the same results or not as your setup will be different then mine..
-
Anything can be made to fit if you really want it to but I am not sure the width of it but I think it will be really Wide compared to your front axle... There are easier swaps to do that have easier solutions for the front axle... Is this for a DD or weekend warrior?

Ok not the greatest quality pic but it will do till the weather warms up and I can wash my Truck... I decided on a +10MM offset and 35's Image Not Found

Radiator Suggestions??
Jeepman replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just changed my Rad out to an all Aluminum and would look for an all copper or all aluminum but being an 86 might be tough.. I used this for those out there with a 4.0L http://www.ebay.ca/itm/181196246622?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
