  1. If you put the bolt in the other way, put about 1/4 inch of washers under the head. Otherwise it interferes with the installation of the oil filter...ask me how I know ;)
  2. So, the front mounting flange of the transmission is different between the AX5 and the AX15?
  3. Can you not just swap the transmission behind the bell housing, keeping the one from the 4 cyl?
  4. It depends...what transmission is in the other Comanche?
  5. OK, that makes sense. They list both Bosch and Delphi pumps.
  6. Found a link from the BC4X4 site to Parts Geek. I had not heard of them before, so I looked around a bit, did a search for my 1986 MJ. They claim to have in tank fuel pumps available: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1986/jeep/comanche/fuel_delivery/fuel_pump.html I thought that they were no longer available new?
  7. Some additional info for you. There are two widths of rear brake shoes. I made an assumption and got the wrong ones the first time. If your MJ is 2 wheel drive, your front rotors are different from the 4wd ones. The 2wd ones are one piece units with the wheel bearings pressed into them vs. a unit bearing and separate rotor for the 4wd ones. As mentioned before, rust can be an issue. When I bought my 86, it had poor rear brakes. All the adjusting mechanisms were siezed solid, so the shoes barely touched the drums. Once I replaced all the hardware and the shoes, I started to bleed the system. As soon as I started to get some pressure in there, it blew a line. It broke up beside the fuel tank at the worst possible location. I had to do the load sensing valve bypass and fortunately the other line held pressure.
  8. So far...just XJ floor mats adjustable mirrors and interior door panels and S-10 leather bucket seats. Soon the be the rest of the grey XJ interior pieces that fit, the front axle and the 4.3 / 4L60 / NP231C and wiring from the S-10.
  9. $4.46 / US gal here in Northern British Columbia.Spiked to $4.73 a few days ago and dropped back down. Canadian dollar is 99 cents US right now.
  10. The 55/60 watt rating is for the power consumed by the bulb, not the light output...so if you are already running 55/60 watt Hellas, your MJ wiring will see the exact same current draw - 3.9 or 4.2 amps at 14 volts. Upgrading 25 year old wiring is always a good idea though!
  11. Sorry...Here's a quote of the ad: Hi there, I have a 1989 Jeep Comanche in pristine condition. 4 ltr inline 6 5 speed manual Regular cab long box with 6 inch lift Brand New 33" Pro-Comp Mudding Tires Brand New rock crawler rims Brand new exhaust system. Sounds awesome! . Just passed air care with flying colours. Brand new coils and shocks New brakes, brake lines, hoses New fuel tank, fuel pump fuel lines New sway bar disconnects New seals in the motor including rear end gasket, rocker cover, and a couple others. Fully rebuilt rear axel with 6 months warranty from IWE rear ends only. This was done on January 7th 2013 Brand new mirrors After Market cd player with aux. Exterior is in excellent condition. Interior is very clean, all gauges and electrical components in perfect working condition. Oil change and tranny flush just done at Canadian tire last week. The Jeep does have 259 xxx km's but for the inline 6, that really isn't that bad. I don't know about the timing belt or head gasket. All the mechanics that have worked on this truck say its also in excellent condition and drives beautifully. Tons on life left in this Truck So much money has been put into this vehicle but I'm leaving for school in couple months so no longer need the jeep. The price is defiantly negotiable but don't low ball me because I'm in no rush. This is a rare vehicle and its very hard to find them in this kind of condition. Nothing needs to be done to this vehicle. Its ready to be a daily driver or a weekend 4x4 machine. Starts up 1st try every time. Very reliable. I also have a locker for it. It's a Richmond Lock Right locker which I never got around to installing. Still in its original box and they go for 350 + tax. Please give me a shout at 778 989 0564 if you have any other questions. $6900 OBO Ryan I tried to copy the photos over here, but they are not accepted format or something.
  12. Just passing this along in case anyone is interested. No comment on the Rubicon stickers. http://www.bcjeepclu...p?topic=24241.0
  13. Everything for the front axle will fit an XJ or an MJ, but the effective lift may be different than when it was on the TJ. The rear lower control arms will fit in the front lower control arms - they are the same.
  14. What you need is a SPOT satellite tracker. They are not real expensive to buy or for the subscription. You may even be able to rent one. With the press of 1 button, it will allow you to e-mail all the people who have given you their e-mail address and they will receive an email and can go on line to see where you are. In the event of a breakdown, press a different button and it will e-mail everyone on your list that you need help and where you are. You only need to borrow a computer / internet connection to set it up.
  15. Here's a guide for inspection of spark plugs...its for aircraft plugs, but the inspection criteria and causes are the same http://www.tc.gc.ca/...HR/TP11461E.PDF Inspect all your vacuum hoses and lines...they tend to get brittle and crack with age. What condition are your upper and lower rad hoses and heater hoses?
  16. Canadian and US dollars are almost on par. I bought a new set of S10 springs from Canada Parts Online for $350 shipped to my door. their US website is usautoparts.net http://www.usautoparts.net/catalog/?N=10857+4294963734+1557+11921+4294960698
  17. There are several programs and plug-ins for programs such as Photoshop that will imbed your copyright info into a picture. This of course has to be done before posting it on the web. If I remember correctly, these programs are not cheap. There is also a difference between Canadian and American copyright laws. In Canada, if someone pays me to take a picture, they own the copyright, in the US, the photographer retains the copyright unless specifically transfered when paid for. That being said, though, I think the Canadian gov't just amended the copyright act, so I'm not sure if this is true anymore.
  18. If you are going to euro an MJ you have to GTI the headlights like I did on my old Sidekick project Image Not Found
  19. In case you gentlemen are unaware, there are a few MJ owners on the http://www.bcjeepclub.ca/ website
  20. There is a young lady built one in the British Columbia lower mainland area http://www.bcjeepclub.ca/index.php?topic=6971.0
  21. Careful with the contact cleaner, the type I have dissolved one of my light fixtures.
  22. Here's a build thread from a local who also built an M-37, maybe it will give you some ideas or inspiration http://www.offroad.bc.ca/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1081 Good luck with your build, looks like fun!
