  1. I tried to look it up on google, but couldn't find it.
  2. Don't forget that a headlight's wattage rating is for the power consumed, not the light output. A 55W tungsten sealed beam draws the exact same current as a 55W halogen bulb. The halogen is more efficient and puts out more light that the old tungsten bulb. The wiring and the headlight switch doesn't know the difference. But, as cruiser54 states, be careful if you are putting a higher wattage light than stock, you can fry the circuit, especially if it is "under engineered".
  3. You can buy a set from Mopar - D44 front and D60 rear, only $25,000 for the pair!
  4. Replacing the input shaft is fairly straight forward but long process. You have to split the t-case to get the planetary set out and the only hard part of pulling the planetary is removing the input shaft snap ring which is located under a cover on the front of the front case half. I had one that was glued on there so bad, I destroyed the cover getting it off. Fortunately it was a donor unit that I was stealing the 6 gear planetary from (Chev S-10 NP231C).
  5. I think Manchekid86 put Cherokee floors in his MJ looked like a huge job to make them fit.
  6. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_and_Jeep_transmissions the 231 can replace the 229, they all are supposed to use the same 6 bolt pattern. I think that YJ t-cases used a speedo cable so you should be able to use it but may have to change the gear to match your final drive.
  7. Chev did make a 700R4 to mate to the 2.8, but I don't know if they made a 4wd version. I had one in my 86 GMC S-15 Jimmy 2wd. That being said, you can always convert a 2wd to a 4wd transmission by changing the tailstock and the output shaft - requires a complete disassembly. You are probably better off changing both the engine and tranny from a donor XJ with a 4 L.
  8. Welded in some new sheet metal into the passenger rocker on the MJ, no more holes!!!
  9. If you don't connect the ground wire to the door switches, they can still be used as map lights but won't come on with the rest of the in cab lights.
  10. OK, I guess my advice wasn't very helpful, sorry.
  11. Who's track bar are you running? Rubicon Express? Their heim joint wears out pretty fast, I have one in my TJ. I plan on cutting off the heim joint right next to the ball and welding the remains to one of RE's upper control arm build kit RE3791: http://www.4wd.com/F...&t_pn=R/ERE3791 I will have to get the ball drilled out to 5/8" to fit the RE mount bolt. These kits are $34.95 at 4WD Hardware
  12. The extra draw from the stereo may have fried something in the headlight switch.?
  13. Quote from the factory service manual I have: "Manual Transmission ....................... SAE 75W-90 API GL-5" Don't know what else to say...
  14. Cool build, I have similar plans for my 86. Donor vehicle is 1994 S-10 Blazer. What is the purpose of the marine version of the throttle body? Better than the stock one or just the way you got it?
  15. Sounds like your deck is getting it's power from the dash light wire instead of the normal switched power wire which is red in my 86.
  16. What oil does the AX-15 normally use? I run the MTL in my NSG-370 in the TJ with good results and my MJ is supposed to use GL-5 (80W90) I was planning on changing it, but not sure if I want to spend the big bucks for MTL or Syncromesh.
  17. Here's a pic of the new dome light Image Not Found
  18. Fabricated and intalled passenger seat mounts and installed the seat, wired in some GM dome lights, wired in the power seat controls, changed the oil and diff fluid.
  19. You could always use a divorced t-case from a Samurai but it will give you an underdrive high range.
  20. Neither of my interior lights were working, so I took them out to try to test them. The internal switch was non functional and I couldn't clean them. Turns out that the cargo area light for a 1994 S-10 4 door Blazer fits right into the cut out on the B pillar. I just had to cut off the GM connector and install 3 blade type crimp connectors. To make them fit, the blades had to be narrowed to fit into the Jeep connector. The connections are Orange to Orange (Hot), Black / white to Orange / black (door switch ground) and whatever the other two are (unswitched ground) goes through the switch built into the GM light. So they both come on with either door, by rotating the dash light switch and by turning on the switch on either light. Cheap and easy!!!
  21. Lots of good lookin work there Manchekid86! I'm glad mine wasn't that bad!
  22. Coolant sensor leaking? Before pulling the head to replace the gasket, check that the head bolts are torqued correctly. I once had a problem where it looked like the head gasket was leaking, it turned out to be a pin hole in the upper rad hose spraying a little jet of water onto the head.
  23. I need some Comanche emblems, how much?
  24. Funny, I was just up there - did you happen to notice a couple of Transport Canada Inspectors kicking around at the end of October?
  25. Just fyi, Quadrtec's floor liners are made by Rugged Ridge http://www.ruggedridgeoffroad.com/jeep-all-terrain-floor-liners.php
