Push Bar Bracket Dimensions
maddzz1 replied to SomeNew Name's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It would be nice if the brackets line up with the frame, then maybe just weld some L channel to the bracket so that they run along the frame rail. Then just drill some holes and bolt it to the frame. If the brackets don't line up with the frame it will be alot more difficult -
Too bad his statement is true: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-hen ... 79596.html

Mine bolts to both. But their are no seperate brackets with it. I havent put it on yet so I can get you some pics tomorrow of what mine looks like if you want -
who makes the front bumper on that? i saw a similar one at my work the other day and it was some name i never heard of, like farm tech or ranch something.

Thanks, thats what I thought.

did you get a chance to check?

OK here is another angle... is the gauge reading correct temperatures? How could your other jeep run at a lower temp than the stat? I mean your engine will EASILY surpass this temp if the flow is blocked as it is when a stat is in place. SO, either your stat is stuck open, its not a 195 stat or your temp gauge is not reading correct temps. CW Very good points. I had wondered this about the MJ, since I put the 195* stat in there. I think my other job has one of those point and shoot digital thermometers, I will try and find it and do some testing. The gauge could easily be reading low. The XJ tho, I think may be accurate because it reads normal most of the time, only runs hot in traffic on the highway. I will also check this if I can find the thermometer at my other work. Neither of the stats are the OEM style with the hole in them.

With the SOA you should get somewhere between 5.5" to 6.5" so you may need to add a coil spacer to level it out.

Yep - IF the fan works, and IF the temp sensor in the radiator works, and IF the relay works, and IF the wiring is hooked up and IF the connections aren't corroded. On a 20+ year old MJ there are a lot more reasons why the aux fan probably doesn't work than there are reasons to think it might work. The fan didn't work on my '88 when I first got it. I found that the connections where the wiring plug went onto the relay were so badly corroded that one tab of the relay simply didn't exist. I had to cut all the wires, crimp on new female connectors, and attach each wire individually to a new relay. I didnt know this, I thought it only worked with AC. I will turn the AC and see if it kicks on that way, atleast that will give me an idea if it works at all. Where is the relay located, I will check all the wiring for it. The PO has done some "modifications" :wall: to some of the wiring so I can add this to the list. When I changed the thermostat half of the temp sensor for the fan was coveded up with a pile of s#*t from the sealant he used on the housing

Well atleast the gravel driveway has solved the problem of the family complaing about the spots. If the slip yoke is bottoming out on a ring, maybe that is the inner seal and maybe the slip yoke has knocked it out of line from bottoming out on it. Just throwing out a suggestion. Is the front end of the slip yoke sliding out past the ring completely and then sliding back in past it? If so it may be getting caught on it now and then and knocked it out of line. :dunno:

This XJ has the electric fan already in it but since the AC doesnt work it never kicks on and is probally doing more harm than good at this point. I will try and wire a switch up to it. My 89 MJ, which doesnt have an elec fan (no AC), never goes above 175*-180* with a 195* thermostat

It has been fine driving around town at red lights and stuff and when i let it idle in the driveway for a while. It started to run hot today when i got stuck in traffic on the highway and earlier when the wife took the baby to the zoo, also requiring stop and go on the highway. Its that damn highway :fs1:
-
No, it runs 210* in normal driving; I have also let it idle in the driveway for like 25 min when i put the rad and thermo in and it didnt go over 210* . It started creeping up towards 230*-235* in traffic before I put the heat on to drop it back down.
-
My 94XJ 4.0 is running hot in traffic but as soon as I put the heat on it drops right down. It tends to run about 210* w/ the 195* thermostat during regular driving. I just put a new (used) radiator and a new 195* thermostat in. I noticed the cap is leaking a little so I will replace that tomorrow. Will an OEM thermo with the hole in make a difference since it is only running hot in traffic? I just got this jeep so I'm not sure if this was a problem previously. Any suggestions? I also have an elec fan but the AC isnt working. Is there a write-up anywhere on how to wire a switch to the dash for it?

comanche87 has a grey one and a maroon one if you are iinterested. pm him

How about putting in a full console and putting the switch box where the e-brake handle would be for an XJ, since the MJ has the e-brake on the floor that space isnt really used. You could trim the console insert and make it look factory with a little work.

I also had one for a while. I made sure it was from a very reputable breeder, they showed me pics of their dogs in books from the pet store, showed me trophys that their dogs had one, and paperwork and all bloodlines. The key is how you raise the dog. My dog was great and never violent or aggressive toward anyone unless they were aggressive toward us (me, my wife , and kids). She was jealous tho, she would lay between us in the bed and try to push us apart so she could be in the middle :dunno: . I would love to get another, but unfortunately they have passed a law in my town where you are not allowed to own one, unless you had it before the law was passed. Again, caused by media hype and closed minded people. The most vicious dog i remember was a poodle when i was growing up. The pit bull myth about turning on owners is almost as big a joke as roid rage.

I think you need to remove the clear plastic lens to get to it to disconnect it. Then once its disconnected you can pull the cluster far enough out to get to the speedo cable in connectors. Be careful tho, the speedo cable clip brakes easy if you pull it to far.

bought another, need front lift advice
maddzz1 replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't believe its a myth altho I have never done it. I have heard you will get 1"-1.5" from the ZJ coils and 2" from the ZJ up-country coils. -
Anybody else get this virus? I opened a link on jeepforum to one of their sponsors sites and all the sudden i started getting these personal antivirus pop-ups. Apparently it is a virus that disguises itself to look like antivirus software. The worst part is my Norton Antivirus did nothing to stop it. After some research I bought a program called stopzilla to get rid of it. :headpop:

find somebody that is doing a part out, thats what i did. check 4 door cherokees at the jy. the wipes are usually shot but should be able to find the channel in good shape. don't just pull them up, there is a hook thing down in the door and it will tear them. remove the door panel too unhook it. The inside wipes are usually in better shape, i think you can use the inside wipe on the outside of the opposite door with a little work.
