That's rough. :( Got sick of watching the low fuel warning light blinking at me because I wasn't putting in more than 20 bucks at a time, so I filled mine right up today... now you've got me worried...

Might need a shoehorn... but that would blow the socks off any 4.0 if you could manage it.

I've never had anything really to do with weed. My first experience with it was at a party and there were some people who lit up. I didn't partake, but just being in the same room, I started to get all hay fevery, and got a migraine that stuck around for the next day. Figured it was best to avoid it after that. Beyond that I don't really have an opinion about it. May as well legalize, regulate and tax.

That means you can tell him all sorts of things and convince him the truck's worth waaaay less than he's asking ;)

Hey, I won't argue with any of you. It's really not my place. As of right now, Romney's got a slight edge. Either way, I hope it works out for you guys. Oh, and welcome to the site, Jay.

I'd say the recovery of the US economy, albeit slow, after the disaster left by previous presidents (of both parties) has been a "good thing". I'd point out that the Canadian economy did not suffer to quite the same extent, having already in place a great deal of the regulations that Obama established, all of which Romney has claimed he's going to repeal. Obama care is not exactly the greatest solution to reducing health care cost, in fact I'd almost go so far as to say it's pretty darn terrible, but it's about all that could be done given the existing system, assuming something needed done at all, without tearing the whole thing down and rebuilding it. But to say that the Canadian system (and the various systems in other countries) doesn't work properly is simply ignorant. It works as well as intended. I know this because, as you point out, I live here, not there. It may not be "perfect", but then nothing involving more than one person ever will be from everyone's perspective. Trillions of dollars were spent fighting wars left behind by previous president(s) that Obama took great strides in ending, and anyone with any knowledge of economics will tell you that the quickest way out of a recession is by government spending. Libya was and is ridiculous, as are/were Afghanistan and Iraq, and Syria and Iran likely will be. The US did much better when foreign policy was to keep it foreign. If anything happens to you that warrants a response, you can blow pretty much anyone off the planet. Being preemptive will just make people hate you. But that's not partisan, it applies to both parties Hurricane Sandy didn't exist as anything, really, more than a week before it hit New Jersey, so telling people to GTFO was about all that could be done, and blaming anyone for hurricane damage in a place hurricanes don't really happen is a little ridiculous, too. Yeah, maybe I don't live in the States, but that doesn't mean I can't keep track of what's going on on a national level. But as mostly an observer, I've made my observations. Do what you will with them. I'm not going to be able to sway you or anyone and have no intention of doing so, and really have no desire to start a political war. I know things are very sensitive in that area. I'm not sure which of these new candidates I'd support, Comanche County's MJ or Odin. I'm partial to viking gods, though.

As a US citizen only because my Dad was, I felt it was something of my duty to vote. However, then I looked into voting from outside of the country and discovered that I must vote in the county in which I last resided. Quite a clever way of excluding people who've never lived in the US from voting. My two cents as an outsider with a vested interest is that while I would typically consider my politics fairly right of centre, Obama seems to have done some decent things, and the republican candidates of late have pretty much all been jokes. In the last Canadian election, I voted Conservative, (essentially Republican) because the leader of the Liberal party (usually pretty moderate) didn't really seem to give the posterior of a disease-bearing rodent about anything other than becoming Prime MInister, and the NDP (essentially Democrats) were pretty much laughable. Voting Green is irresponsible, and voting for any of the other umteen parties would have just been pointless.

Trying To Level Out My Comanche

This isn't what you're looking at, by chance? Bumper doesn't look perfect but it's pretty good.

Yeah, got me too. There's a highway 394 that starts about two miles from here that I was about to drive out to...

Welcome to the site and the madness as some would say! As a general tip, if you need help with something specific, it's best to mention it specifically, also in the thread title, and the more pictures you can provide the better. We like pictures. This is my synopsis of the site after a couple months here: Up on the top left of every page, under the ComancheClub banner, there are four tabs. News is the home page of the site. You can also go there by clicking the banner itself. Mostly news seems to consist of Comanche of the month. Members is a list of site members. Useful for finding people. Sometimes. Forums, which you've found, is the forum. As far as I can tell this is the main function of the website. More on this below. Shoutbox is like a chatroom. It shows up at the top of the main forum page too. Up at the top right corner of every page are your personal features, your private message (PM) inbox, and other settings and stuff. Your username is a menu from which you can access you profile settings, avatar (your picture beside every post, and a few other places) signature (the stuff under your post) and other stuff. Under that, there's a search bar. The grey box in it is a menu with options to search different parts of the site. At the bottom of every page is a bunch of site statistics and other website information. The forums, are an extensive and dynamic source of information about Comanches. Kind of like Wikipedia but better, because it's a forum, not an encyclopaedia. There are mulitple sub forums. News and COTM: news and comanche of the month. Mostly the same stuff as what's on the home page. MJ tech: techical information that's comanche specific. (MJ is Jeep's internal designation of the Comanche). There's lots of stuff in here. As with every sub forum, really useful threads (and forum rules) get pinned to the top. If you're having an issue or just have a question about your Comanche, search this forum. If you can't find anything, post a question. It's a good idea to be specific both in the title/subject and the post itself, so others can help you more easily, and so others who might also have this problem/question can find your answer more easily by searching. Always mention your truck's general details, i.e. 2wd/4wd, which engine/transmission/transfer case, short wheelbase or long, any variable which can narrow down the issue to your specific truck. The Pub: random stuff that's mostly not Comanche related. Things that you want to share, non-mj questions, funny stuff, things you've been up to, anything really... There's a "popular threads" subforum here too that has threads like "what did you do to your comanche today", "accident pics", "you know you own an MJ if...", threads that invite other people to share, so they're popular. Your Project MJ's: want to make an ongoing blog about your Comanche? Start a thread here, and post updates in it. Watch what other people are doing with theirs, and stea- sorry, adapt - their ideas for your truck if you like them. Subforum: past MJ's of the Month, which is self-descriptive. DIY-project write-ups: Did something creative with your truck? Want to share how you did it? Post a write up with lots of pictures so other people can do it too if they want. Useful info/ popular/ essential mods are pinned. One of these pinned threads is a very useful list of common acronyms. Subforum: Comanche registry: register the vin of your comanche and every one you see (with obvious limits) so people know where they are and what shape they're in. Even if it's in a junkyard, someone might want parts. Pix are useful. There's also an ongoing effort to track down the last comanche produced. Wheeling trips and Meet-and-greets: If you're planning on going wheeling, post info and maybe some other people from your area will come, or find out if someone else is planning one so you can crash it. Also useful for finding other site members in your area and meeting up with them for purposes other than wheeling. Split into subforums by vague geographic location. Classifieds: classified ad listings, three subforums: For sale (stuff you're selling), Wanted (stuff you're looking for) and Craigslist/ebay &c (ads you found online that aren't yours but you want to share) There's also a subforum for vendors to list stuff. Forums problems or website suggestions: as per title, issues with the website itself Testing, 1,2: A dark, out of the way corner to experiment with forum features. Doesn't really get much attention. So not knowing what you're looking for, I've given you everything I can think of. Happy browsing!

I Need More Wiggle Room... And An Updated Home
gogmorgo replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
I guess incandescents, various other gas-filled lights, like halogens, sodium lights, etc, but those are usually intended for exterior use, and might be a bit bright or strangely coloured for indoors. LEDs are a better alternative if you're trying to save electricity. They cost a lot, but last pretty much forever. Usually for me lighting has been a choice between fluorescent and incandescent, don't really know too much about anything else. Personally I'd recommend going with incandescents, but they're increasingly unavailable in the US, as I understand it, and use a lot more electricity for the light they give off, since they just pump electricity through the filament until it gets so hot it glows. Ironically enough, when my parents switched to cfl's, their power bill went up a lot because we've got electric heat, and the lack of heat from the lights near the thermostat meant the furnace came on more often. So they switched back to incandescents to save power. But YMMV. -
I Need More Wiggle Room... And An Updated Home
gogmorgo replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
I'm not 100% on the science behind the way fluorescents work, but it has to do with electricity stimulating mercury atoms in vapour form, and the way they interact. With a cold bulb, some of the mercury vapour condenses into liquid, and the rest of the vapour is moving around less, so there's less contact between atoms, which means a less effective light bulb. My guess is the increased distance between electrodes in a longer tube makes the effect of cold worse, since the energy has to go further from the electrodes to get all the mercury excited. I've seen different solutions, if you're looking for one, from higher-power ballasts to some sort of heating device put on the bulbs, all of which work with mixed results. There are some bulbs that are marketed as cold weather performing, but my experience is that even they won't work when it gets cold enough, whereas most other types of bulbs usually work. Incandescents (if they're still available) have the added bonus of providing a small degree of heat to the space. As a kid we sometimes used a trouble light to keep warm inside the snow hut/cave/igloo things we built in the back yard. -

Those fluorescents might get interesting when it gets cold out. Good thing you've got a heater in there. All in all looks great! Wish I had garage space... -
Headliner Glue Recommendation
gogmorgo replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Interesting... when I used a cheap spray adhesive to put my headliner back up, it failed because it got cold... I now keep a hat in the truck at all times. ;) Eventually I'll do it right with new fabric and a proper headliner adhesive. -
That is true. Desolate flat place with a huge sky, decent soil and lots of expensive things in the ground which is frozen solid five months of the year. I'm here for the friendly people, though. And honestly for the cold winter. After a couple years on the North shore of Lake Ontario, I started to miss it somehow...

It's an inline-V6? I hope this guy didn't do the restoration... I'd be careful about someone claiming they need to sell a car at half it's worth due to finances. Make sure there are no liens on it if you do buy it.

Apparently it got all the way up to 37F yesterday... Universities attract people from around the world? I think I agree with you, if I was a "new Canadian" with a choice as to where to go, I don't think my first pick would be Saskatoon...

Woke up to seven inches of snow today, guess winter's not getting pushed back any further. And to think, the last crops came off just three weeks ago. I took pics of my MJ under it's blanket, but somehow I've misplaced my camera :( But seven inches of snow makes driving around campus (and the surrounding areas) really frustrating. The roads are reasonably clear of snow, but not of immigrants... I got stuck behind some guy so slow I was riding the brakes at idle so I wouldn't run into him... :headpop:

My Gauge Cluster Is Wack
gogmorgo replied to anti-christ-comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just going from the size of the tires themselves, a 235/75/15 has a 4% larger circumference than 215/75, but the larger tires should make your speedo read low, not high. I'd guess at lower than normal gears, assuming everything's indicating "properly". 4k seems a little high, but does your engine actually sound like it's revving that high? As for the speedo jumping around, that's likely an issue with the cable or something the cable connects too. I think I've seen a thread or two pertaining to that issue. My dad's van does that, but it's not really worth it to fix since it still points more or less in the right direction. What's up with the battery light? With normal driving, the fuel will slosh around, which can significantly change what the gauge reads. Mine goes up and down by a 1/4 tank accelerating and decelerating. -
Extremely Rusted Floor, Suggestions Please!
gogmorgo replied to darkenfire's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmm, I'll have to look into that. I was told that a stainless blade is too soft to hold a razor edge, and I've never been able to get one onto a stainless blade. Maybe it's just too hard to sharpen properly? Now I'm confused, because you're definitely right about it being harder to work with... Damn, a quick google search confirmed exactly that, stainless is just a b*@$£ to sharpen. Now I've got to go figure out who told me that stainless was soft and slap them silly. :thwak:- 41 replies

Extremely Rusted Floor, Suggestions Please!
gogmorgo replied to darkenfire's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The thing about stainless is that it's a lot softer than "regular" steel, unless it's not all that stainless. I'm not sure I'd want it for the frame... a lot of expense for not much benefit, imo. Stainless may not rust as quickly as "regular" steel, but it still does rust. This comes from my experience with knives, so I don't really know how well it would extend to frames, but the higher-quality (more rust-proof) stainlesses won't hold an edge as well as a carbon steel blade. You can't get a stainless knife to the point where you can shave with it, it's just too soft, but you can quite easily get a carbon steel blade to that point.- 41 replies

For sale 88 Comanche.
gogmorgo replied to Bitemybag's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Just a comment from an ex-pump jockey. You might want to put a bit more angle on that filler neck if you can... gas seemed to like flowing uphill in some of the custom rigs I had to fill, and your neck looks pretty horizontal. But otherwise that's a beast of a rig. I'm jealous.
