Broken windshield washer pump
gogmorgo replied to Jacks15379's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I say I put it back to be honest I may have just tucked it up somewhere where it wouldn't land on my shins again. There's a couple things that were velcroed to the dash panel that goes under the steering column, and I haven't really been able to get any of the velcro to stick. I'll go take a pic for you though, if it is stuck somewhere. Can't guarantee the velcro is factory either.- 26 replies

Broken windshield washer pump
gogmorgo replied to Jacks15379's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Probably not the OP's issue, but last summer I was having some intermittent problems with my wipers, simply not doing anything when I turned them or tried to wash the windshield. Then as I was driving down the road I hit a bump and the wiper module hit me in the shin. It had come off its velcro or whatever holds it in place and slowly unplugged itself. Plugged it back in, stuck it back where it goes, and haven't had a problem with the wipers since. It's at least something to look at.- 26 replies

Pretty sure mine's all the way down. I like the wheel to be vertical.

My tilt column doesn't ever get adjusted, because it's where I want it to be. All of the vehicles I've driven without a tilt column always have the wheel in a less than optimal position, which goes from awkward to aggravating, and generally involves a ton of bus-driver. I imagine it would be the same for an XJ/MJ. I'm happy to have my tilt column.

1992 4X4 H.O. Automatic Comanche

I see these VIN searches pretty frequently, and there's a ton of variation between them. What's the chance someone here would have a breakdown of what each position is for, and what each digit means? -
$20 says she had her phone out. Hope you and the XJ are doing okay. Getting rear-ended is no fun at all.

I'll point out that Geek Squad is part of an outfit that sells new computers, so it's beneficial for them to say computers aren't worth fixing... For a while I was running Office 2007 for my Mac, with a package and key I got off thepiratebay. Just a thought. I've got a Toshiba SP4300 running XP in the garage. It's really only good for reading PDF shop manuals, but the external wifi card does a better job picking up the signal from my house than my nearly new phone does... Too bad it can't load a modern webpage quickly enough to make use of it!

Make sure the engine and trans are attached together. But it does sound a little like the exhaust smacking against something, too. Hard to tell from the video where it's coming from.

You'd think that exchange would shift little Timmy over to the naughty list? I repeatedly asked for a Ferrari on my Christmas list. Didn't even get a Sunfart for my troubles.

Yup. These guys are always late to the party. Not sure what it is :dunno:

I also don't use it, which is why I couldn't tell you how. -

That line at the bottom of every post saying you're using Tapatalk on X device is a signature you can edit. Couldn't tell you how, but others have. -
What to do if your hood release cable breaks

Why is this pinned in For Sale? Has it always been here? -
There's also a five-cylinder version of it because the I6 was too long to put in a Colorado. Lol. My parents have an Envoy XL with the 4.2. I've used it a couple times to haul Jeeps around, my MJ and an XJ on a dolly, and a KJ on a pretty bi car hauler. It pulls pretty good, but it definitely struggles with the extra weight. Without a trailer behind, can't say I'm a fan at all. It drives like it's much bigger and heavier than it is, and I have never ever been able to find a comfortable driving position. And I've driven it as far East as Ottawa and as far west as Vancouver Island. That said, the engine isn't bad. But it looks like a pretty tall engine. As in possibly too tall for an MJ. I did size it up (mostly by eyeball) when my MJ was in need of a new engine. I also don't think I'd reuse the transmission in an MJ either. Their original only lasted 90,000 miles before it broke the sun gear, which is apparently a pretty common problem. And when it broke it wasn't under much stress, just a highway cruise through north-western Ontario.

Sounds like the fuel pump ballast resistor circuit is having problems? Try bypassing the ballast resistor. There could also be rodent damage to the wires if it's been sitting. It's also a good idea to go over Cruiser's tips. www.cruiser54.com

http://comancheclub.com/topic/41500-mj-light-bulb-list-led-replacements/ First make sure all the bulbs are correct. If there's a single-filament bulb in a double-filament socket it'll cause funky problems. If there's trailer wires added, they're usually pretty crudely hacked in and could be causing issues. The headlight switch itself is also worth looking at. Your connector is probably melted, but even if it isn't you'll want to consider upgrading your headlight wiring with a relay harness. One more thing regarding the headlight switch and your dash lights, if you spin the knob it dims them. You probably already knew that, but if the lights flicker or come on and off when you turn it, you'll want to replace the headlight switch for sure.

I was in CA this summer. Saw a pretty good chunk of it, down 101 from Oregon to Monterey, up past Sacramento towards Reno, then back across from Vegas to Santa Cruz via Death Valley, Bakersfield, Big Sur. Then back up past Sacramento towards Bend, OR. beautiful place for a visit, but way too hot to live there, can't understand how anyone could put up with it.

My truck is mostly my daily, yeah. Almost completely stock still. As far as off-roading goes, she's a hell of a gravel pounder, and I'm not afraid of the lesser roads on the grid, for example the ones with trees growing between the tire tracks) but it doesn't see much actual off-road. Everything up here is either private property or protected land it seems. Maybe there's some stuff going on further north, up past the Ducks, but I don't ever get up that way, and the only other people I know with Jeeps around here don't really seem to be interested in actually using them as they were intended.

And if that's the case, it's good news cause 3.55 D30's are a dime a dozen.- 33 replies

Well, you're now officially the closest member to me. I'm up near Onanole. Pretty isolated from other Jeep people. And Portage is pretty far from the worst place you could get abandoned. Not only are you in an ideal location for hitchhiking, you've also got bus AND train out of there. Pretty good for this neck of the woods.

Thanks for asking before it, you know, fell off. Slightly loose lug nuts are a much easier fix than missing nuts, lugs, or worse... wheels.

Please Explain This! - 4wd Issue
gogmorgo replied to JaysJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My guess is the existing D35 got lunched and the first one found to replace it went in just to get it back on the road. Imma say 3.55's in the back. But that's just another guess.- 33 replies

Great truck! Tell me more! Whereabouts in 'Toba are you? And welcome to the madness.

I'm not denying that. We definitely have more than our fair share of ignorance and xenophobia, and we do an unfortunately good job of sweeping it into the corners and pretending it doesn't exist. But when you have political leaders openly provoking people to incite violence against ethnic or racial groups, or supporting groups whose primary contribution to society is the perpetration of hate crimes, that's a problem, and one that a lot of people are angry about.
