My euphoria at having my Internet back was short-lived. I awoke this morning to find ... NO Internet (again). I'm back on the cellular WiFi hotspot. This cable company is the worst of the worst, but the state has given them a monopoly on service in my town. They can't tell me when service might be restored. Not a happy camper.

Painting the instrument cluster bezel

Thanks for going the extra mile and checking that out. -
I have an '88 XJ with a D35 that has 287,000 miles on it and it has been driven off-road. My red '88 Comanche also has the D35 and has been driven off-road. I would take a D35 before that POS aluminum "Dana 44" any time.

Must be part of that "new normal" someone mentioned several posts above. I had heart surgery in 2014. The surgeon was on the staff and faculty at Yale New Haven Hospital. I felt fortunate to have had him -- he was the guy who taught other doctors how to do it. Several months ago I received a letter from Yale New Haven Hospital informing me that the doctor had left Yale and they would follow up about my care. Never received any follow-up, but hopefully I won't need more surgery. My cardiologist is also affiliated with Yale, so I'm still with their system For other medical stuff, I mostly go to the VA hospital. I had been with one doctor there as my primary physician for about 15 years. Then she moved on to head up a new women's health unit at the hospital, so they arbitrarily assigned me to another primary care doctor. She was "okay," but I didn't really warm up to her. Last week I received an unsigned letter from her announcing that she has transferred to the women's health unit, so now I'm being assigned to yet a third primary care doctor. And, once again, I don't get any choice. Doctors are just like everyone else. They do what they perceive to be in their best interest, and we patients just have to adapt. Keep on persevering.

I've always believed that a stereo should have at least one speaker ...

ZJs don't have transaxles. The auto tranny is a Chrysler, and it's not the greatest. Rear axle in the V8s was an aluminum "Dana 44" that may be the only rear axle in the world that's worse than a Dana 35. I don't know if the 6-cylinder ZJs got the aluminum Dana 44 or a Dana 35. 94s were prone to rust-out. Check the entire undercarriage carefully.

That's what sway bars (a.k.a. Panhard rods) are for. Considering that even the base MJ springs are rated for 3/4 of a ton, I don't understand why you would describe them as "soft."
-
Why? Remember, a SOA conversion is going to raise it at least 6 inches. Why much weight do you expect to be putting in it? Making it higher will make it less stable.

Can you pull the filler piece out and see if the part number is cast into the back face? -
Well, if you define "long term" as six weeks -- yeah, it worked great.
-
That's a fair assumption but, before I try to answer, I'd like to understand what the problem (if there is one) really is. Making a pickup sit level when it's empty is not smart. That's why I asked.

What's not level?

After breaking two previous appointments, the cable company tech finally showed up at noon today (Monday). The problem was, as I pretty much knew, that the previous temporary repair had failed. It only took him 15 minutes to find the problem and fix it -- but I was out of service for six days. I'm not happy about that. So ... I'm back, until I'm not.

First step is to remove the bulbs and use a test light or multimeter to confirm that you're getting power to the sockets. If so, then check the grounds. How did you check the fuses?

leaf spring issue
Eagle replied to early comanche owner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you lift the rear, why would the rear sit lower than the front? Do you have a taller lift currently? Also, what "pad" are you referring to? The plastic slider pads at the ends of the leaves? They're just there to avoid squeaks -- if that's all it is, you don't need them. -
By far the easiest and (IMHO) "best" swap for the '86 with a V6 is another V6 -- the Chevy/Pontiac 3.4L.

I hope all the Comanche Club family has a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you all stay clear of COVID-19.
-
That would work, IF the MyCloud were connected to the Internet. However, the Internet connection is down somewhere between the house and the street (or somewhere between the house and upstream, but if the outage affected the whole street I'm sure they would have fixed it by now.

Here we go again. Just before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday the cable connection dropped out. Rebooting the modem didn't help and I know the indoor ethernet cabling is good because I was on-line when it dropped out. So it's either a bad modem or -- much more likely -- external. As far as I know they never made a permanent repair to the temporary fix from back in October, so probably that finally gave up. The earliest they can get someone here will be Friday afternoon so, until then, I'll be using the cellular mobile WiFi hotspot, and limiting my on-line activity to conserve my data plan. Question for those who know computers: I'm connected to the cable company modem and router by ethernet. When the external connection drops out, I can't access the mobile WiFi hotspot when I'm physically connected to the network. The mobile hot spot shows up and says connected, but when I start my browser it immediately opens the cable company's web page showing an inoperative modem and telling me that it can't connect. The only way I can use the mobile hotspot is to disconnect the LAN cable so I'm not physically connected to the router. The problem there is that I keep my files on a Western Digital "MyCloud" external hard drive array, to which I connect through the ethernet cable and the router. So if I want Internet I can't access my files -- if I want my files I can't have Internet. That can't be right. What do I have to do so I can have connectivity and still be able to access my files?

Yeah -- I have almost half as many as Pete
-
I know, Pete. I was specifically responding to the question about the dash plaques, hence my reference to the OP (Opening/Original Post).
-
But the OP doesn't have to convert anything. He can scan his plaques into JPEGs of PDFs. As JPEGs, he doesn't even need Photoshop -- those can be manipulated just fine in Microsoft Paint. Greg, I don't know if you're aware that Avery sells "labels" that are one label per 8-1/2x11` sheet. Staples probably has their quivalent for a bit less money. You could print them directly to the "label" and you're all set to apply the print to the dashboard.

Possible Comanche trans swap
Eagle replied to 242 kenny's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's a 4-cylinder. Do you know which automatic transmission you have? -
MJs, and XJs until 1999. In 2000 Jeep switched the XJ to a low-pinion Dana 30 in the front. TJ Wrangler front axles are all (I believe) low pinion). ZJ front axles are all low pinion.

Colorado red is red, it is not metallic. FWIW, Rustoleum red in the rattle cans is almost a perfect match for Colorado Red.
