  1. My down pipe was like 26 bucks shipped from Q-tec, and Eagle is right about the Cat... they are cheap easy to get. If you were closer I would sell you one of the 4 manifolds I have in my garage...
  2. I can comment on 2 diffferent sets. The pro comp tires while aggressive looking don't do well in mud  unless you have lots of wheel speed. Also they are loud for what they are, and don't wear very evenly. You really have to experiment with tire pressure, to get a good foot print. BFG.... by far these are the best wearing tires out there if properly balanced and rotated. My only gripe is their sidewalls tear like toilet paper
  3. Be safe , and God Bless..... My prayers are with you.
  4. True, but bracket racing levels the playing field for racers. you won't always see cubic dollars win over skill or lack of funding
  5. When I did my LA install I went with Terra flexes upgrade kit... every one bashed it cause of its design and the fact that it is a parrallel 4 link setup, and not a radias arm style. Granted it might not droop as well, but it flexes well for what it is. I did a lot of experimenting on my rig while building it. PPl who have been coming around MJ boards know this. I have run a few different setups, and have always given an unbias experience based review. I still say RE DB's are the way to go unless you build a full out custom 4 link. By the DB's a coil of your choice along with RE's HD trac bar set up, add a set of DT 3000 shocks, and a set of chevy drop shackles to the rear, and you are golden. I ran this setup with Rusty's 6.5 coils, and loved it
  6. I ran 35's with 6.5 and could have gone taller with some more bumpstopping. I was not afraid to trim though
  7. There are 2 ways of doing it.... One involves cutting the ends of the condensor off and buying hydraulic fittingsand reflaring the end... the other is finding the correct AN fitting, and making an AN line up to connect to the tranny
  8. I have found this out cause I looked at a bunch of 4.3's before I bought the one I have now, and it seems like it is a problem across GM's line of v-6's. You still can't beat the bang for the buck... Once you change to a quality aftermarket set of gaskets no issues.... Go figure
  9. They are the same bolt pattern as well....
  10. Not put a dent in your rig while wheeling :hmm: :rotfl2: You must not have taken the right line :driving:
  11. Also keep in mind that these vehicles are at least 15 yrs old and if you want a new looking or smelling ride stay away. Even if yo find one in exceptional condition there still can be issues. Age does take a toll on things
  12. no they still havent gotten it right. Well at least as far as I am concerned. My wifes alero (FWD car) has had the eninge gone through twice under warranty for some of the same problems that plaqued the early 2.8's. Mainly the manifold gasket leaking, thus causing it to run hot, then causing problems with the head. When will GM learn that cast iron and aluminum don't mix, unless you can isolate the metals better. BTW this is also a problem on the 4.3's
  13. All they are trying to do is bracket race. Bracket racing is awesome casue you have to run your dial in, and a lot is to be said for a properly set up car that runs the same number run after run. Anyone with deep pockets can make a car run fast for one pass, but to make a car run consistantly takes a lil skill and dep pockets
  14. if your stock mech fan, and electric fan were not cooling your rig right you have other problems. :brows: A/C condensors make great tranny coolers  Just flush it real good, and change the fittings :D
  15. alsoone says sport.. and the other eliminator :nanner:
  16. soa in the rear is as simple as welding on some spring perches. You wil have to set your pinion angle correctly, but thats not too hard. You might run into some problems with the way the shocks are mounted, but I t can be solved with some tinkering. For the front. You are looking at alot of work to make it work right. Either Drop brackets or long arms so you can position your front axle in the center of the wheel opening. don't forget about a adjustable trac bar. Since you are not worried about it being street legal hack the crap out of it and clear it wit 3"
  17. also depending on how it mounts... you might have to cut the cab mount to install the bracket. I know I had to to install my LA's
  18. I am just trying to keep up with some of the rigs in my club  There will be 2 groups on this run. one group is heading for lower 2 and guardrail right out the gate... while I think the smaller rigs will be heading to some of the easier trails
  19. The club I belong to is making a run here Motherday weekend. We will be staying at Crawfords. The trip is auctually may 9-13, but some of us will be heading up there on tues, and wheeling all week if interested contact me, and I will get you more info

    wow.....

no it doesn't cause these are the idiots that have no clue on how to wrench on their crap. I have run into this situation when I was a Tellico 2 yrs ago. the group I was with spent 3 hrs fixing a XJ that the guy used schedule 40 poo pipe for link material. Needless to say cast steel didnt hold well to his ends( which were tractor ends) and we ended up having to sleeve it for him to get him out of the way, so we could wheel. Here is the kicker... after we fixed him, he wanted to wheel with us... we told him that it was a temp fix, and he better get his rig off the trail before he gets broken and unable to fix it for good
  21. Couple observations.... Look at the pics of his LCA mounts  also look at the pic with the coolant turtle... notice it is empty :???: Although cool I would stay away from it like a hooker with aids
  22. The only real cool thing about this lil deisel is the amazing gas mileage. I think it was estimated at 30+ back in the mid 80's.
  23. my thoughts are you get what you pay for
  24. I had to cut mine a lil tooo. :smart: but keep in mind not all tires are the advertised hieght. so try and tell us what brand of tires you are going to use, then we might have a better idea of what you might need to do. But for in order for there to be no cutting.. I would say long arms, and new leafs in the rear.
  25. no that just means I have to order chromo parts for them :nanner:
