  1. I had/have a big problem with Pong after I went bedless with the rear end not compressing fully, due to lack of weight. Thats why I am just going to link it, and use air shocks. Much easier then trying to remove leafs, build anti-wrap bar, and keep trying to get the sring rate right.
  2. The ones on the 3/4 tons use the same brake parts as the d60. I have never heard of them being classed as "weak" though.
  3. When I put the PRP seats in Pong we just built custom frame using some tabs, and some L brackets from Home depot and some tubing. Works great fro a fixed position seat. I guess we could have set it up for sliders, but there was no point as I will be the only driver
  4. Go find you a 79 Ford 3/4 ton and grab both axles.... They are full width, and the passenger side can be machined for hi-steer, and if you were closer I could sell you a matched set. d44 and a d60 with all the stuff to hook it up
  5. Just spray it down with some break cleaner, and use air to blow the residue and other crap out the way. I would use some 6013 or 6010 and burn it in good.
  6. You can take a seal and install it in the outer portion of the VD housing. If I am not mistaken the part number is CR138961..... and I got it from napa. I will double check it, as this is the seal I used in Pong whendoing the conversion.... before I bent that axle
  7. I used some grade 20 allen heads from work lats time I needed centering bolts. Itsd great working in a Papermill.... all the hardware is beefy as hell
  8. One of the guys in the club finally did a write up on swapping a Np435 in behind a 2.5 so I figured I would post the link for you guys http://mpjai.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6021
  9. If you are thinking about a spool for it just Lincoln Lock it and call it good. Don't forget to buy the sticker off of E-b1y as well :D
  10. Good job What did you get for winning... a sticker :D
  11. With a bill of sale you can go to dmv and find out why the guy didnt have a title to begin with. Most of the times there are liens, and they can be cleared up most of the time with very lil head ache. Worst case scenario.. the car was reported stolen, then you posses stolen goods and could possibly go to jail, this is why you don't buy a vehicle with out a title, the bill of sale possibly could stop that from happening if you got the guys address and drivers license number, or a photo copy of his state issued ID. Just some things to think about before you do something illegal.
  12. I think your plan is solid. I didnt see what size tires you plan on running? Also how do you plan on swithching the 76 front end over to disc brakes? The 9" is easy there are a million different kits to do that, and most run in the low 300's. The spool in the front is deffinately a bad idea..... especially with stock shafts. For alil bit more you can buy a lunch box locker and call it good. Speeols cause funny handling on the trail especially in the front. Also sounds like you are throwing lots of money at your rig... Hope you plan on keeping it for a while
  13. I got mine from the dealership. I think they were around 6 bucks for 4, I ordered 2 sets, that way I had a spare set. If you wheel in rocks expect to tear them up... I know I did
  14. MAN... do you realize what you ar thinking about doing is highly illegal. Iti salso illegal in most states to sell a vehicle with out a title. Just a heads up on that. If you have a bill of sale there is no reason why the state police or DMV wil not issue you a salvage or scrap title which means you can title it. Getting caught switching VIn plates, can lead to some serious charges.
  15. thats why my rig looks the way it does to be different. If I wanted to look like everyone else I would have built a TJ or a YJ :brows:
  16. You can adapt the manula benders to use a hydraulic jack on.. just takes a lil thinking. Local guy did it on his.

    pong

Thats one of my favorite stomping grounds.... Just havent made it there iN a while. Alot of the guys in the pics are local club members. That place is sick, and I recommend everyone go there at least once. Heather and Chris (the ppl who run the place) are supper nice ppl. Heck that is where we installed my lincoln locker back in Nov 05 :D
  18. at 25 and 40 bucks a piece I think you can find a nice aftermarket shock that would give you a better set up if you wheel your rig. I had 6.5" of lift an dup front I used 26" extended DT 3000 shocks with bayonet eliminators. Worked great, I also used custom brake lines from Crown. I think they were 20" long, and myt shock reached full extenx sion long befor emy brake hose
  19. I ran the 8.8 in Pong for a while, and the axle is a pure beast and can withstand lots of abuse. Only problems are you need to weld the tubes to the pumpkin, and get a beffy diff cover cause the stock one is crap.
  20. CJ8 also demand ridiculous prices... I have seen basket case with a good VIN tag and title seel for 1500 cause some one wanted a title to one.... Most fo the differences between the early and late model CJ's were cosmetic and emisions equipment. Some also had wide trac axles, and engine choices varied.
  21. Prime example of this is going on at work. We run low sulfur coal in our power boilers, and we have 2 main suppliers. Well they sent us some coal that must ahve came from a strip mine cause the size of the coal was 4+" square (sontracts specs nothing bigger the 2" square) They ship 80+ cars with out of spec coal. The comapny I work and the supplier came to a settlement.... The supplier will pay for all labor to sort the coal ( we hand sorted coal and rocks for 3 days) then they brought in machinery to do this. We will continue to run coal this way until they install a coal crusher in our conveyor sytem. The equipment rental to sort the coal is roughly 500 bucks an hour (including operator) We have sorted through 10 cars in 4 days... and I have worked 24 hrs so far this week, and I am schedule to work 60 more before next Sunday.... You can't tell me it wouldnt have been cheaper to refuse shipment and to but the coal from another supplier
  22. I am going to miss that place... A bunch of the local guys were going to go there to conquer death valley and a few other of the nasteir trails.. guess not now. BTW cool pics
  23. Use full size chevy drop shackles. They measure 8 3/4 inches eye to eye, and ride decent. Only problem is they change the pinion angle, and rotate the axle foward
  24. I shortened my WB to 113" which is pretty good for how I wheel, and that was with 35's, now I am to 42's and moving my front axle out and and th3 back out some, but I will be changing and there will be appropriate changes to my tubing. Points to consider when flatbedding or making a truggy... When you chop it.. Plate the old frame rails up, and make a lot of weldable surface to attatch The tubing too. Its easier to 4 link it then it is to keep your leafs its easier and cheaper to put a fuel cell and after market pump on then it is to adapt a stock tank There is a ground wire located in the drivers side tail light that makes it a PITA to pull the bed. There are 8 bolts that hold the bed on.
  25. Remember cashing the check or accepting the settlement will void your rights to any other proceedings ( at least that is what I seen on a court show)
