  1. This is very true, and I must say they have covered an East coast event in both of the last 2 issues. Big Dogs last Month, and the run in this months issue in NH.
  2. He also posted this on MPJAI. He sells a lot of parts on the web. i have bought one or two things from him.
  3. Rear axle if it is in "good" shape 150.. front axle if inn good usable condition 250. By usable I mean brakes are good, as well as steering parts. Keep in mind these will be 8 lug axles. If the rear axle's brakes are bad... it will be cheaper to convert to discs. The f250 axle was different then the f150 axle as far as axleshafts go. gearing will be more then likely 3.54 so plan on regearing. These are just about as bolt up as you can get for a YJ. Steering mods and rear spring perches have to be changed, but just about a bolt up proposition. If you have any more questions ask. Also if it has a NP435 give 150 for it. Especially if you want a good crawling trans. AA sells a kit to adapt it to the 2.5/4.0 as well as the np231. I have stripped more then 1 ford in my back yard. Ask jeff what I can make a f100 look like in a days time.
  4. I know a owner of a crusshing yard, and I asked him why he wasnt going to get any C4C cars. He told me that if you don't dispose of C4C cars in a certain amount of time you were responsible to repay the rebate the buyer got. Since this yard wasnt a pick a part yard he makes most of his money buy selling trans and engines. Since engine are no good... there wasnt enough left profit wise for it to be worth it for him. IN a local PNP there was a 24v CTD 1 ton truck, as well as a 01 tj Sahara. Both were pretty much stripped of everything but motor.
  5. I have been a subscriber to Crawl since Issue one. For a trail rig that MJ is super clean. I really hope that crawl keeps up the good work, I like the new format much better then the old one. I just hope they keep the eye on the prize and keep up the quality content. Just wish there was more right coast coverage.
  6. Must agree with Pete on Motor choice. At the same time if the trans is a NP435 you can bolt that too the 2.5 with a kit from AA. Heck even if it is the T18 with a moddified CJ bell housing you can bolt it to the ti5 as well.
  7. There is a comanche on the back cover of it... it is super clean. Was wondering if he is a club member?
  8. WOW i must have really missed something around here in my absence.
  9. I would buy the frame brackets and build my own links. This setup still uses a trac bar, so there will still be the limiting factor of the trac bar. This can be easily over come by relocating the tb mount. Personally I am running one of the RK 3 link setups, and it just flat out works. It is also half the price of the PP kit, and is basically the same thing, just midding one link and a mount. The PP mounts look beefier though.
  10. I would run some quality 90w oil. After initial break in.. I would change to synthetic, if you don't play in the mud or water. If you play in mud and water, I would just run regular 90w cause you wil be changing it often.
  11. My question is where did you measure your caster? As CW pointed out.. thats the proper way to measure it.
  12. Motor and trans swaps are common on Scouts. The IH motors don't stand being beat on but so much, they were worse then AMC motors about oiling. That being said that Scout would make a great Krawler, or base for one. The frames came fully boxed from the factory, had removable trans tunnel covers. From the looks of it the body is in good shape, which is the only real issue with IH products... they rust like 80 yota's. I would offer way less for the whole rig, and build a crawler. Find a chevy1/2 or 3/4 ton, use a np241 or np208 t-case, and put a cage in it. Dove tail front and rear, shackle reversal upfront... cut to clear some 40 KM2's and wheel.
  13. The only trouble I had with mine ewas it would pop out of reverse. it was also loud.... sounded like it was grinding rocks.
  14. Yeah removing the Map sensor might be a good idea... it can hold up the removal of an engine. I know when we did my 2.5 swap we did it all as one piece. Made it real easy to do.
  15. Thats a normal price for a good useable axle. That axle is sitting in the dirt, and appears to have mold/moss growing on it. To me that means it has been sitting outside for a while.
  16. My big rub aboout the situation was the drive to and from the hospital to see a resident. 2.5 hr ride each way to see a resident who didnt want to answer my questions or didnt know the answers.. not sure which. I know the hospital where the surgery was done is a DR teaching hospital, but when the attending surgeon did the operation I would like him to do my follow up, or at least the resident who was treating me in the hospital that was walking around with the attending. Not some resident I never saw or talked to.

    Project truck

The Fc's are awesome. Put some full widths under it with a healthy V-8 and prepare to be watched.
  18. Thats way high for that axle. I can see if it was built, or refurbished. For a stock axle in the condition it appears to be in.. I wouold say 700 tops.
  19. To me the easiest way to do it is the way Mjeff87 on here helped me do the swap of engine and trans in my 90. Basically we pulled the whole drivetrain as one item. It was a bit of work disconnecting everything, but you are going to have to do it anyways to do it right. 1. Un bolt header panel. 2. Drain radiator and remove, unbolt battery and remove. 3. disconnect t-case linkage, cross member. and driveshafts 4. remove powersteering hoses. 5. remove ground wires from body. 6. Disconnect wiring from power distrubution center 7.Unbolt motor mounts. 8.hook up chains to the block. 9.Jack motor up. 10. As you jack the motor up, you start pushing vehicle back watching for hang ups. I am sure I am forgetting a few steps. Jeff derrick and I did this swap in 6 hrs and had a running jeep when done. Jeff was the brains behind it though. As he did the swap on his rig.
  20. I know when I had a bed on my Truggy my rig had a 53" driveshaft. The rig was a 4.0w/aw4 np231w/sye and 8.8.
  21. ON the brakes sides of things, I would swap in a Xj prop valve as well as you a zj spinr in the front of prop valve. I did this when I swapped disc brakes on MY d44. On the left you will see a zj prop spring with disc brakes. ON the right is the xj drum brakes
  22. I can't speak about where you live, but I can speak about where I live. It is illegal to sell a vehicle with out a title IN VA. By that I mean the title in your name. Also it is illegal to tamper with vin Plates. Not sure what the penalties are.. sure it isnt good. I would definately contact state police to find out what you have to do to get a legit title.
  23. Well yesterday I wnet back to UVA to see my surgeon for my 2 week follow up. I get there and I am told that the DR. that did my surgery is out of country and I wil be seeing one of his residents. :???: So I say ok whatever, I just drove 2/5 hrs to see a resident. They wheel me to the back, so I can get x-rays taken. A receptionist comes over to where they put me and hands me some paperwork to fill out. I was like cool especially since I am non mobile and have my crutches, and am in a wheelchair. Well I fil out the papers, and she totally forgot about me, and my paperwork. Luckily there was a nice gentleman in the waiting area, who took my papers up to the receptionist. After that, I was wheeled to the back for my x-rays. Well back in x-rays, they manipulated my left foot. No big deal. Well now we go onto my right leg. WOW... is all I have to say. They removed my leg brace, and had me position my leg in all kinds of postions. Talk about inflicting pain on me. Now I am waiting on the resident DR to see me. He came into the room inspected surgery site. He says I am doing well and sends a cast tech in to pull my staples. :???: I ask the tech a few questions and he says he will send the dr back in to answer my questions. Twenty minutes later the dr comes back answers my basic questions, writes me some pain pill scripts, and then discharges me. @.5 hours of riding for something a doc in the box could have done.

    Damnit

That sucks dude. I have been in a similiar situation before. I live in an upstairs apartment, and the land lady had the house for sale. Well after she collected the next months rent, she told me 2 days later that I had till the end of the month to get out, and this was in December. I pointed out to the owner that I had a sixty day clause in my lease and told her whay she was doing was illegal. Long story short I found a place to live, and she refunded december's rent to insure I was out that month.
  25. Personally I would like to use a 2dr XJ for the front, and then graft the rear of a MJ onto it. I know ppl say the 2dr and 4 dr are the same but the longer doors on the front would look nice.
