  1. I am home now. I spent 8 days in UVA Medical center, then I went to a rehab facility. I was suppose to be at the rehab center for 7 days, but after 5 days my insurance company denied further payment cause I had met my clinical goals. So now I am at home doing therapy at home 3 times a week. the sad part is my copay after 4 visits is more then it would be for me to be hospitilized, and the therapy I get at home last about 1 hr, where as I was getting 3+ hrs a day as an inpatient.
  2. Think some one spent some time buying military surplus crap and bolting it on to the jeep.
  3. Even if you had a 4.2, it doesnt make sense. Especially since the later HO engines head flow better and is actually a popular swap onto the 4.2 block, suppose to be worth like 10 hp if i remember right.
  4. Thanks guys. Joe.. we just need to find an online chess site that we can play ech other on. Hrck I am rusty as hell when it comes to chess... I bet I havent played in a yr or two now.
  5. Basically this jeep is aimed to a museum piece. It is not meant to be titled/driven. I bet if it was listed at Barret Jackson's auction it would fetch more then that considering how "rare" it is. As for me.. no jeep out there is worth more then 1500 bucks. All I do with them is drive them and wheel them.. no need for me to find a clean example of a jeep.
  6. It says it is missing the harness and comp. To me that is the most important part of the sysytem. To be honest you can find a wrecked 92 and newer xj to pull the fuel injection setup for around that price, and that would be the way I would go. That way you can also update your interior harness if you want.
  7. Well Halloween weekend the local club I belong to had its 2nd Annual Punkin run. Last yr this was a blast, and this yr we added another wheeling location. So I took some time off. I arrived thursday afternoon early so I could set up camp. Once camp was set... the adult beverages started to flow. We drank into the wee hrs of the night. We quit drinking around 2:30 in the morning. Well we got a late start Friday. most of the ppl finally got up around 9am. after making some breakfast, and getting camp straight we ended up heading over to Crozet. Man had this place changed since the last time I was there. Once we all got registered, and got a map of the place we went out for some turner trails. While unloading the trailer, my hood would not open. Well while removing parts to open the hood, my aux fan/cb wiring harness caught fire. Well I pulled the hood and front grille and decided I was going to wheel it like it was. We ran low blues, and had a blast. We did run one or two cool obstacles. Pete's demise and PUSI hill were the high lights of the day. After wheeling for 3 to 4 hours we decided to pack it up because no one had broke, and it was starting to get late. Once back at camp, we started to cook some grub, and drink some adult beverages. Well the camp ground was having a Live band and free food. well here is where things went wrong. I ended up getting ejected from a golf cart, and sustained some serious injuries. I ended up breaking my right tibial plateau, and my left 5th metarsoul(sp). That monday I underwent open reduction of my right leg fracture. So now I am out of the game for another 6 weeks minimum. Un fortunately not many videos or pictures were taken of my rig, as mot of the obstacles we wheeled the first day I walked right up under a minute.
  8. To me the 4 popper is almost the way to go cause of the price and availabilty. If you are worried aout the trans holding up, you can always swap in a stronger one, same goes for a MJ with a BA/10. I would almost rather swaps trans then do a motor swap. Also the 4 poppers lend themselves to v-8 swaps easier.. Less crap to pull out.
  9. If it insludes shifter and bellhousingand shift fork... otherwise you can spend some cash on that stuff
  10. Its a 5spd.. and yes the wifey can drive a manual trans. One of the first things I taught her when we started dating. ON a side note.. MY speedo is off 10mph at 45. I guess the 265's make the jeep go faster.
  11. Maybe it is just me.. or I live in a really cheap area... most of the time they go for around 150 in my area.
  12. I am currently driving a 4cyl that had a 4spd, but now has a 5spd. It is peppy till you get to high way speed and start hitting hills. Not bad though. As pointed out they make a good DD. If the price was right... and the body was in good shape I would by another 4popper
  13. Wifey actually commented on the running jeep. She asked me if she could borrow the lil pickup for the church fall festival
  14. Isn't that one of the signs of the Apocolypse?? :D Bet your wife is happy...... It very well could be a sign. She hasnt said much about it either way. I kinda think she still wants me to sell it.
  15. Your Ax 15 should be 23 splines. If you do just buy the bellhousing you will also need the front part of the trans where the throw out bearing rides. Also you will need to either buy the clutchmaster/slave kit with the hose included, or deal with the hose issue. I just did this swap. I ended up using my stock master, and external slave from a 96xj. I also used the Advance adpaters hose kit. Works like a champ.
  16. I say wheel the Manual. I have wheeled both. The aw4 does have some advanteages, but I feel I have more control with the manual. One you have a ton more compresion braking, also you can add a hand throttle to give you the added 2 foot driving need. IF I was going to swap out a trans though, and could find a NP435 and had some spare cash.. I would definately do this swap, if it was a rock only rig.
  17. I know a buddy who has a ZJ with one of them dang d44a's. He has the 5.9 zj, and wheels of 35's with no issues. Not saying that this is the strongest axle.. just saying it works. If the gear ratio matched a rig I had, I would run it, but like pointed out.. Build a stout truss, that incorparates the punkin using the diff cover and call it good. I mean what do you have to loose.
  18. Well now the Jeep is official able to be called a driver. Fixed the charging issue... the battery was bad. Went and had the exhaust leak fixed, and got a state safety inspection done on it. Now I am officially driving a street legal jeep again :clapping:
  19. He sure can. He is good at that meticulous stuff. I am the kind of guy that likes to muscle stuff into place. OH and yes that is his old motor/trans
  20. What you will need totally depends on what kind of lift you do upfront. For the rear you will need Perches shocks Depending on intended purpose new flex line Front... Drop brackets and stock uppers and lowers work great for 6.5" of lift :brows: Then use a HD trac bar and mount ( I used Re's) For shocks get some DT 3000's in the 26" expanded. some jks bayonet eliminators 26" long brake lines This setup will give you perfect caster angle using stock shims. Just remember to limit your up and down travel
  21. We swapped another 2.5/ax5. It had a 2.5 in it, but it smoked bad, and had a bunch of oil leaks. It also had an AX4. so upgraded to an ax5, and a no leak engine. Yeah a few beers got drank... The 6 hrs part was awesome though. When we were almost done.. everyone had medium rare NY strips and some killer baked potatoes. Heck if the guys wanted Lobster tails and oysters.. I would have got them for them.
  22. I say if it is rusty cut it out and weld some expanded metal for floor, or put bigger tires in place if it is fenders. for rockers get some 1/8 or 3/16 and make some nice rocker panels. Lets face it.. unless you have an ultra rare MJ, with extremely low miles... these things really are not worth that much money to invest in doing loads of body work.
  23. I have to give Jeff props on how fast it took. He knew what had to be done in what order. IT really helped that we pulled it as one whole unit. Didnt really have to fight any of the stuff in tight areas. ALso made it nice that the donor motor was pulled right, and all the harness and stuff was unmolested. There were a few differences between the 87 and 90 wiring that made final hook up and start up interesting
  24. TO me TNT makes some really nice stuff, but there system is bascially a radias arm setup. It has some unique steering and handling quirks. I personally run the RK 3 link setup. Love it, and it flexes like mad, and is very predictable if you ask me. As for a belly skid.. BUild one for the RK setup.. and would be easier to mod later on.
  25. YOu might want to check to see what the price difference is between a reman crank, and just your bearings is. When I did one on Pong a fw yrs ago for like 25 bucks plus core I could get a reground crank. To me it was worth a new crank and bearings. As for Cam bearings Unless you disassemble whole motor.. you won't get them out. Also need a special tool to do it.
