I have akways thought that AMC was behind the power curve with vehicles. If they would have built them... ppl would have bought them. Look at us with our "car trucks".

Like title says looking for a set of WJ knuckles and calipers. Cheaper the better.

MJ Rear Bumper Reviews...

Glad this thread was brought back from dead.... It is nice to point out that JCR has been supporting this forum as well as our bastard vehicles for a while now. -
The discs brakes will work on a d44. keep the axle just for the disc brake parts. It is a steal.

Aftermarket Axle Shafts - Your Opinions
pingpong replied to 500 MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I am running some Older Alloy USA's, and that is why I voted for them. I was unaware of all that info. THat being said I have been running theses shafts now going on 3 yrs. Zero issues. The yukon alloys I had in Pong made me sell those axles. I broke an inner short side at paragon. The worst part about it, is I broke the shaft in the splines, which meant disaasembly of the axle. I reall y like them RCV shafts.... they will probrbab;ly go in the d44 that I am building in the turd. -
88 dana 44 disc brake conversion (HELP)
pingpong replied to misterroadman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is a TJ rubicon plate next to a D44 xj plate. Here the parts are mocked up before I press the bearings and all the other stuff together. I also took a zj disc brake prop vale spring and swapped it into the xj prop vale. The zj prop valve is the shorter of the two. -
WOW talk about a HERO. Thanks for posting

I want to see if the deals actually closes. I have had situations on flea bay where the owner of an object, had a friend bid an item up... then when I finally stop bidding and auction closes owner offering for my last high bid.... I promptly reported seller. Thats why I don't like flea bay

88 dana 44 disc brake conversion (HELP)
pingpong replied to misterroadman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Crown vic brakes are close to a direct swap once you add a spacer. I am sure there are lots of writeups on JF or Naxja. I did the brake swap by using ZJ disc brakes. To do this you have to have the center hole machined out so the oil seal will pass through. It has to be machined out 3/32 or so. Then you have to have the backing plate redrilled. I also used TJ d44 retaining plated and had them redrilled fot the xjd44. all told my machine work was around 150. During assembly there is barely enough threads on the retaining studs to get the retaining plate and everything tightened up. -
MIne had the same symptoms, ended up being a dry rotted fuel line on the fuel pump

I agree with what DJM said. I call it the Walmartification of America. Wal mart says said item is only worth 1.00 and now everyone expects to pay one dollar. Then they lower their price agin to .79 cents. Ultimately forcing the mom and pop grocery stores out, and putting the squeeze on other large grocery chains. All while forcing ppl to work for a lil more then minimum wage, and then taking most of their wages for health insurance. Back onto the car shows. I think some of them have done more of a disservice to the 4x4 community then they care to admit. I also think when you have skills and budget ou can make building the space shuttle look easy. and if you look at some of the unfinished rigs coming available you see tons of booty fab, cause they made it look easy on TV.

When you get back oout this way jeff, I plan on giving you my small flux core welder.. as I will be getting a new one
-
For a cheaper welder I think this will be a good one. I don't know of anyone who owns this yet, but I think I will be buying one. I kinda like having the ability to switch processes. Duty cycle is on par with other machines in the price range. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/ ... _200395739 Also if you wait you can find them with free shipping, and wait a lil longer price will drop. Price just went up some, which I believe is due to tax season being upon us.

I really don't know what the 4x4 shows are thinking by pimping Rusty's stuff. I guess if you have a TV show and are looking for free stuff, you look at the beginer market to get parts. Since Rusty's and Rough country are what I would consider beginer level parts.. that is wher they get stuff from. I am more disappointed that Extreme and other shows pimp Ballastic fab stuff. I have only had 2 dealings with them, and both were bad. Parts were 6 weeks getting to me, when they billed my card the same day I ordered :???: And then I didnt get everything that was ordered, more time to get stuff. Ballastic is one of the big dawgs in the fab arena, but their customer service and shipping is way worse then Rusty's ever th9ught of being.

Isuzu used a d44 and shared the chvy bolt pattern if I remember right

4x4 Conversion, dead in the water. HELP!

Just get a hybrid u-joint. More then likely it is a 1350, and you have a 1310 if the driveshaft is stock. Measure the yoke. -
Wanting metal Tail light boxes? Possible group buy?
pingpong replied to brimy311's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I hope they don't put any on, actually...mine are going in my rear bumper. i beleive they stated that you would provide the lights, they just cut the holes, so you can make them whatever you want to be  see: "So what am I getting at? I am considering developing HD Tail light boxes for MJ's and doing a group buy on them. Price wise, you would be looking around $145 for a pair (you source the lights)." -brimy311, first post i know that. I'm talking about reverse lights. I don't want provisions for them. If the provisions are there, you can always weld a patch in if you don't want them. I know speaking from experience to pass safety inspection you have to have them if vehicle was equipeed from the factory with them. -

Not sure how many you were looking for... but thats ten -
I would say that is not good.

Now since you got the d44.. start looking for crown vic disc brakes, or zj brakes. Zj brakes require lots more work, but are doable. As for perches, unless y9ou are going to make your own, I suggest Mopar leaf spring perches.
