  1. I think DirtyComanche did that on his. There are many advantages to moving your rad in the back.... mostly shortening the front/ moving the axle way forward. I suggest you get two BIG Spal fans and that should cool it fine.
  2. Well it appears that the rust on the alt is causing it not to work  If you alt is hitting your rear tow hook bolt... you might have bad motor mounts

    Comanche video

ON ledges like that is where a good stable/predictable suspension comes in handy. Also knowing when to hit the skinny pedal too :brows:
  4. OK a 92 xj in running condition sells for around 1500 around here. Factor in it needs 50 bucks worth of sand paper and paint.. I would question about the cage.. how it was built and what it was built out of. I say no more then 1500

I thought when he went down that ledge was pretty cool. I bet the pucker factor was high. I don't know if that was legal wheeling.. but In Novia Scotia they might do things differently
  6. I have used Shackles to provide lift, and extra suspension travel. My favorite one to use is a Chevy drop shackle. That being said.. what a shackle lift does is move your pinion angle as pointed out, but it also moves the front edge of the tire closer to the wheel opening, Not really a good thing unless you have trimmed them, or plan on doing that
  7. No big deal.. As jeepers and avid outdoorsman, we all ready have to many sterotypes to overcome. Those pictures just perpetuate the myth, along with the drunk kids giving the 1 finger salute don't get me wrong.. I am all about doing some crazy stuff when I am half tight.. but at least remove the beercans, and keep the hand gestures to a minumum. Instead of crawling on it.. build a ramp and jump it by pulling it with a rope. NOW that would be fun

    WI emission laws

Where I live we only have a Safety Inspection each yr.. which is slatted to go to every 2 yrs. I see emmisions testing coming to where I live though, due to the traffic congestion.
  9. It would have been better to have made a video of a jeep crawling on top of it. The pictures do make you and your friends seem like a bunch of drunk rednecks.
  10. I was going to suggest the napa set as well.
  11. When I bought my chevy truck, after about a month I carried it down to the Line-X place. They quoted me 2 different prices.. one for over the rail... and one for under. They also explained to me that paint peeling especially if the paint isnt "cured" is possible. Speaking form what lil experience I have at body work, and painting vehicles.. Paint normally isnt considered cured for 6-12 months depending on what process is used
  12. Before I truggy'd Pong, I experienced spring wrap with brand new Alcans. I think the key to not experiencing it is to leave the skinny pedal alone... especially in high traction low momentum situations. For the most part the Only time I experienced it was when I was trying to go up steep slick rocks
  13. I was in the Army from Sept 91 to Sept 95. MY mos was 31M107A which was Mutli-Channel Radio System Operator/Repairman with the ASI of 7A which was for MultiChannel Tactical Satallite System operator/Repairman. MY job was basically to provide a commo link for ppl to talk over.. So AT&T inb the jungle. I was stationed at Fort Clayton Republic of Panama :D I spent 8 months in Fort gordon learning my job.. just to find out that when I got to my duty station.. they had none of the equipment I was trained on  after some OJT I was squared away :brows: While stationed there.. I went to some cool places and did some awesome crap. I got out as an SPC(P) after 4 yrs.. the sad thing was.. all I had to do was extend and go to PLDC an I would have pinned my SGT. Only reason I got out is the wanted me to go back to school cause they phased my MOS out.. which meant going back to FT gordon (Agusta GA.) for 52 weeks. Not what I wanted to do after 4 yrs of service with 26 months of that being deployed supporting missions.
  14. Not to bash your idea.. but that was one of the things that drove me away from JF. It was a popularity contest. Most of the rigs.. if not all were posed and never abused like a Jeep should be. Hell I was beaten 2 months in a row.. by a rig with no tow hooks :huh???:
  15. I am glad some one brought this up... I just acquired a 258 donor.. and needless to say I have a few 4.0's around.. and a late model FI setup sitting around too.. Might be time for me to build one as well  Seriously.. go to your local drag strip or dirt track and find out who they use as a machine shop. Then go talk to them. If you have the tools, and can follow torque specs, You can assemble a motor. In my area to have a shop assemble a motor.. expect to pay 350-500  Lat time I had a motor bored over it was 13 bucks a cylinder.. now I believe the going rate is close to 20  Shaving heads .020 was 75 a set. Now I think it is considerably more. My point being talk to the machinist... bring your info with you, and discuss what you want. A guy in the club did one.. he was 2300 in the hole by the time his motor was done  which is a lot of cash to spend on a 6 banger
  16. I am stripping my 91xj at the moment. If you are careful and you split the tape that holds the wiring loom in place you will see that you can totallty seperate the Mopar FI set up from the wiring harness. it is a PITA, but it can be done. WHen I truggy'd Pong.. I remember ther being a difference in fuel pump pressure and 2 pumnps being available... not sure if that is a change from the early 4.0... or when they changed again later in the late 90's(just something to think about).
  17. Yj leafs are not long enough.. you would have top move your rear shackle location.. XJ leaves are shorter.. and flat. IN the order of leaf lengths.. its yj then xj.. then FSJ waggy, then MJ, at least as far as Jeep leafs go. Look at some Yota front leafs... don't know the length or arch though
  18. If you want to put a stroker in your Tj, order one from Golen/Titan, pay a shop to swap it. While keeping your MJ on the road. Once the TJ is back road worthy, swap the Long block back into the MJ. The reason why I say the long is the intake/Throttle body is different from the older renix style. AS far as wether or not your are capable of doing it yourself.. if you can read a tech/fsm manual, and have a decent selection of tools, and patients.. I am sure you can. Tech manuals go step by step. IF it was me doing it...I would go down to the junkyard, and have them pull an early 90's tbi 350, with the wiring harness and comp, as well as the transmision. Then pay a shop to put that in your tj, then swap all of the Tj's stuff into your mj
  19. Have your alingment checked.. also could be if you lifted your rig recently, your pinion angle is off. Lastly you could have something bent under there and that would do it too
  20. There is a guy in our local club running the Jacobs system... but thats all I know about his setup. I always wondered why ppl never used a MSD box on their stuff... but never gave it much thought.
  21. if you look at my webshots link .... you can find all different hieght lifts on mj's and xj's. I think the only rig I have with an "actual 4.5" lift is the tan xj.. but you will get the picture
  22. I hope you go to church this weekend, and share your testimony that your family survived a horrible wreck. Glad to see everyone is all right. Jeeps are replacable, especially a liberty ;)
  23. I actuall y bought mine from advance.. it has a life time warranty.. and was right at 100 bucks... no issues to date with it.
  24. You want to talk about a crapy Friday night. Imagine you are at work... and it is 2:15 and you are suppose to get off at 2:30.. and the person who is suppose to come in, calls in and you are forced to stay till 10:30. Did I mention it was in the 80's and you forgot your sun block and have a nice sun burn. That might not seem bad to some of you all.. but working 16 hrs driving a fork truck unloading trailers of card board ( bales of cardboard you see behind stores). Did I mention you are expected to unload them in less then 20 minutes a piece.
  25. I had a company I ordered parts from bill me, and it took 6 weeks for me to get the parts... I was pissed, I had paid the credit card off before I even got the parts. Glad to see a vendor make a stand up move like that
