  1. Yeah accordint to that guys post it was pulled cause of a ? with the vin plate. It seems the guy has his paperwork together on it.... now some one who is a jeeper needs to buy this "rare" truck and wheel it
  2. When I had a bed on my rig, I use some 2x2x1/4 angle, alomg with some old sway bar mounts, and some 3" long bolts and made myu own mount. It mounted to the side of the bed. Now my hi-lift stays at the trailer, Some one always has one you can borrow :D
  3. If you are trying to run a fuel cell the MSD fuel pump works great. I know I am runnning it on mine :D BTW the 4.0's could use 2 different pumps from my sources. The later seem to take more fuel pressure. Patrick
  4. I have had bad experiences with Advance, and Napa not honoring their warranties, cause I used said item in a "manner that it was not inteded for". I have tried calling the District manager, and even the regional one, and I get the same answer, or get what did the manager say. Needless to say, I buy use alts, and starters now. BTW did you all know, that jeeps are not meant to be used off road. I was told that by a manager at a napa when I was trying to warranty 3 broken u-joints from one week end of wheeling. Now all I buy is spicer, and they honor their warranty. Patrick
  5. The problem with your theory is.. 1. napa has to have the part you need in stock 2. They have to honor their warranty. Most of the auto parts stores around where I live at won't honor thier warranty more then once. So basically you get one free alt and that is it. Problem there is Napa is almost always 1.5 to 2x higher in price. Also with all the J-yards around my house... alts are 10-15 bucks, and the napa or advance will test them for free. pick one, get it tested, if good keep it, if not go back and get another. Patrick
  6. In my experience, the XJ/MJ alt is in a bad location. On the bottom. the reason why I say by the stock one is cause they are expensive, and Mud/water ruins them quickly. Also overtightening the belt ruins them too. Next time you go to the J-yard pick up a spare for lil or nothing, get it tested (make sure it is good), that way when it craps out and you need one, you have one on hand. Patrick
  7. I did it cause I Initially had a set of xj seats, then I did it this last time cause I wanted a set of suspension seats (PRPseats.com) and I needed a way to mount 5 point harnesses. By far the prp seats are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. To think I almost went with the plactis elchepo racing seats  Patrick
  8. If you have an auto 4.10's will due, but run an aux trans cooler. If you have a manula I stroblgy suggest 4.56's or the 4.88's. Patrick
  9. Problem is when the alternator goes out, all the lil things that draw current slowly kill it. Light (tail light) and the various things like that. Once the battery drops below a certian voltage it doesnt have enoug h juice to power the fuel pump and comp, then your rig slowly sputters and dies. Just go buy another stcok alt, unless your want to spend mega bucks on an alt. Patrick
  10. To clear the 31's you don't need to do anyhting except listen to the rubbing on the LCA's. 4cyl and 6cyl coils are about the same coil rate, might only give you a 1/2" if anything. I didnt know the TJ came with 2 piece shafts  :? If you install the leaf spring perches that will give you roughly 5 to 6" of lift. The acos will not make up that much as far as I know. Personally I wouldn't install a detriot in a d35 unless I had upgraded shafts and a axle truss, but on 31's it might live. Patrick
  11. Kinda looks like a Hanson bumper. Patrick
  12. Nothing really, except it stops working like a limited slip after time. Patrick
  13. measure the spring itself. from center poin forward, and from center pin rearward. tell us that measurement. In order for a spring to give you lift it has to be longer, that is why re-arching springs only last for a lil while. Plus that also changes pinion angles and moves the tire forward. But get us that measurement. patrick
  14. I finally unloaded then from the truck today.. Damn that d60 is heavy  I think I found a d300 shorty for 125 :D Slowly the parts are coming together, maybe by the fall I wuill be ready to complete the transformayion. Patrick
  15. Impossible.. the cabs are made into the frame hence the reason why mj's are unitbody trucks. Patrick
  16. I think you need to measure them along the leafs. I think my Alcans measured 62". I can go check in the morning. I also have my old set of stock leafs sitting behind the garage. I seem to remember them being 57". I wil check tommorow for you guys. Patrick
  17. Well, I think I have my HP44 traded for some chevy outers :D and the FSJ 44 traded for a set of 17" Bead locks  The things ppl will part with when they know you have something. Now I just need to find a d300 :D so I can swap that in with some lomax 4to1 and 32 spline outputs. I think that would complete my rigs transformation. Patrick
  18. Well I was told by a buddy at work to come by his house cause he had an axle I might want. So I took a ride over there, and for a 100 bucks I acquired to axles :D One is nothing special except that it has flat top knuckles, and it appears to be an early FSJ D44. Major thing on this axle was I need a set of flat tops, and it has that  The other axle I wasnt sure about till I got it home. I knew it was a king pin D60 :D just nothing else about it. Well it ends up being a dodge dually d60  After doing a lil research, it can easily be swapped over to the chevy outers, and preform just the same. The D60 is complete from hub to hub, including the calipers, and tie rods and center link. I don't think it was too bad of a find :D Patrick
  19. Dealership, or try a local auto parts store. Pretty eaasy to replace. Slack tensioner, then remove ball, undo brake drum and remove cable from inside. Patrick
  20. My jeep family is down just to my truggy. It is going to take a while to recover from building Pong. Plus LIlpong, was traded for full width axles  kinda help progress the build up a lil more. Now it is off to look at a 100 dollar "HD front axle". If it is what the guy described to me.. iot is a king pin 60 :D

    rollbars ^_^

I have seen a TJ roll on a "Poser Rock" Wasn't preety especially considering no on e in the rig was wearing a seatbelt and nothing was strapped down inside. AS for who needs a roll cage or a roll bar.... Everyone who goes off road needs at the very least a roll bar that is properly mounted. Un fortunately most if not all of us think that our "MJ" has a full roof so we will be all right in a roll. All of this, plus one of the Places I wheel, require you to run a "fully intergrated cage" to run certian obstacles. This is why we built what we did on my truggy. I know it is extreme, but it does look cool. Patrick
  22. Just swap in a nex crank kit for the motor. while you are at it, you might as well do the rings and oil pump. Patrick
  23. I don't go to Rusty's site, but I know you can get a set Of Alcans, or Deavers for just under 400 plus shipping, and the springs are made to your specs, not some generic cookie cutter spec. Patrick
  24. Swap everything from the backing plate outward. That way you can re-use just about everything
  25. It only gets worse tooo. There are 2 cures....One keep building, wheeling, breaking, and building. Keep repeating this till your family members bring you on one of those reality intervention shows, or Take it easy building it, and enjoy the ride to the top. Patrick
