A quarter sized rust hole in the floor fails an inspection? You should move, that's bull.

Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche
Geonovast replied to Alexia's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
This may be a complete shot in the dark, or maybe my brain is tired and overthinking, but if it's misfiring on 1 and 6, I might get 1 and 6 at TDC, pull the CPS, and see if there's anything on the flywheel messing with the CPS on or by the 1-6 pickup windows. -
AFAIK, the AW-4 case shafts were longer, so you should be able to put it on an AX-15 as long as it slides on all the way. The input shaft on the T-case would hit the C-clip for the output shaft's 5th gear if it was too long, but I don't think it will be. Someone else should be able to verify.

The only column I ever did, I slid the shaft off the steering box. It was keyed, so getting the new one in the same spot was no problem. :dunno:

Wrangler cases are clocked differently, but the difference is where the holes are drilled on the trans, not on the case.
-
Just the 242 is well worth the $140. Sounds like a nice score to me.

I also had a similar experience last week. Saw one in town on CL for $1300, was a 91 4.0 lwb, didn't specify trans (I'm not buying another auto), but I felt lucky. Was hoping it was a manual, wanted to go drive it, and nitpick him down to $1000, which I don't think would have been hard. But no, sold it without taking down the ad. :fs1:

Transmission Swap Help, Ba10/5 ->Ax/15
Geonovast replied to mr. trying to fix it's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Count on needing metric and standard tools when doing anything on an MJ. External slave will let you fix any hydraulic issues with the clutch without dropping the trans. You can also buy a master/line/slave setup prebled that you can install after the transmission is in. A large percentage of threads on this forum is for a BA 10/5 to AX-15 conversion, if you go back through the tech section, you should find plenty. If you still have questions, please feel free to ask. -

Cluster can come from a 91 or 92 MJ, or 91-96 XJ. -

What's different about it? It looks right to me. -
91-92 Mj Fuel Gauge Senders
Geonovast replied to Keyav8r's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Given that you are having problems with another gauge, I would pull the cluster and inspect the foil on the back and the connections to the gauges. -
At my last job, some days I was constantly in and out of a giant oven cooking at 160-180. At least it was dry, the whole point of it was to pull water out of styrofoam. You didn't stay in there any longer than you had to.

89 Bobbed Xj Crawler Springfield, Mo
Geonovast replied to Geonovast's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Liberty never came with a 4.0 and has independent front suspension.... they're also newer, so would have cost a lot more to get. -
Just out of curiosity, why don't you want a full cluster?
-
You still need linkages, 4wd handle, linkage brackets, and driveshafts.

Practice! -
Hold up just a bit. Do not get a 91 flywheel. Renix is 87-90. 91 was the first year for the HO. They just took another year to change the pilot bushing. 91 was kind of a stupid year.
-
You are correct, they're not even close to the same.

I'm forcing myself to agree with you there, it was kinda cute. But...

Help With Ac Conversion To 134A
Geonovast replied to rocks91mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Only blowing out of defrost could easily be a cracked connection to the vacuum tank in the bumper, or a the tank itself could be cracked. The main vac line going to the tank runs along the passenger fender. -
One of the things I would do if I won an offensive amount of money would be to build several huge warehouses, then scour the countryside and CL for all those poor XJs and MJs that aren't being driven/cared for, and house them away safely.
-
Just cause we got the XJ, didn't mean I got rid of the MJs... ...at that point, anyway. They did go away for unrelated reasons.
