  1. Very nice score. And yes, go back and get the linkage. You WILL need everything. Might as well grab the oil and temp senders too to go with that cluster.
  2. I'd be willing to pay around $500 for the whole setup if it was in good condition. Why aren't you wanting to rip that pukey out of your truck?
  3. I believe the way Pete wants feedback handled is in the individual threads. If a member is selling something, you buy it, you leave feedback in the original for sale thread. This is why the classifieds aren't locked or deleted once the item is sold.
  4. Not true. 91-92 and some 93 models used long shaft speedo gears; all had electronic speedometers. Also the gears themselves are the same on all. You can swap the shafts between the gears easily. This is because the early electric speedos were just an electronic adapter that attached to the sender the exact same way the cable did. The later ones were integrated, which I believe is when they switched to the short shaft.
  5. That actually has nothing to do with XJ/MJ. That's a whenever-the-hell they decided to put them on thing. My 91 MJ Sportruck with a 2.5 and 4 speed had them. My 91 MJ Pioneer with a 4.0 and 5 speed did not. I don't remember the specifics, but I've had XJs with and without.
  6. The exhaust hanger it part of the tranny mount, not the crossmember though.
  7. You're probably having an issue not because the XJ/MJ crossmembers are different (because they aren't), but because the AX-15's crossmember is different from all the other ones. There are also 6 mounting holes in the frame for the crossmember. You either use the front two and the middle two, or the rear two and the middle two. I don't remember what the BA 10/5 uses, but the AX-15 definitely uses the middle/rear. How much is it off by? Pics?
  8. Here, this might help. Unfortunately I don't know actual tooth counts. 4.0 + 5 speed = 3.07 gears 4.0 + auto = 3.55 gears 2.5 + 5 speed = 4.10 gears 2.5 + 4 speed = 3.55 gears 2.5 + auto = 4.56 or 4.10 There were slight variations on the types of gears used, but I think you'll be fine if it's close in year.
  9. They're swappable, but not the same, as the auto and manual used different axle gearing. If you put a gear out of an auto into a manual, both with factory axles and wheels, your speedometer(and therefore odometer) will be incorrect.
  10. Nice, you snagged one of the 3 MJs in Colorado that isn't in Jim's yard. Looks like a pretty nice rig. Welcome
  11. Nice XJ! Yours?
  12. Should be a manufacture date on the sticker on the driver's side door.. if it's the original door.
  13. I've never seen a vent tube on a 4wd manual trans. :dunno: Is it just the autos?
  14. He said he's looking for a 4wd swap donor, not a 4.0 swap. As long as he's already a 4.0 and keeping the Renix system, it'll be a great donor. It will have literally every part he needs except the rear driveshaft, and he can do the brake booster upgrade as well. Also a good time to swap in that 8.25 (if the XJ has one), since he needs to have a driveshaft made anyway.
  15. Depends on what your truck is now. If you're already a 4.0 and 5 speed, it'd be an excellent donor, I wouldn't hesitate on that. Find out why the rear shaft is out first, though.
  16. I just have my 99 XJ, which should be the same as all HOs, correct? I know the flywheel's the same, but I also know that the connector was changed at least twice. I don't personally own one. The college I attended has quite a few, and may even let me use one, but they're all bench units so it might be interesting, also not USB so no logging on a computer to post it here. I have been trying to find a legitimate reason to talk my boss into buying one for work, but no luck yet.
  17. Clutch pedal in = instant removal of power to the wheels. Getting that pedal in is much easier to react with, and much, much quicker than putting an auto into neutral. Remember, even with your foot off the gas in an auto, there's still a tiny amount of push, not a lot, but it's there. Now, if there was a pedal to kill power to the rear while still giving a little to the front, that would be nice.
  18. It'd be interesting to hook up an oscilloscope to a few of them(that are running perfectly) and see what we got.
  19. There is a difference, although I'm not sure on the break. But using the wrong bearings will offset the rotors and wreak havoc on the brakes... or so I'm told.
  20. That's what he's talking about, you have to drill out the mounting hole on the CPS in order to get it closer. Without modification, there's zero adjustment to the CPS.
  21. AFAIK, none of the Dakota AX-15s used a bell housing compatible with a 4.0. I think what you've been reading up on is referring to putting an AX-15 behind a 2.5 in place of an AX-4/5, which needs a 4 cylinder AX-15 Dakota bell.
  22. I'm driving an auto right now, and I freaking hate it. If I cannot find a 5 speed MJ soon, I'm going to make the XJ a 5 speed, one way or another.
  23. Must be something on his end then that's infecting his posts.
  24. I don't think it's the CPS, since he seems to be getting spark, but just sounds like an incredibly weak spark. I recommend doing the plugs, wires, and cap, as well as checking the condition of the main grounding strap from the back of the head to the firewall. Also never hurts to add the aux ground from the battery to the fender like the HOs got. Just an FYI, but your truck has a 4 speed auto, the AW-4. 4.0 never got a 3 speed auto. Am I the only one seeing his post riddled with links to eBay ads?
