  1. It did. 87-91 and 92+ are different. Changed the same time as the tip of the input shaft. Somebody's gotta have one that will work. It's been quite common for people to put a newer trans with the bigger tip behind an older motor, when people do AX-15 swaps. This is easily fixed with the 74 CJ 304 bearing, which happens to have the correct OD and ID. I do not know of any that will work for the other way around.

  3. 2.5's a 2.5. Just make sure you keep the Renix manifolds, flywheel, dizzy and sensors, and you'll be fine.

  5. Any thoughts on this yet?
  6. AFAIK, R12 is only available in certain states.
  7. That's what I was afraid of. I've never heard of a bearing/bushing that will work for that application. Hopefully someone's got that info for you. Worst case, if you can't find one, you could swap the input shaft from your TJ trans in.
  8. Exhaust, yes, intake.. not completely. I know it's been an issue for people swapping HO manifolds onto Renix heads. It will still work, though. May not even be noticeable. Yes, the dizzy must stay with the electrical system. Which generation transmission did you swap in? I don't know if there's a factory pilot bearing to use an older transmission behind a newer 4.0, like there is for a newer trans behind an older 4.0.
  9. You're right, a bad CPS will cause no spark. It'll turn over all day without starting. Which fuse was blown...?
  10. XJ leaf packs sit pretty much flat, and they're shorter than MJ packs. This is why you don't get as much lift from XJ AALs. By the time you get what you're going for, you're going to have extremely thick, bastardized packs that will probably ride like crap. I think getting new leaves that are already arched for what you want is going to be much better. Hellcreek is a fine company with an amazing product. While I don't have any personal experience with them (yet), I've seen nothing but awesome reviews and recommendations for them.
  11. 8.25 of the left, D35 on the right. Yes, the D35 was still used through 01. I believe it was only on the ABS model XJs. Most newer XJs I've seen have the 8.25.
  12. Did this a few years ago.. viewtopic.php?f=37&t=21310
  13. You may need to replace your front driveshaft u-joints, if 4wd hasn't been used much. They'd just need to be replaced because they've sat in one position not doing much. Bypassing the CAD just makes the front axle work like they all did after 93 ish anyway.
  14. Even if you're not seeing any leaks, at this point, with it acting different depending the angle of the truck, I would change the oil, regardless of how it looks.
  15. Are you referring to the 97+ XJ doors? I believe the only issue on those is the striker. 84-96 4 door XJ doors are the exact same door. Should be a direct swap. Edit
  16. I love me some turbines. whowey, you're
  17. Are all the bellhousing bolts tight? I would still be focusing on the clutch at this point.
  18. Do you have a different ECU you can try?
  19. I think I own one pair of pants... and it's probably in storage.
  20. I would test it with a battery and some jumpers before I took it out.
  21. Remember to use the bellhousing and bearing retainer off your current trans to keep your external slave.
  22. Your fear is correct. You need a Renix (87-90) flywheel. The Renix system cannot work with a new flywheel.
  23. Look directly to the right of the distributor, you'll see a small sensor with a one wire connector on it. That's the sender. Be very careful when removing and installing this, the threaded part is pretty small and easy to break. Same goes for the coolant sensor.
  24. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20131 Rear axle is a factor as well in driveshaft length.
  25. Nope. external 84-86, went internal in 87 with the introduction of the 4.0, and back to external around 94 when the 4.0 went external. All 2.8s will be external.
