  1. Used to just be that I drove 5 speeds. In this day and age, it would probably twart 90% of people looking to steal for a joyride. The AM/FM radio and tape decks worked too. But now, I live in the middle of freakin nowhere. If someone stole one of my MJs, it'd be one of the two neighbors. Or Lenard, cause he's been here.
  2. Not true with our internal slaves.
  3. Eh? :hmm:
  4. Does it come with any version of Office on it -- or can it run Office (or Star Office) if you install it? I'm very tempted to pick up an Aspire, but I would need to be able to run at least Word and Excel. It came with a trail version of Office. I hate Microsoft Office, so I never purchased it. It's not exactly a run down computer... It's got an Intel Atom @1.6 ghz that I've been impressed with, 160 GB HD, and a gig of RAM. I don't run anything that needs a lot of processing power, which basically means newer games, so it's perfect for what I need. Hardest program I run is Photoshop, and it's just fine with that. Thing weighs less than 3 lbs. I can have it sit on my lap for hours on end, and it never feels heavy or gets hot. As for installing Office from a CD, you can either do an external CD ROM drive, or probably do a network install. They have a SD Card slot on the side as well.
  5. You could buzz down here if you'd like...
  6. I LOVE my Aspire one. No CD drive? Big whoop. That's what virtuals are for. It comes with XP Home, and although I prefer XP Pro, I'll take XP Home over Vista or 7 any day. They're light, and very portable. I have larger hands, and have no issue with the tiny keyboard. The battery lasts for a good 3 hours, and it's about the size of 3 C batteries. I also got used to the tiny screen rather quickly. Went from 15" 4:3 on my Dell to 10.1" 16:9 on my Aspire, and it hasn't really been a problem. If you plan on gaming... no, it's not the computer for you. But if you plan on basic stuff, I.E. Facebook, email, CC, some light gaming (I play RCT 1 and SC BW all the time), etc, then you're good to go. If you absolutely have to have a CD ROM drive instead of running a virtual with ISOs on your HD, get an external USB one.
  7. I'd be there if I could.
  8. 291? never heard of it. What year is your truck? If it's an 86 with a part time case, it's probably a 207. I had one of those do the exact same thing. I took it out and replaced it with a 231.
  9. I wouldn't sink that much money into a D35. If you're going to be buying gears, paying for the setup, you might want to find yourself a better axle first. I know you're putting it behind a 2.5, but of all the 35s I've had, the only one I've had problems with was behind my only 2.5 I've ever had.
  10. Dunno where you heard that, but no, it's not. The AX-4/5 is a rather decent transmission as long you don't, say, put a GM 3800 out of a Camaro in front of it. I don't know of any cams for the 2.5, and even if you did find higher compression pistons, I doubt they'd do you any good. Besides, I think doing a rebuild for new pistons and a cam would be more work than the MPFI conversion. If you can find a set of 4.56 axles or want to do the regearing, go for it. Gearing the quickest and easier mod you can do for that motor that will be noticeable.
  11. Be a lot of work to get a T-5 in there unless you happened to find one of the extremely rare factory ones as a donor. AX-5 is what you're looking for.
  12. Best thing you can do for your 2.5 is upgrade to a 91+ MPFI system. This is a lot of work, but worth it.
  13. #11 :rotf:
  14. Remove the front driveshaft and take it for a drive to see how it acts then.
  15. You don't have to remove the lines. Just get something under it to support it, undo the straps, and you should be good to go. Just look over it quick and be careful when removing the bed to make sure there's no stupid zip ties or something.
  16. Crossmember is not the same. I was just informed of this the other week. They are all the same except for the AX-15. AX-15 has a notch in the middle.
  17. That's because you can get at every bolt rather easily on a 2.5.
  18. Toss those bolts out. Take them to your hardware store and get some Grade 8 replacements. No need to yank the tranny just for that. Oh, and if you haven't already, remove your CPS from the bellhousing before putting a motor in. Then put it back on before you reattach the manifolds.
  19. There was probably something in the gas that plugged up your fuel filter.
  20. If the nearest hospital to me down here didn't make me feel like committing suicide over their tender care, I'd say you could pop up a tent out back...
  21. It's ok. You can have my mom. She's just up the road from my house, in the same damn park even. Then your mom will quit whining cause you got a new one, and my mom will quit whining that I'm 560 miles away.
  22. Tell your docs to move to Madison. Then you'd have a 15 minute drive every 2 weeks.
  23. Wanna move to Marshall?
  24. I went and got the snowbrush out of the 2.5 so I could brush off the XJ...
  25. So far... still have three Christmas' to do.
